I have a question: the other day I asked for an adaptor (M42 to EOS) in a photography store and the guy told me that it could be dangerous to use it because if you adapt the lens when the camera is ON it could make short circuit and break the camera (i guess he meant this because the camera, when connected to EF/EF-S lens, transmit data, like f/stop,etc.) anyway, I want to know if this thing is true or just BS...
Hey, I was wondering if the F-stop gets lowered with the adapter. For example, will my nikon 55mm f1.4 lens get reduced to a f2.4 due to the adapter? Thanks
You mentioned "old" manual Nikon lenses. But will that adapter work with the new lenses? Like the Nikkor AF-S 35mm F1.8 G DX. It's not brand spanking new but that's a lens my local store has. Couldn't really find "old" manual Nikon lenses.
1)Would you positively recommend the Nikkor 50mm for filming on a Nikon D3100? Not in the position to buy a Canon right now, just working with what I've got.
2)Could we possibly date? Jk. But you're really cute and funny.
I m following your suggestions on the Nikkor Lenses and just bought the Nikkor S.C 50mm 1.4 + Nikkor-s 35mm 2.8 ! And the adapter that you suggsted! =) I wanna ask, have u ever tried that 35mm lens?
I actually used a FD to EOS converter with a corrector piece of glass that allowed me to focus to infinity, the only downside is that you lose about a half a stop of light, otherwise it works great
Dude, I could care less about cameras, but I stumbled across this looking for some other stuff and thought it was amusing so I watched it. Keep it up.
I don't see where he's getting all these prices.... nikon 28mm alone sells for $280 on amazon... 50mm 1.4 sells for about $300 and 80-200 for over $800..... this isn't cheaper.... I might as well stick with canon lenses
@aperkins07 You have to look around on ebay or Adorama, they're definitely there because that's where I purchased mine. They are cheaper when you weigh quality vs cost. THiNKmediaTV s right about the cheaper canon glass vs the older nikkor glass, I can confirm this because I have both. If you purchase any of the older nikkor glass, I'd recommend Adorama. They've got a rating system based on the condition of the lens which helps a lot.
what body are you using? and is that bitch expensive? cuz if it is... i needs some cheapo cannon video dslr bodie options homie? hmu and thanks in advance..
This video literally changed my life. Seriously though, suddenly I have a ballin' film rig where instead I would have had an empty bank account and crippling hunger.
LOL I don't know it you're using the same ebay as me, but a Nikkor 80-200 f4 for $80 9+ condition would be a steal. I'm seeing them go for around $150 with similar Series E lenses for about half that.
Also the 50mm 1.4 is going for around $300, 50mm 1.2 around $450. The 1.2 AIS still sells new for around $670
The 28mm 2.8 is around $140. If you got it for $40, you burned someone so bad, they're gonna need some aloe.
Still, all these Nikon/Nikkor lenses are a good deal.
@TheAE35Unit I got my 28mm for $130 I think, the 50mm 1.4 is DEFINITELY around for under $100 though. Keep in mind you have to be looking through AI, AIS, Non-AI, etc etc. Not the modern Nikkors. Takes some hunting but I got the 28 2.8 and 50 1.4 for about $200 total and am absolutely blown away
i picked up a 50mm 1.4 ai for $130....the lens he got was non ai so thats why it mightve been cheaper? im not exactly sure but regardless i havent seen any for $300 that are nikkor
Great video. Both entertaining the whole way through AND resourceful. Rare in todays sea of horrible diy YouTube videos. Keep up the good work! I'm subscribing.
@thinkintl Not really sure. I guess for a first lens I could do about £200 or ~$300. I'll probably get a 50mm prime since that seems to be pretty standard. But what else is recommended for action and fast paced film type work? Thanks
What about fisheye lenses for Canon Eos cameras. I want to use it for shooting pictures AND filming, but i don't want to pay too much. What do you recommend? Should i buy one of these Adapters to save more money or what??? Plz Help
@JOOZi9 I would get a 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye is you are on a crop sensor. Cheap on ebay. OR Sigma 10mm Fish... not cheap but you'll get auto focus. I have used both and like both!
so what about the tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6 macro? i know f stop isnt the best but im looking for documentary filmmaking (which would include photos). what r ur thoughts?
@revcrystaldb great camera, if you want to save money tho get the t2i .. and google the magic lantern t2i hack... lots on indie filmmakers using that set up
@THiNKmediaTV nice! i checked out skate montage 13, the one with the little kid. Well done, but i would recomend getting a Cruzer or a board with quieter wheels so that you can hear the skaters board more than the filmers. but nice!
@xMicXMic honestly I would use these for planned shoots... for events I would want 2 zooms.... 24-70 and a 70-200 ... maybe a super wide as well like a fisheye or 11-16 or something.....
Yah yah, clicked Like .. "sick video" etc. Got 5 FD's on my Sony Nex-5 and just digging up Nikons. @robert7kim7 no... if you get one with "glass" in the adapter... i think it might. Usually the loss of an f-stop is caused by "extenders."
