So sad. Take solace that he had a career that made him and others watching fill with joy. Without people like that in life the world would be a very dull place. Here's to the Todd Green's of this world.
Just a little bit of advice. If you're going to make a tribute to a person who fell to their death, don't include the footage of him falling to his death.
Idiot!
You said yourself it was the worst thing any person could see so why the frig did you include it in a 'tribute' video.
I'm sure his family has this horrible footage burned into their minds and they don't need to see it again.
@fedex727rj Still at it little boy. Funny how ppl like you got all the courage in the world when you are faceless, nameless and safe behind your keyboard. Would you like my address so you take the opportunity to say that to me in person? Or should I come to you? I'll even pay for your plane ticket. You really should go away you pathetic twit. Please take my challenge if you dare. Your disrespect to Todd Green and to all who come here to say a few kind words is remarkable. You need to be hurt.
@Toddinfantry Obviously I've gotten under your skin. Mission accomplished. You act as if you knew the idiot. I don't respect idiots. You got it idiot!!
@fedex727rj Don't endear yourself too much dipshit, you are way to small to even be much consequence. Didn't think you would take it and I even offered to buy your ticket. Typical.
I was there both days, I also got him falling on tape, but, I stopped taping as soon as I saw him fall thru my view finder! It is NOT right to follow anyone down to his death or injury. This will be in my head for along time. RIP. Todd.
"A Loving husband!" "A caring father?!!" Well, why in the world he did things like that!?!? His wife and children might be really happy about now.... :(
@Toddinfantry The chute wouldn't have to deploy all it would have to do is come out the pack and slow him enough that he would live but with 2 broken legs
that said though he did try first time and couldn't get a grip on the skid so really he should have called it off there for safety but that's just my opinion
@stratagie1 I have only military static line jumps, so I am no chute expert. Maybe, in the 200 feet or so that he fell a chute may have done some good. I don't know, as none of us do. Ppl have fallen from great hts and lived and some fall 6' and die, who's to say. As the old saying goes...better to have it and not need it than to need it and have none. I think this was the third attempt and yes, he should have probably said enough. I appreciate and respect him for trying, even tho it killed him
@stratagie1 OK, a quick research burst reveals that you are quite correct. We can now put the chute question to bed. At the 200 ft alt. he should have had almost a full chute, if he pulled the cord immediately and been in a close to correct position (not leading with his back with feet at or above head level. A small reserve size chute would have deployed enough to maybe save his life. The research and vids are out there to find. I would think a small safety wire would have been his best bet.
@Toddinfantry But really he shouldn't have done it as he was told there where 15 knot winds and he tried first time and failed but then again he paid for his bad choices didn't he
@stratagie1 We all do. I will not say that his choice was wrong, he was the man that had to make that call. If he had made it, this wouldn't even be a discussion. You say you are a Marine, so you should know that sometimes Fate sticks a finger into things and sometimes you make it and sometimes you don't. I just wish the best for his family and friends, they who bear the real pain.
RIP. He was a husband and father- I felt he should have been wearing a parachute just in case for them. But I guess that's not being a daredevil- he died what he loved doing. My thoughts are with his family.
A parachute from only 200 feet would not have enough time to slow his fall. He performed the stunt several hundred times successfully. The FAA is looking into the possibility of a large bird causing the accident.
@fedex727rj Oh I can handle the comments, what I can't handle is a dick like you thinking you are funny and you are not. I guess you are just another "it's my right to be uncivil". Ya it is your right, many have fought and died for your "right", doesn't mean you have to use it. It is called consideration. I can see you have none. By the way Dick, my mother is dead. Try growing up some would you.
the thoughts that go through peoples minds seeing it on tv are oh its bad but from the first hand experience and watching it as it happened it was so traggic and i truely pray for his family friends and the pilots of both the plane and the helicopter, i can not describe how i feel except for shocked and sad R.I.P. it was incredable to see the day before and knowing he died doing what he loved. he can be happy. but the other side is why would someone do this???? R.I.P my regards to the family
@psychedelnick1 Sorry, I can't think like that. More ppl are killed driving cars so does that make driving a car stupid? Faster yet...a race car driver, should they just stop a stupid sport? Over 1200 ppl die each year from electrocution in the home, so is electricity stupid? What you and I may think is stupid, others do not. It is not for us to be their judge. He had completed this stunt many times. He died living! We all have to die, how are you going?
@NWA1503 No I wasn't in the air show. I was flying back from NYC to Pontiac in a Falcon 20 (corporate twin jet engine). We flew over the field at about 6,000 ft.
I remember watching him the day before, he hugged his wife goodbye hopped on the plane and taxied out with a big smile on his face waving to everybody, It's sad to see this happen to someone.
Nice tribute to someone who died doing what he loved to do. Condolences to the family. To those of you who want the "full video" ...that's just sick curiosity.
I'm sorry, How can this be a proper tribute to the man if your showing his fall. People don't need to see that to know what happened. The investigation is still under way to piece together that tragic moment. The officials didn't want this material online. If you wanted a tribute to him and to respect his life, you would have turned in a copy of that video to the sheriff and kept that scene out of the tribute.
I don't feel sorry for this man. Anyone stupid enough to do this stunt w/out any safety or backup devices had a death wish. Feel sorry for people whose lives were taken from them not their own doing. The man indirectly committed suicide.
