is the "trinity" even mentioned once, in the Bible? did Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, or Jesus Christ, so much as mention such a word? did our dear Lord Jesus Christ instruct us, to mention or teach of this word? then why, is it being mentioned and taught? because it's the tradition of man!
Mr trinitarian baptism is a subsequent action w/c must not be negated by followers of Christ. It always follow after beleiving Mark 16:16 after repentingActs 2:38. Repentance is believing in the gospel of salvation that Jesus brought to anyone that will receive Him. Now if for a long time as a believer and you have not yet been baptized, there is a question of your true faith. You might as well not pray, read the bible and take communion, rebuke evil spirit, etc in Jesus name.
to the trinitarian: When I who is an unbeliever, then invite Jesus Christ in my heart who is Son only to you( Son, flesh, human) who then filled me with all the understanding that righteousness comes only from the Lord Jesus. Is it the Son that you called Jesus Christ? I think not anymore. He comes as the Holy Spirit who guides converts to the path of righteousness. You invite Jesus then Holy Spirit comes in. Then the Holy Spirit is Jesus Christ
So the trinitarian is questioning the way peter and paul baptized in the name of Jesus because it is only associated with the Son and not the name of God the Father w/c makes Jesus Christ name to them not the name above every name. He is telling that Peter and Paul erred in doing the Great commission. He is still blind on some part.
@james1985smith believing is not repenting. Paul saw God on the Ed to Damascus . He asked who this God was...the Lord said I am Jesus....would you agree that at that point Paul believe in God and that God was Jesus? he then went and prayed and fasted for 3 days...again enforcing belief in God....then he was baptized calling on the name of the Lord...we know He spoke in tongues (1 cor.) ...this all fits acts 2:38....msg me further for a deeper look.
Being 'born of water' is regarding the mother's womb in John 3. Yes, we should be baptized in the name of Jesus; He baptizes with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Considering the sin offering and burnt offering in Leviticus 4 & 1, water baptism represents the sin offering; baptism by fire represents imputed righteousness, the burnt offering.
3 persons. The Son had a beginning: Pro 8.22-30 (God has never been without wisdom). The Son is not the Father but is an other self of Him who is the Father (double): Luke 6.12; John 14.9a 'I', 'ME', the Holy Spirit too: Ro 8.27; Jn 14.16 'another'.
3 personnes.
IF ALL THE APOSTLES BAPTIZE PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AFTER JESUS TOLD THEM HOW TO BAPTIZE PEOPLE,, WHY DO ALLOT OF PEOPLE BAPTIZE DIFFERENT THAN THE EXAMPLES IN THE BIBLE??
This is so fun...what a study...love John 3:13 cuz it says no man hath ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven (The Lord who clothed himself in flesh for us) even the son of man WHICH IS IN HEAVEN. SEE HE COULD SAY I'M IN HEAVEN AT THE SAME TIME THAT I'M IN THE SON OF MAN!!! AWESOME!!!!
I got baptized four times in my life from age 13 or 29 and NOTHING, happened at all. The 5th time was when I was 30 and IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND I RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST WITH EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN OTHER TONGUES RIGHT WHEN I GOT UP OUT OF THE WATER!! I have heard this same testimony from so many other people. I also repented honestly and earnestly before getting baptized in The Name of Jesus, so followed Acts 2:38 exactly..JESUS IS THE ONLY ONE WISE GOD, I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE
i guess i jut got to get back in my faith and find that presense again huh. i just didnt know if i was already saved from grace(imean we all are from grace) since i recieved the holy ghost b4, but iv nver SOAKED in that love i felt that night and the next couple days; After, i was like yeah ok so i aint alone jesus i believe you.so am i saved since i change my evil ways have good intintioright?. or does that presence ALWAY STAY WITH Ut, and u have to CALL upon it to come. i am a believer..
@James1985Smith THE BOOK OF ACTS IN THE BACK OF THE BIBLE CHAPTER 19 READ IT...PAUL GOES TO ONE OF THE EARLY CHURCH'S AND SAYS HAVE YE RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST SINCE YE BELIEVED, THEY SAID, WE HAVE NOT SUCH HEARD OF ANY HOLY GHOST. PAUL SAID, TO WHAT THEN WERE YE BAPTIZED, THEY SAID UNTO TO JOHN'S BAPTISM. PAUL SAID, JOHN'S BAPTISM WAS MERELY FOR REPENTANCE...(THIS IS JUST MY GENERAL BREAK DOWN) SO, THEY WERE ALL BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND RECEIVED HOLY GHOST W/EVIDENCE OF TONGUES
@stedmans4christ i felt the holy apirit one night i was suicidal man like really, depression ect. and iv felt it for acouple days and i know whats wrong and whats right and im humble and give god glory pray for others. so i mean if i dont steal ect aint trash and TRULY know (believe) god raised his son from the dead, can i still drink acouple beers and smoke alil by myself (BUT NOT BE ADICCTED) i would have grace right!? i need someone to talk to..
@James1985Smith IF YOU FOLLOW THE PLAN OF SALVATION, WHICH IS ACTS 2:38...SEE MY COMMENTS BELOW..THE HOLY GHOST WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH AND CHANGE YOU LIKE YOU CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE. BELIEVE ME I WAS THE WORST SINNER OF ALL. ALSO YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER AFTER THAT THE HOLY GHOST HAS COME UPON YOU. SPEAKING IN TONGUES IS SO AWESOME AND THE BEST HIGH YOU WILL EVER HAVE EVER..IT WILL BE YOUR NEW ADDICTION, I PROMISE. AFTER YOU RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST, IT (THE LORD)WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU
ACTS 2:38 IS THE SALVATION PLAN...IT'S SO EASY TO GET BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS, AND IT'S ALSO ACTUALLY PRETTY EASY TO GO TO AN APOSTOLIC CHURCH AND REPENT AT THE ALTAR BECAUSE IF YOU GO TO AN APOSTOLIC CHURCH YOU WILL FEEL CONVICTION AND THE TRUTH OF THE LORD..REPENT, BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT(THIS IS A PROMISE) OF THE HOLY GHOST. THAT IS WHAT IS REQUIRED OF US, AFTER THAT THE HOLY GHOST GIVES US POWER OVER SIN, THE LORD IS THE AUTHOR/FINISHER
so is believing repenting? or just knowing that God is and gave His only begotton son to save us who believe and have good intentions from hell? and if i was baptiazed a couple years ago(by water) and i continued to do sin, BUT was a believer, would i have to get rebaptized?
@James1985Smith IF YOU BELIEVE THE TRUTH YOU WILL OBEY ACTS 2:38 JUST AS I DID ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO...IF YOU OBEY ACTS 2:38 THERE ARE PROMISES THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM THE LORD JESUS WHO IS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF YOUR FAITH. YOU WILL RECEIVE THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY GHOST WHICH WILL ALSO GIVE YOU POWER OVER SIN...
BOTH Oneness and Trinitarian dogma are heresies because Jesus is not God, either by "substance" or "person". These theologies are actually the same, making "GOD" "three 'something'". Oneness teaches that God is three "substances", not "persons", and Trinitarians teach that God is three "persons" not "substances".
The truth is that GOD is ONE and is the FATHER ALONE. Jesus Christ is His Son, who DIED (a thing GOD could not do), and was raised to life by the ONLY ONE WHO GIVES LIFE, GOD.
Let me give you trinity guys a home work, search the bible and tell me, one place in the bible that anyone baptize in the title, and if baptism don't save, why does the bible say the like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us.1 Peter 3;21, he that believeth and his baptized and shall be save, he that believeth shall be damned Mark 16;16. One lord, one faith, one baptism. Eph 4;5. Where does the other came from, and which one does the apostle use. Why then Paul explain Acts 19
@scubandrew Please add me on facebook (Shawndra Higgins) :) I'd like to invite you to a couple groups I think you'd make an excellent addition to :) 'WHO IS JESUS' & 'BIBLICAL DISCUSSION & DEBATE'... There's nontrinitarians like me, and there's the trinitarians as well :) Great people...Great groups :)
@scubandrew ACTS 19 IS THE SMOKING GUN ISN'T IT!! RIGHT ON BROTHER..ACTS 19 SPELLS IT OUT FOR ANYONE TO UNDERSTAND PLAINLY AND CLEARLY IN THE KING JAMES VERSION. IT'S AS CLEAR AS THE EVIDENCE OF BUILDING 7 ON 9/11 LOLOLOLO
@mbcchoir , this video will clearly explain that the Baptism in Jesus Name is the only way to be saved: "Baptism in Jesus Name - Truth About Salvation" and about Mathew 28:18-19, yes I have read it, but the point is to UNDERSTAND what it is saying... it clearly says : IN THE NAME...that NAME is JESUS, JESUS is the NAME of the father, son and holy gost because the (father), (son), (holy gost) are NOT NAMES BUT SUBTITLES.
1 Timothy 3:16 says "God was manifest in the flesh.." This passage directly says that when God (whom is a spirit example is in John 4:24)...manifest in flesh He made himself visible in flesh, and God, being a spirit has a Name and its Jesus. All these passages such as colossians 1:13-15, 2 corinthians 4:4, Hebrews 10:20 explain Jesus is God himself. And so Jesus being the only NAME in which we can be saved ( ACTS 4:12) is what we should all be bauptized that NAME and not in subtitles.
" In the beginning was [before all time] the Word (Christ), and the Word was WITH [in communion] God [the Father], and the Word was God [Deity by nature]. " (John 1:1)
" No one has seen God [the Father] at any time; the only begotten God [Jesus, God the Son] who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence, at the side] of the Father, He has explained Him. " (John 1:18, NASB)
Do you imagine I came to give peace on the earth? No, indeed, I tell you, but rather division.52-for from now on there will be five in one house divided, three against two and two against three. 53-they will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, and mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother –in-law.
Str8Talker, Arianism which you subscribe to is the most biblicaly inconsistent false doctrine of them all and relies on a form of exegete by superimposing text that look Unitarian on text that equate Jesus as God and the Deity of the spirit. Because of this it was condemned by the Holy Ghost as heresy. Likeother heresies outside Christendom it is a minority view not held by the Body of Christ.
If i give you a check for $100,000.00, and i sign "son" on the bottom, or "father" were the signers signature belongs would you be able to cash it in? Why NOT? Because one of my [titles] are not valid. The check needs a valid signature. “My NAME”
jesus said baptise in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit. when this is done you are baptise in the name of jesus because he authorized this. not a personal name. its authority
and to be honest, The other view doesnt even make any sence!, its important to read the entire bible! So that you can understand the TRUTH!! JESUS IS GOD!!!!!!!
there is one spirit and the Lord is that spirit God is spirit Jesus is God he said destroy this temple and I will raise it up God raised Jesus from the dead Jesus is God
But the salvation message is warped. I was a Oneness pastor and believe oneness. But, the more I studied the Epistles, the more I saw we were wrong about the salvation stance taken by the UPC and others...wrong on womens hair, wrong on many things. That's why I'm no longer there. Legalism kills.
" There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. " (Ephesians 4:4-6, NASB)

Very good point gregoryhack ! There is only one God not three seperate persons in God there always was and always will be One God and his name is Jesus!
This is complete Salvation in My view Love God Hear The Gospel Believe / Obey The Gospel Call On the Name of The Lord Confess & Believe Be Born Again Repent Be Baptized IN THE Name of Jesus Ask & Receive The H.G. with Tongues Enter through the door Remember the Gospel Endure to the end
The Son came down from heaven as the WORD(eternal preincarnated expression of GOD) Taking the title Son of God in the incarnation for the Word was made Flesh (took on flesh) The Word was never Flesh, but took on what it was not) that is Flesh & became the Son (incarnated experssion of God) taking on the title Son in the womb!
Bornest1 review Isaiah 48:16, Proverbs 30:4. Jesus always existed prior to the incarnation. Jesus' baptism, and Pslams 110. He was always the Son of God. Note the context of each and the timeframes involved. Pslams refers to post resurrection. Jesus was noted as the Son of God prior to the resurrection. God says he is well pleased with his Son not as if he never exited, but in general. Isaiah 48:16, the one sent was Jesus, and he was from the beginning of time.
Wrong, God from the Beginning had the Son of God in his mind! As God had the Church in the Mind of God! You are missing & putting Theology not in ORDER! THE WORD(Merah,Hebrew,God who expressed) existed before the incarnation. The Son had a begginning, WHERE! In the Incarnation(Begotten) Both are thee Expresson of God! One is Preincarnated the other is incarnated. One was Eternal the other came in the world at the Appointed TIME GAL4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come
John Baptism! Where the Father says to the Son. This is my Son whom I am well please! Here the Father honors the Son as the Son gives Reverence to the Father. That is to say the Divine honors the Humanity. All because this happens, this doesnt Stop God from being Who he really is GOD. He does Things after the cousel of his own WILL. This leads to say God came in Flesh/ JESUS expressing as The SON and also Expressing as the FATHER making Jesus God in Flesh with TWO Offices FATHER/SON
Scripture Man I should take you name, because you are talking with the Wrong Oneness Bro with Oneness Apologetics.
Again Jesus held 2 offices FATHER/SON, Just like he held Priest/Sacrifice. Jesus occupied Many offices. That WHY it Please the Father that in HIM ALL FULLNESS (Deity) Dwell! What the Trinity does is it focus to much on the titles with not focusing on God/Jehovah who was JESUS in flesh Expressing THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON, & HOLY GHOST
The name of refers to the power and authority of God (Jehovah) who JEsus in this scripture clearly denotes to anyone who hears him consists of the Father, AND of the Son, AND of the Holy Spirit, each identified separately and individually on purpose, yet all make up God. Why do we baptise in the name of Jesus then, because Jews didn't say God's name so he goes by a new name. The Mediator between God and Men.
He states this is my Son, not now this is my Son. All of the Psalms references where it says The Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand today I have become your Father and you my Son is referenced after the resurrection not before. So was Jesus not the Son of God before. Peter sure thought so and he didn't deny him, plus God the Father felt so in your example.
God in the beginning had the promise in mind. Jesus has always been God's word, you are correct in this respect. Made everything through/by his Word (Psalm 33:6, Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, etc. God spoke and creation occurred. The issue is God clearly denote the plural three times then the singular. He was talking to angels because verse 27 clarifies verse 26. Genesis 3:22, 11:7, Isaiah 6:8-13 are other examples. You are right the Word existed before, the Son is the Word.
But Your on the right Track! But God was not talking to the Angels! God again is the counselof his own Will. And his Will is the expression of his on Person that is the Word/Logos! When God said let US (Elohim is Plural but singular in his PERSON which shows forth the Majesty of God through his Power & Sovereignty. STILL ONE GOD!
We can never or try to separate a persons WORD (s) From Who they are (ONE PERSON) that has expressed them. God was talking to LOGOS!
Mr Bernard gives a complete wrong answer to first question.
Sorry for him, and for people that follow him.
He goes around and around looking how to say what text doesn't say, just to defend his own doctrine. Jesus clearly said he had glory before coming to the world. Is it so complicated to accept for him?
Where does it teach that....where does it teach that the apostle understood Matthew 28 like that...it doesn't ...he's reading into it something that isn't there...
The point is that it's not teaching a formula...it's teaching under whose authority.....point not made clear by Pastor cooks answer....oneness are completely wrong in there interpretation of Acts 2:38
Mr. Cook is so far off the mark! "Salvation is not a product of man's obedience." Are you kidding me?!? That's EXACTLY what it is. Salvation comes by OBEYING God's word. Unless a person is born again of WATER AND OF SPIRIT, they will not see the kingdom of God. That means water baptism in Jesus name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost, both of which are instructed in Acts 2:38!!
We most certainly DO have to secure our salvation by maintaining the letter of the law. That means obey the bible!
10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
John 6:28-30 28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, THIS IS THE WORK OF GOD, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Has nothing to do with people obeying. He does the work not the believer.
You need to reread the book of Romans again and hopefully come to Biblical understanding of salvation and Whose work it is....we are justified by Faith based on the Work of Christ on the Cross...also read Ephesians 2:8 and 9
Hi Houseygirl. John baptized with Water. Jesus batpizes with the Holy Spirit. The verse Water and Spirit refers to living water and the anointing (cleansed with water) of the Holy Spirit. This is the one baptism, not water baptism. You receive the Hoiy Spirit when you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for all mankind and rose again overcoming sin of which the wages are death. Baptism is via the Holy Spirit - 1 John 2:27 and yes even Acts 2:38, not water.
what belief system do you adhere to? the reason i ask is u are asking about the church fathers being oneness pentecostals, so what belief system do you adhere to?
was the Godhead revealed to the apostle Paul when he always spoke of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. he mentioned the 3 think about it. my belief is from the bible.
Paul mentioned the Father,Son and HOLY GHOST, YES. Oneness pentecostals DO NOT deny the Father Son and HOLY GHOST. Paul was not trying to teach Jews or Christians some new doctrine of a trinity, but was speaking of the offices. GOD the creator, the FATHER, and the LORD Jesus our Savior. Christ's role as JUDGE,LORD, and SAVIOR is given to Him from GOD the Father. Jesus (the human) holds these offices because He inherited them from the FATHER( THE ONE TRUE GOD). JESUS IS THE FATHER COME IN FLESH
Elohim is plural as are the Hebrew words for Maker and Creator always used in a singular text. Ecahd is the Hebrew word used for one always when referring to God, but also in Ezekiel when referring to the two stick of Israel as well as man and woman coming together physically in marriage. It can mean one literally and in unity corporate with diversity. The perfect word for a Triune God, They would have used yachid otherwise. I'm sure the Jews understood their own language.
Are you trying to tell me that the Jews believed in a 'Triune God'? Ask any Jew alive today and they would adamantly disagree with you. Their profession of faith (Deut. 6:4) caused them to be hated by other nations. Abraham, Moses, and David all served One God. Are they wrong as well for not praying to all three 'Co-Equal, Co-Eternal Persons' of the Godhead? If God was three persons in the OT why do we not find the Heroes of the Faith (Hebrews 11) praying to 'God the Son or God the Holy Spirit'?
Of course the Jews dont believe that. They are just as wrong as they were in Jesus's day. In John 8 Jesus explains to the Jews that he is not alone but his Father also bears witness, making his statement True by law. He goes on to tell them they know NOT the Father bc they believe NOT on him. You must understand progressive revelation. We pray to Jesus who interceeds to the Father for us, and sends the Spirit to work. When one is saved and reads the Word, God will grant him knowledge & truth.
I am a Jew by heritage my friend. I'm very well aware of what they believe in. Why do you think they wanted to stone Jesus for blasphemy? Do you think they understood God? Obviously not. Jesus himself says no one knows the Father. That would include Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc. Do you think they didn't know the Father? This is why it was so hard for them to grasp who he was.
8 For this is what the Lord of armies has said: In the way of glory HE HAS SENT ME to the nations which have taken your goods For at the shaking of my hand over them, their goods will be taken by those who were their servants: and you will see that the LORD of armies HAS SENT ME. 11 And a number of nations will be joined to the Lord in that day, and will become MY PEOPLE; and I will be living among you, and you will see that the Lord of armies has SENT ME to you
YOU WROTE "They are clear that Jesus is the Son of God, not the Father, even stating that you make God out to be a liar if you don't believe him. " Well my friend I think you do not understand my position. I do not DENY AT ALL that Jesus is the Son of God, that is very clear. I believe He is the SON and MORE. So I do not deny that Jesus is the Son. I simply believe that if you have the Son, you have the Father also, because JESUS IS the Father manifested in the Son.
I didn't state that you deny JEsus is the Son, I stated you make God out to be a liar just like 1 John 5:10-12 states. How so? One - Jesus notes the law of two witnesses which refers to two persons. Oneness individuals like to tout this as his human nature witnessing his divine nature, but if that is true and he didn't have the Spirit of the man Jesus then he was not fully man only fully God making the sacrifice invalid. Two he notes "we" will make our abode with them...
Biblical Jewish culture. I will go an prepare a place for you. Jesus is the bridegroom, God purchased Jesus' bride the church via the life of Christ. When a Father purchased a bride the groom went and added on to the family home - prepared a place - when finished he returned for his bride just as Christ returns for us. They then live in the addition of the Father's house. Christ did not lie when he said "we." Nor did he lie when he stated he is the Son of God. You are not your own father.
how come the church fathers werent oneness? THe apostles were, but if you are talking about some of the later, they weren't trinitarian either, if anything you might be able to get a binitarian view, but the trinity wasn't quite fully developed yet. when Jesus got baptized? have you not read that the dove was a sign to JOhn " upon whom you see the spirit descend like a dove, this is the one. It was a sign for John to know who the ONE was, not a teaching on the GOdhead, John was Jewish, ONE GOD
They clearly denounce the idea of modalism (now called oneness) in scripture a couples of times. They are clear that Jesus is the Son of God, not the Father, even stating that you make God out to be a liar if you don't believe him. Did Jesus lie by omission then? They never denounce the concept of Trinitarianism instead note it frequently. What do you base your initial statement on? John recognized Jesus before seeing the dove as the scriptures note.
yes it was revealed,Col. 2:9 says that in him(Jesus) dwells ALL the fulness of the Godhead bodily(emphasis mine) and vs 10 says that we are complete in him(Jesus) Jesus is Father(Is. 9:6) in that He created us(Jn 1:3, Col. 1:16) He is the Son in Redemption(2Co. 5:19) and the Holy Spirit in Salvation(Tit. 2:13). 1 Tim. 3:16 says that God was manifest in the flesh, and remembering the Shema(Deut. 6:4)there is only 1 God, Jesus is the only God. when did Isaiah see Christ glory?(Jn 12:41)in Is.6:1!
Read the Hebrew for Isaiah 9:6, then read it for Job 20:19 and Isaiah 22:21. "Ab" in Hebrew is followed by another Hebrew word. The Hebrew word for Father a in dad is Abba, when "ab" is combined with another word is means Father of abc, where abc is something. Such as abbayit mean Father of the House, or abrimon Father of Pomegranate. Contextually the Hebrew does not say JEsus is the Father, but that he is the Father of eternity or future due to his hand in creation as God created through him.
WOW, another verse that states that Jesus is the name that was baptized.... in Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
So that's 3 other verses than Acts 2:38, that states what name they used to baptized new followers.... sorry for so many posts
also in Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
They were COMMANDED to baptized them in the NAME of the Lord and this is Jesus Christ, when we confess on our knees to the glory of God our Father! It's the name above ALL names...
There is no specific verse that gives the exact verbaige for baptism except for what Christ notes in Mat 28:19 Regardless God judges your heart when it comes to salvation, not the mouth, Trinitarians wholly confess Christ as their Lord and Savior. Baptising in the "name of" Christ means the authority of Christ of which has been "given" to him. Jesus that authority as The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit (Jehovah). You can't baptize a Jew if he won't say God's name, hence Jesus's name.
There is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. All baptisms in the bible were in the name of Jesus. All of the synoptic gospels show the same scene, and all commanded that we should be baptized in Jesus name. The word of God is like a treasure hid in a field, it's a revelation, and the following scriptures show it. Matthew 28:19 Mark 16:16. and Luke 24:47 What is the father's name, and what is his son's name if thou canst tell?
Hi goomee3d. You are correct there is no other name under heaven. Jehovah is God's name forever (Exodus 3:14-15). In Revelation 3 Jesus states he will get a new name, and in Revelation he has it, so what happens to Jesus' body? In Ex 3:15 you will see The God of Abraham (The Father), the God of Isaac (The Son) and the God of Jacob (ala Holy Spirit) Read their stories in Genesis. Does Matthew 28:19 make more sense. The God of the living is the triune God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob ala the...
John 18:4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he ("he" was added shown by italics, it should say I am). And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
They fell to the ground at the significance of his claim. I AM. When moses asked Jehovah to what he should
the Isrealites who sent him, Jehovah said tell them I AM sent you. This is why they fell backward. The Jews understood Jesus claim to be Jehovah. Jesus literally means Jehovah Savior.
Isaiah 43: 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.
Revelations 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
Trinitarians do not deny Jesus is the one on the throne, it says this throughout - Psalm 110:1 - 1 Corinthians 15:28, and even Rev 3:21 believers sit down on Chris's throne as well. Jasper and sardine, sardis, ruby or carnelian depending on translation refer to Christ, the first and last stones of the high priest plate the first being reuben which means "Behold a son" and the last Benjamin my middle name which means "son of my right hand." Use this for Jehovah Witness as proof not a Trinitarian
Again, Trinitarians believe in only one God. As noted before why can you understand the dual nature of Christ as two persons, but one single being, yet fail to grasp the Trinity which is three persons within the single entity of God?
Exodus 3:14-15 I noted for you to review this passage. Note God of Abraham (Father) God of Isaac (Son) and God of Jacob (Holy Spirit) Does Matthew 28:19 make more sense now? Still think they are titles? ar ehte God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob titles or the I Am?
In the Book of John Jesus makes seven I Am statements, this is not one of them. Jesus was affirming he is Jesus of Nazareth. Daniel 2:45 the stone cut out of the mountain not by human hands. The mountain is God and the stone if Jesus. Is the stone the entire mountain or representative of it? I ask you why you feel a Trinitarian does not believe Jesus is God? When have we not acknowledged Christ as Jehovah? You are confusing Trinitarians with Jehovah Witnesses & Mrmns who think Christ is separate
BTW Matthew 28:19 makes perfect sense. In heaven there is only Jesus, and he is the light of new Jerusalem, he himself was the Father, the one God, one personality if you could call him a personality, that created the heavens and the earth alone. He then came down in the spirit, and was born, putting on the flesh of man to experience what we have to, and in his resurrection, he completed the chapter, allowing us the adoption
Jesus is God as God is the Father of us all, but he is the Son of God, not God the Father. If he is the Father then he never ceases to be the Father and therefore lied in John 5:22 for he states teh Father judges no man, but the Son judges. If you notice he says Son only, referring to the Son of God, why? John 5:26, 27 Jesus judges because he is the Son of Man - Son of Man, Son of God = dual nature. Not the Oneness Trinity of Son of Man, Son of God and God the Father.
Jesus is the Word of God, everything is made and done by/through Jesus (ex: Psalm 33:6, 9, Romans 10:17, Genesis 1:4, 6, 9, 14, 20, 26, etc.) because God does everything through his Word. He communicates with man (Mediator between God and man) destroys, creates, etc. Has God ever been wthout his Word? Has he ever done anything without his Word (John 1:3) ? Is his Word the stone cut out of the mountain (Dan 2:45)? Has anyone seen God? Have they seen Jesus? Did Jesus lie in John 8:14-18?
Christian God. The Trinity. Please provide me a direct quote where Jesus name is said while being immersed. The issue is one you can't open your mouth and speak while you are being dunked in water. Two, if the person baptising you says it, then it's not from "your heart." All that comes out of the mouth comes from the heart. God judges the heart as the scripture note. Trinitarians do say with their mouths Jesus is Lord.
4Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5On hearing this, they were baptized into[b] the name of the Lord Jesus.
Tell me why in this passage of scripture the bible has to say Paul baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus.
It doesn't Paul baptised them in the name of the Lord it says John told the people to believe in the one coming after him..." First component here is belief. Paul then follows that up with "On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus." The second component is hearing. What does Jesus baptized with? The Holy Ghost. Ephesians 1:13 gives you your answer "...after that ye heard the word of truth,..: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit ...
Acts 8: 12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Acts 8: 15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
This shows us that first they did believe, yes, you must believe. And that after they believed they were baptized, obviously in water (as always was practiced in the 1st century church) and that they were prayed for, so that they might receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. That tells me there are two baptisms, rather there is one 2 part baptism. Because as the bible says, there is One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism.
You are right one baptism. 1 John 5:1 whoever believes is "born of God" Christ is the fountain of living water (Jer 2:13) so how are we born again? What happens just prior to birth? A woman's water breaks. Is this holy water or sinful water? How are we washed of sin, by earthly water or heavenly water? You exalt the power of earthly water. John baptised with Water Jesus with the Holy Ghost, that is two different baptisms. The jew practiced water baptism well before Christ came yet it dod not...
Before you comment any further, allow me to address all of the points you have already made if you don't mind. And I will also address this one as well. :)
save them. The water part is symbolic of being born again becoming one man in Christ Jesus, in other words baptised into the name "authority" of Christ, however, that does not truly happen until you receive the Holy Ghost - Ephesians 1:13 - "sealed." When Jesus says water and Spirit he means the Word of God (hearing) and the Holy Ghost (believing). Did Jesus lie when the guy being curcified next to him would be with him in heaven. No water baptism there. There are plenty of other examples.
Just as man cannot live without literal water, man cannot live without the Word of God (Christ), however, the Word of God is the only one with real power as he is the living water. Revelation, living water will flow from the throne, in other words, God's Word will flow from the throne. If baptism by literal earthly water was a requirement then it would not be salvation by faith through grace for grace is unearned and undeserved. This act would be a work and salvation is not by works. (John 3:16)
As I am short on time, I would like to point you to two books. The Oneness of God, google it, it will be the first link that says newlifeupc This site also contains a book called the New Birth. Both books address all of these questions, and points that you are making, if you still have questions, feel free to post any discrepancies you see, and I will explain them further. I appreciate the debate so far with you, I just think these books are extensive and I don't have time to dispute everything.
I want you to understand that while I appreciate extra-biblical sources when it comes to certain aspects of no real value such as speaking to a Jehovah Witness regarding a cross or single wood stake, my goal is here is to understand what you yourself believe.
I have spent well over the last year researching this topic along with Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, and other group that have come up in the past two centuries, developing a website to try and clarify doctrinal differences. I ask simple
What I believe is in the Apostles Doctrine, Oneness Pentecostalism, and Holiness, however, I do not practice, nor is it really of any effect since as James puts it, it is of no value, it's dead. If I were to involve myself again into the one true faith, that is where I would be. BTW I used to be a Binitarian, but until I read the bible, I had no idea that God was indivisibly one.
Hi goomee3d. If you were a binitarian previously then you would have believe that God was indivisibly one consisting of two persons, think dual nature of Jesus, not two gods. It's kind of like when Bernard says that Jesus prays to the Father from his human nature to his divine nature. Natures cannot pray to each other. Humans consist of a spirit, a body and a soul, this is their nature. So if Jesus was praying to his divine nature then his human spirit prayed to his Godly spirit. Additionally...
his human spirit would make him solely human, not God thus relegating the sacrifice of Jesus as invalid, however, if Jesus has the Spirit of his Son (Gal 4:6) then Jesus is fully God - recall the stone cut out of the mountain (Daniel 2:45). Bernard fails to understand that Jesus is the literal Word of God. The entire Bible, God's Word is Jesus, that is why Jesus "says what he hears" that is why God's judges by his Word/Son because the Word is the Son of Man/God. Satan mimics God during the...
Tribulation via Satan (The Dragon) operating in the backgroun (like God the Father), the Anti-Christ mimicing JEsus by dying and being resurrected by Satan, as well as performing miracles and claiming to be God, with the False Prophet witnessing the Anti-Christ's resurrection and performing miracles in his name. I hope this sounds familiar to you. Satan's goal is to dupe those who are with God, so I ask is he by forming an Anti-Trinity trying to dupe a Oneness believers or not?
...questions. For example to a Mormon you ask what the name Moroni means. Then ask them what Nephi or Momron mean. Names are very significant in the Bible and they are changed for a reason. Angels names always glorify God - Gabriel = Devoted to God - Michael - Who is Like God. Hebrew "El" = God. The other Hebrew conjunctions vary. You see thgis in Isa 9:6 where it notes Everlasting Father - "Ab" in Hebrew means Father of something. Ex: Isa 22:21 as well as names such as Abigail.
I am familiar with the Oneness book and Bernard. I have read some of it and am familiar with the arguments. I am also familiar with how he tends to not give complete scriptural citations and misunderstands the context of verses. One example is Psalm 2:7 Bernard misses that the New Testament quotes all refer to the resurrection. Contradicting his notion of when the Son was officially "begotten" making it out to be the birth of Christ not the resurrection of Christ.
Additionally, Bernard states that the Father and Son are not the same yet all throughout proclaims they are one in the same. What I find odd is that he and others can grasp two in one with reference to the dual nature of Christ, but fail to grasp the Trinity.
He fails to understand that Logos of which the word logic derives means "reasoning by word" Jesus is the Word of God, God speaks his plan, thought, through his Word, He always has, John 1:3 nothing that has been made was made without...
God's Word (Jesus) existed not in thought or plan, but with God period. You must ask yourself if God does everything through speaking his Word (Psalm 33:6, 9) then was God without his Word up until the creation of Jesus? This is how Jesus is the mediator between God and man. God judges by his Word. God has done all through his Word. Jesus is the Word, not the thought or plan.
Further if Jesus was just a human spirit, body and soul then God did not truly die for us and the sacrifice is invalid
...Ephesians outlines the same two components - belief and hearing. John 3:16 denotes if you "believe" that God sent his one and only Son you will have eternal life. Romans 10:17 faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God (Christ). Ephesians 2:9-10 salvation is by faith. Eph Chpt 2-3 shows you how you are "in" Christ. The Father sends the HS in Jesus name (Gal 4:6) because the HS is now "God with Us." Revelation 22:17 setting is earth calling to Jesus. Who calls? The HS & the church.
God sent his son who was MADE. Made denotes that the son was not eternal
Galations 4:4But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
I notice Bernard skips Daniel 2:45. Is the stone the entire mountain? Is the stone representative of the mountain, same in substance even?
Made of a woman. Did Jesus come out of a man or did he just appear by the Holy Spirit? No, he was made of a woman, conceived by the Holy Spirit within that woman. Bernard mistakenly denotes Son of God as his humanity. Son of means "order of" Jesus came in the order of God and the order of Man, hence the dual nature.
Water baptism Acts 8:36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Ephesians 5:26 "washing of water by the word" How does this occur? You hear the Word of God and you believe the Word of God. Then you are baptised with the Holy Ghost. When you "receive" meaning welcome the Holy Ghost into your life you are anointed with your spiritual gift. Jews received/welcomed guests in their house (ala body) by anointing them with oil as a gift.
The church there was full of divisions, with various groups claiming to be followers of Paul, Peter, Apollos, or Christ. When Paul rebuked them for their divisions, he asked, "Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?" (I Corinthians 1:13)
Arise and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22:16). In Trinitarian churches why do they say I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? What is the point
I see you did not care to investigate the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob I noted. Is this worth our time then? Do the scriptures not say you should be open to correction? It does not matter what the person baptizing you says, it matters what you believe in your heart, salvation is by faith alone. Do you believe this?
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is prophetical, yes. But it further relates again to God's relationship with man, not the Godhead itself. The Father in creation, the Son in redemption, and The Holy Ghost in the resurrection. Salvation is by faith alone, yet James understood active faith, saying that faith without works is dead faith.
James 2:17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
James 2:26 the body without the spirit is dead. Bernard says Jesus has a human Spirit in addition to his Divine Spirit. When the Son ceases to exist what happens to his human Spirit? Does he destroy it? Does he destroy our spirits?
If Jesus quotes the law of two persons acting as witnesses and he and his Father is each one witness then he didn't lie. Did he? Even as a Oneness follower you must admit the existence of two here.
Bernard says a person has to have a body. Did Jesus think so here?
So the structure of that relationship is what? The Holy Spirit fills Elizabeth prior to John's birth, David asks got not to remove his Spirit from him. Was this premature? Does Abraham and Isaac exist at the same time? What bout Isaac and Jacob? How many relationships does God have with us other than a Father child one?
You are right on James, one who has faith has works. no one denies that.
Ephesians 2:8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
And he goes on to say that we are created in Jesus unto good works. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
They say he is Lord, but if you don't know who Jesus is, how can you worship him? I have another question, how is it the bible says that the baby Jesus was conceived of the Holy Ghost, yet that "God the Father" is his father? Would that mean that the Holy Ghost is also his father in person? Explain that.
I understand you don't think I know who Jesus is. You assume Trinitarians don't believe Jesus is God. I think it is interesting that a Oneness believer can accept the dual nature as two persons in one being, but cannot grasp the Trinity of three persons in one being. What it shows is that all three were active in the birth of Christ. You believe Jesus came into existence at that point, a manifestation. Mic 5:2 states otherwise 1 Cor 15:24, 28 what happens to Jesus after redemption is complete?

bro. cook needs to realize that there is POWER in the name of Jesus Christ... and that it's not just the "vocalization" of the name, or the tone of the name, but the NAME ITSELF.
glory.
it was by the name of JESUS that demons trembled and were cast out, it was by the name of JESUS that miracles were performed and healings took place. pray that the Lord God convicts bro. cook's heart. in Jesus' name, amen.
is the "trinity" even mentioned once, in the Bible? did Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, or Jesus Christ, so much as mention such a word? did our dear Lord Jesus Christ instruct us, to mention or teach of this word? then why, is it being mentioned and taught? because it's the tradition of man!
damanfrom808 1 month ago
Mr trinitarian baptism is a subsequent action w/c must not be negated by followers of Christ. It always follow after beleiving Mark 16:16 after repentingActs 2:38. Repentance is believing in the gospel of salvation that Jesus brought to anyone that will receive Him. Now if for a long time as a believer and you have not yet been baptized, there is a question of your true faith. You might as well not pray, read the bible and take communion, rebuke evil spirit, etc in Jesus name.
zedrev01 1 month ago
to the trinitarian: When I who is an unbeliever, then invite Jesus Christ in my heart who is Son only to you( Son, flesh, human) who then filled me with all the understanding that righteousness comes only from the Lord Jesus. Is it the Son that you called Jesus Christ? I think not anymore. He comes as the Holy Spirit who guides converts to the path of righteousness. You invite Jesus then Holy Spirit comes in. Then the Holy Spirit is Jesus Christ
zedrev01 1 month ago

Did Jesus come for peace?
Luke-ch-12-vs-51

God is neither a trinity nor three substances, making both the trinity dogma and oneness dogma, respectively, false doctrines.
God is ONE. This one God has a Son who is not the one God.
Peter tells us in plain language who Jesus is: "... the Son of the living God." Matt 16:16
John tells us in plain language that we must confess that Jesus is who?
... the Son of God in I John 4:15.
The debate is non sequitur to the plain teaching of the Bible.

Cook bad theology!
To major terms:
Word-preincarnated expression of God(eternal)
Son-incarnated expession of God(begotten)

That Is THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

TheScriptureMan 2 years ago
He states this is my Son, not now this is my Son. All of the Psalms references where it says The Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand today I have become your Father and you my Son is referenced after the resurrection not before. So was Jesus not the Son of God before. Peter sure thought so and he didn't deny him, plus God the Father felt so in your example.
TheScriptureMan 2 years ago
God in the beginning had the promise in mind. Jesus has always been God's word, you are correct in this respect. Made everything through/by his Word (Psalm 33:6, Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, etc. God spoke and creation occurred. The issue is God clearly denote the plural three times then the singular. He was talking to angels because verse 27 clarifies verse 26. Genesis 3:22, 11:7, Isaiah 6:8-13 are other examples. You are right the Word existed before, the Son is the Word.
TheScriptureMan 2 years ago
Scripture close but no cigar!!

Romans 3:10

Greebrew1 2 years ago

TheScriptureMan 2 years ago
Are you trying to tell me that the Jews believed in a 'Triune God'? Ask any Jew alive today and they would adamantly disagree with you. Their profession of faith (Deut. 6:4) caused them to be hated by other nations. Abraham, Moses, and David all served One God. Are they wrong as well for not praying to all three 'Co-Equal, Co-Eternal Persons' of the Godhead? If God was three persons in the OT why do we not find the Heroes of the Faith (Hebrews 11) praying to 'God the Son or God the Holy Spirit'?
gregoryhack 2 years ago

I didn't state that you deny JEsus is the Son, I stated you make God out to be a liar just like 1 John 5:10-12 states. How so? One - Jesus notes the law of two witnesses which refers to two persons.

Another verse besides Act 2:38 that uses Jesus name to baptize.
Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
WreckaNice 3 years ago
There is no specific verse that gives the exact verbaige for baptism except for what Christ notes in Mat 28:19 Regardless God judges your heart when it comes to salvation, not the mouth, Trinitarians wholly confess Christ as their Lord and Savior. Baptising in the "name of" Christ means the authority of Christ of which has been "given" to him. Jesus that authority as The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit (Jehovah). You can't baptize a Jew if he won't say God's name, hence Jesus's name.
TheScriptureMan 2 years ago
There is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. All baptisms in the bible were in the name of Jesus. All of the synoptic gospels show the same scene, and all commanded that we should be baptized in Jesus name. The word of God is like a treasure hid in a field, it's a revelation, and the following scriptures show it. Matthew 28:19 Mark 16:16. and Luke 24:47 What is the father's name, and what is his son's name if thou canst tell?

Revelations 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
goomee3d 1 year ago
Trinitarians do not deny Jesus is the one on the throne, it says this throughout - Psalm 110:1 - 1 Corinthians 15:28, and even Rev 3:21 believers sit down on Chris's throne as well. Jasper and sardine, sardis, ruby or carnelian depending on translation refer to Christ, the first and last stones of the high priest plate the first being reuben which means "Behold a son" and the last Benjamin my middle name which means "son of my right hand." Use this for Jehovah Witness as proof not a Trinitarian
TheScriptureMan 1 year ago
Again, Trinitarians believe in only one God. As noted before why can you understand the dual nature of Christ as two persons, but one single being, yet fail to grasp the Trinity which is three persons within the single entity of God?
Exodus 3:14-15 I noted for you to review this passage. Note God of Abraham (Father) God of Isaac (Son) and God of Jacob (Holy Spirit) Does Matthew 28:19 make more sense now? Still think they are titles? ar ehte God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob titles or the I Am?
TheScriptureMan 1 year ago

Because as the bible says, there is One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism.
goomee3d 1 year ago
You are right one baptism. 1 John 5:1 whoever believes is "born of God" Christ is the fountain of living water (Jer 2:13) so how are we born again? What happens just prior to birth? A woman's water breaks. Is this holy water or sinful water? How are we washed of sin, by earthly water or heavenly water? You exalt the power of earthly water.
TheScriptureMan 1 year ago
Just as man cannot live without literal water, man cannot live without the Word of God (Christ), however, the Word of God is the only one with real power as he is the living water. Revelation, living water will flow from the throne, in other words, God's Word will flow from the throne. If baptism by literal earthly water was a requirement then it would not be salvation by faith through grace for grace is unearned and undeserved. This act would be a work and salvation is not by works. (John 3:16)

Spirit of his Son, one Spirit or two?

TheScriptureMan 1 year ago

TheScriptureMan 1 year ago

Explain that.
goomee3d 1 year ago
