  • creepy reminds me of my history teacher in 2nd form

  • well relax and enjoy my company

  • If I were to become a teacher, it would be hilarious to have a class with these names...

  • what does he say at the very beginning while everyone's cheering?

  • hehe i will help you to feel like you are in heaven

  • HE IS SO PRO!!!!

  • I wish british comedy was still this good.

  • at 5:04 Nibble. NIBBLE ! LEAVE THE ORFICE ALONE

  • hiya Im professional BALLET dancer. You can ask me to give you ballet show

  • ممتاااااااااز ياحسافته

  • something sounded like cosecant. haha.

  • "Nibble"!

  • That is one massive class!

  • I wish I understood what he was saying lol

  • Thanks!

  • @Krakenwave He had the Poynes (or Poines) correct, actually.

And once and for all everybody, it's "Tear", like "tear a sheet of paper in half."

  • Once again, as people continuously state, he didn't almost crack. The smirk was an intentional part of the routine to make the teacher seem like even more of a smug bastard.

  • "Plektrum" sounds somehow disgusting or naughty.

  • NIBBLE! LEAVE ORIFICE ALONE!

    Genius!

  • NIBBLE had me in tears

  • Teh? Teh?

  • Zobb in my country means dick

  • Essentially, it is a list of words, and we are laughing at him saying them. Only Rowan Atkinson....

  • Anesley Babcock Bland Carthorse Dint Elsworlth Beast Major Elsworlth Beast Minor Heamoglobin Kosigin Loudhaler Muttock Nancy Boy Potter Nibble Orothis Plecktrum Poynes Sedement Soda Teeh Undermanager Zob WOW 21Students small class
  • @17GreenDayFan17 It's "Orifice", not "Orothis".

  • @17GreenDayFan17

If you're gonna go to all this trouble, get them right. Many of these are real words/real people's names (and what many of the jokes are about) so how you managed to fuck most of them up and yet still botherin the 1st place is beyond me.

Ainsley, Babcock, Bland, Carthorse, Ditt, Ellsworth-Beast (Major), Ellsworth-Beast (Minor), Hemoglobin, Kosygin, Loudhailer, Muttock, Nancy-Boy Potter, Nibble, Orifice, Plectrum, Poise, Sediment, Soda, Tah, Under-manager, Zorb.

  • ZZOB.

  • 34 people were on that roll, i roughly counted, and yes its a double meaning.

  • Is there any chance to find this sketch with subtitles? =)

  • Enunciation is a central part to his humour

  • Just try and write!!

  • When was this recorded (in TV) from which year is it??

  • @JaroslavGrygar8 It's from The Secret Policeman's Ball - a stage show from 1979.

  • @JaroslavGrygar8

This was a benefit for Amnesty International - recorded over the four consecutive nights of live performance at a London theatre in June 1979. It yielded a one-hour TV special, a full-length movie, and two record albums (one each of comedy and music performances). The comedy album was a must-have in the early 80s in the UK - everyone in my school knew it off by heart. It introduced the Pythons to Gen X - who were just a little too young have have seen their original TV show.

  • i watch this over and over to see if i can squert milk out my noes (i need to go to the bathroom)

  • Trying to learn English that way is a kind of slippery, but it works ! Try Otto if you want to learn German or Coluche for the french lessons. Humor is the universal language, so yeah !

  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Use ink only, via a nib if possible,

  • HAHAAA ZOB!!! hahaa that cracked me up!!!

  • I went to high school briefly in Cambridge, England in 1973. The horrifying thing is that this clip isn't even parody. It really was like this. Only the names were different.

  • >_< I can't hear anything... :( Though his act is really hillarious, of course :D

  • wow he was so young here. :)

  • what a hillarious guy .... :P

  • There are barely a handful of people alive who can look THAT serious while keeping their audience rofling.

  • @Kruggy0 idd, he's one of the few ppl who's managed to make 3 generations laugh without saying a word

  • @Kruggy0 He nearly lost it at 4:08. i think. I see a wee smile creeping...

  • @JackyRowe Yes. I thought the same thing. But he managed to go back being serious again. But I did see that smirk. Cute.

  • HAHA "Dint"

  • @MoveOverCasanova This was after someone in the audience yelled "Here!" That's how you handle a heckler! The Genius that is Atkinson!

  • i'd love it if he really was my teacher lol

  • what does this have to do with a secret policemans ball

  • Apperently this was performed at the secret policemans ball. Not that I'd know, as I wasn't there, not being a secret policeman and all.

  • oh, thank you for letting me know that.

  • @unanimose The Secret Policeman's Ball was a live performance by various comedians, etc, to raise money for Amnesty International, which is a charity to help people imprisoned purely for their beliefs or opinions in countries where these beliefs/opinions are uncovered by, for example, secret police....hence the ironic name of this charity performance.

  • thanks for telling me.

  • @unanimose

Amnesty International (human rights) organise this comedy show each year - they call it the secret policemans ball as a dig at repressive regimes

  • @speedbanana2008

yes they do hold one each year except the 1976/79 ones are the most well-known and best ones

  • Sediment!

  • "Yes, ISN'T life tragic."

  • no it was a romance play

  • thank you

  • sooo funny!!!

  • I wish I was born in the UK, there are so many slangs i don't understand and they dont teach them at English School. It's still funny though. Rowan Atkinson is awesome.

  • Snide, cunning, brilliant. A genius.

  • amazing

  • You may use dividers, but not on each other. :'D Lmao!

  • There's something very Snape about this...

  • Predates Snape by about 10 years. On that subject, Alan Rickman was one of the only people in those Potter movies that made them remotely watchable. Thank goodness they had the foresight to cast actual UK actors for those films, as Hollywood actors couldn't fake a British accent to save their lives.

  • lol funny but the volume is loud for me and when he say nible! its sounded like NIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nancy boy potter....eh LOLZ

  • whats the funny about "nancy boy potter"? i dont speak english very well, so i havent got the funny obout these names

  • "Potter" is a normal surname (family name).

"Nancy boy" is sometimes used to describe a man who is effeminate.

  • lol.. idiot

  • this was made too early to be a Harry Potter reference. Atkinson is a sheer Genious

  • he went to oxford, but i dont think he would be wasting his time takin the rise out of harry potter, either way youre a goner

  • @AineCork Harry Potter didn't exist when this happened

  • Comment removed

  • @AineCork Yeah, this is just a joke on English names and prep schools.

  • I lost it at "undermanager"

  • Why is this titled "secret policeman's ball?"

  • because thats the event where he is performing this

  • Reply to ' 2000jago'

It's actually titled ' The Schoolmaster Sketch'.

But it's listed under 'Secret Policeman's Ball' because that was the name of the Benefit Show for Amnesty International, which he gave his performance for here.

  • yea

  • Hahahaha I absolutely adore him.

  • he is a teacher actually XD

  • its the same fucking language you just dont want to admit that your a dimwit.
