@fingerboarder329 well you have to activate it so i guess you need a service unless you do a bypass activation look it up on google and you can just use wifi but if you want to make phone calls recommend voggle app text and talk free but with data im not sure if it will run of wifi but go for it there great phones i have the pixi and i work with pageplus i dont use the web much so great grab.

Man I love this phone & this company. I have never owned any Palm products in my life til the last three months. I fell in love with my Palm Pixi Plus. Then yesterday I freak'n dropped it & didn't know it until I found it smashed by my car. I don't think it would even broke if a rock wasn't under it...it still freak'n rang and I could see the screen, but I couldn't unlock it to answer it because my touch screen was broke. I went down today & bought another one & Palm had all my stuff backed up.

@brianbeck08 theses phones need a data plan to go through activation i would recommend sence it has wifi and most likely you will not be useing web out of home get pageplus cellular to activate it for you i have a pixi plus and i dont use the web at much when im out of home so pageplus is great.

Launching calendar and contacts information is slower than with Palm OS. I depend on instantaneous launch on my Palm Centro. Is it possible to leave the calendar and contacts cards on and then have the phone in your pocket and pull it out and have them on? It seems to me that's the real purpose of multitasking-- to leave applications on in the background and have them available when you need them. Your thoughts on this subject appreciated . . .

@InternetTV55 No, the Pre Plus is better. The Pre Plus has more Ram, so that means it has a faster processor and can hold more apps at once. Also, it comes with more internal storage. And, Palm often forgets and the Pixi, and doesn't give it the same treatment it does to the Pre/+. Sorry, these are the facts.

@hotpeacechick Just because there is more RAM in the Pre Plus doesn't mean it has a faster processor. The Pre's processor is 600 mHz (underclocked to 500). The Nexus One has a 1 gHz processor. Twice as fast. The Pre does have more RAM, but that's because WebOS is heavy on multitasking and Android really isn't.

Palm Pixi buyers- Beware!! This phone fades when you are in a warm environment. I am in Tucson, AZ and as soon as it hits 85-90 degrees the screen goes blank/black. The phone looks like it is off. The refrigerator cures it faster. Major issue here that needs immediate attention.

@beefyskittles While I can't say this is true for all companies (though it most likely is), on Verizon the data plan is a monthly fee. Unlimited data plan for Verizon will add $30 a month.
