Quick question, what did you use to make the bass sound so .. boomy? I see its a sine wave but i can never seem to get that subby sound quite like that.
Hey man, thanks for the comment. Sub bass is something that is so important in techno that I spent a long time just practicing to get it sounding nice. Strangely, it has as much to do with the kick drum that you are using as the bass noise itself - if you're using a really bassy kick then try rolling off the bottom end a little. Then a simple sine wave will do and just find a pitch where it sounds nice and build a track around that! Hope that helps. :)
Cheers for the reply! Yeah i've spent god knows how long trying to get that right techy sub sound. But yeah i think it might be my kicks that are causing the probs. Just a matter of sticking with it eh :) Thanks for the advice.
No worries man - always happy to lend a hand where I can! Stick with it and you'll have a tasty rolling sub in no time. Listening back to this vid the sub bass is awful! Too intense - sometimes less is a lot more with things like that.. :)
Hey man, thanks a lot for the comment! You'll find that all the sounds in this tune are really easy to make with the Virus - the main noise is just a square wave with white noise and a slow LFO on the pitch of it, the bass is just a sine wave, and the other noises are just tweaked waves with a bit of rate reduction on them etc! Good luck, I listened to your vids and I'm sure you'll be squeezing some great noises out of the C in no time... :)
just aint my style thats all. and yea it is tight. this aint the sorta stuff thats gonna get people off there seats to have a dance. umek years ahead...
I agree a bit, I mean... I'm not trying to be critical for the sake of it, but if these guys want to go anywhere, they're going to have to catch up with guys like Umek...
I know what you're saying but in all fairness, this is the first track we've made together. We made it over a 3 day period in which we had a maximum of a couple of hours each night. So it's not as if it's a serious track, it was just made for fun.
Thanks for the comments any, appreciate the feedback.
Double dose!!! Bring it on!!! Fantastic song well done, upgrade stage, like the beat, very bouncy, uplifhting and happy song 5/5!!! Simon have a look on myspace i've upload there my last song don't have time to do the vid
I like almost everything about this track, ex except for 2 things: the ride cymbal and the main tune! [starting at 1:53 and also starting and 4:22] It's a bit too "happy" for my taste and I think would be better lower and more sinister sounding. The use of effects is brilliant though, and for your first tune together is really impressive, I can't wait to hear more stuff
Hey man, thanks a lot for the comment! Glad you liked the track - we're pretty proud of it as its the first we've ever made together. Hurry up and get some more of yours online... :)
this is professional quality work.

Simple? And I guess you could do a whole lot better? No way man, these guys are fresh and tight - there's nothing simple about this track.
I'm looking forward to your video response.
