  • Why does everyone in the art industry use Apple computers?

  • @refinden

3 reasons (not a complete list):

    1) apple have always claimed to be "at the intersection of technology and the liberal arts". although they're a very profitable business, they come off as social activists empowering individual expression.

    2) they focus on making their products simple to use, which tends to draw in the less technically hardcore.

    3) anyone with design sensibility has a hard time resisting the aesthetics of apple's hardware/software. it stands out.

  • @refinden apples have a lot of simple additions that make it easier to perform a workflow. I use windows because I use a lot of programs that are not available for mac os. Mac does have the best video editor and sound editor. I will start using mac os as a virtual machine when I switch to a intel cpu.

  • Got a quick question which adobe software is best for creating flashy event flyers? Got some one that does nice flyers but she wouldn't say what software she uses. Thanks a lot.

  • Thank you! x

  • Great info, thanks much! I would love to know how to bring in my pics from photoshop of models that I have taken the background out so I have a model surrounded by transparency but when I bring them in to indesign they have a white background behind the model. I would like to just bring in the model so she can be over two colors in the document. Can you help me do this please. Thank you. Bill Newsome

  • @phatness222 Hey there! Have to attempted to save your pictures of the model as a png? The issue with the fileformat might be that you're saving in jpg or some other format that doesn't allow for transparency.

  • @ctdrgnify (have you attempted)*

  • I find your explanation very useful and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing.

  • Is there a way to transform text just by dragging the pins, like you would in PhotoShop?

  • which program do you prefer indesign or illustrator?

  • Hi @upindust InDesign and Illustrator are like apples and oranges. One is primarily for layout and the other for vector design. Although many will also use Illustrator as a layout tool as well.

  • is it free??

  • @angel21baseball

    It's several hundred dollars.

  • @angel21baseball the whole adobe creative suite is $2,600, but if you're enrolled at a University you can get the whole suite for about $300 to $400 through your University at a student discount. the Whole suite comes with Indesign, Photoshop etc...

  • Good stuff, look forward to viewing more in future. Thanks v much.

  • Thanks a ton man! :D

  • Bring on more InDesign tutorials. You are very easy to follow and actually explain things. I echo the comments on creating a product catalogue and managing images.

  • how do you design a magazine 2 page side by side design with text

  • how do you put an image in?

  • @LittleMissBlackart FILE, OPEN and open a photo or just copy paste

  • @LittleMissBlackart file > place

  • @LittleMissBlackart ctrlD (or find the place command)

  • @LittleMissBlackart Command D

  • @LittleMissBlackart Go to "Place" I think in Files.

  • @LittleMissBlackart File > place ... Choose your image

  • @LittleMissBlackart File > Place

  • Howdy @LittleMissBlackart "File - Place" is one way or the keyboard shortcut for that on a Mac is Command-D.

  • @LittleMissBlackart copy&paste haha seriously

  • @LittleMissBlackart should be able to drag and drop?

  • love this tutorial!

  • Could you do a trouble shoot type of tutorial. I know how to use master pages but i.e. creating a blank text box I can type into that is in the same location on every page or when I place rich text from another program like Word, I have trouble doing. I placed rich text from word but I can't move the frame and its content onto the page. I did it before but now for some reason I cannot do it. Thanks Techguru!
