Actually in some places you do see packs of dogs running around being aggresive. In some area stray dog problems get so bad they start hunting in packs. With no human for guidence dogs revert back to their natural wild state as well. And I have seen plenty of male dog fights who naturaly guard terittory against intruders. That is something not taught by humans but just natural. So you could argue the same with either cats or dogs.
