  • I remember good old brian. I was 12 at the time he retired. I missed hearing the news with my family. We all love you Brian

  • If you had to hear the News, whether Good or Bad, You had to hear it from Brian Henderson.Television News Reporting has never been the same since "Hendo" retired.

It would be amazing if he would come back for say just 1 week on National 9 News for a special appearance. Ratings would be so High.

  • After Brian left, Jim Waley didn't last too much longer and got shafted by Channel 9. Nowadays the Channel 9 new team can't hold a candle to the Henderson years

  • You don't happen to have his Toasted and Roasted Special by any chance do you?

  • @Callsy92 I've been looking for his Roast special for so many years, I can't find it anywhere! If you come across it pls let me know.

  • @natemarrett Yeah same here, will definitely let you know if I come across it

  • Brian was born in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. I was born and live in the same town.

Brian is awesome!!! i love watching him in old clips of Bandstand

  • Good

  • He really is the last of a really genuinly nice generation.

I don't know him but damn i miss him.

  • I'm one of those incompetent lying left-wing Labor fatheads, and I still think Brian Henderson was all class.

  • An Australian television legend.

  • And look at the sacks we have running the Australian Media these days,a bunch of incompetent left wing lying biased Labor Green Voting fatheads.Seriously Australia 2010 is an embarrasment

  • i remember the night this aired, i was only about 9

  • @TheTvGuru3 So, what you're 12 now???

    It wasn't that long ago!!

  • We still miss ya Hendo

  • On ya mate

  • wow how could they fit such a long tribute video into the bulletin? did they shorten aca a bit?

  • Sad hearing him say "That's the way it is, not Goodnight but... Goodbye" or something to that extent. Being a Brian myself I remember copping a hard time with "Brian told, Brian told me, Brian told me so..." etc. But now it's sad to see him gone!

  • we learn't alot from him

  • I enjoyed hearing the calm paced voice of Brian Henderson every night. Its a pity Ch 9 doesn't have any quality news readers anymore.

  • @newsnational they have a few!

  • @newsnational they've got plenty

  • I remember this bulletin as well. It was so strange to think that my whole short life Brian had told me the news and had been a role model, not only with his presentation and his manner of speaking but with that unwavering integrity of his. He is without doubt my number one inspiration for wanting to study journalism and now that I'm about to graduate, whether he knows it or not, I feel compelled to say thank you to him. That's most certainly 'the way it is'.

  • Too-Right !!!

  • @tskolarikis lol quite funny consdering he was never a journalist.

  • The current crop suck. Ian Ross is ok. But the rest are meh.

  • Funny how little things in life can be taken for granted like for instance listening to an excellent newsreader like Brian Henderson every week night.I really miss his sign offs.

  • Thanks Hendo, you were the best! I grew up with you reading the news every night...it'll never be the same..good luck!

  • Anyone remember tha news broadcast where he was like in dark?? When was this?

  • 1993

  • look at 5:12 lol.

  • I don't think I've watched Nine News, or any news, since he left.

  • Thanks for posting this, I remember watching it. Hendo was a great newsreader -Channel 9 hasn't been the same since. Not long afterwards Jim Waley was given the arse, ian ross moved to Channel 7 (after being named as Hendo's replacement), mark ferguson lasted only 3 years and now peter overton does the news. What a pity because Channel 9 had a great news room once. Unfortunately as with the rest of the Packer empire, once Kerry died, his son James stuffed it all up.

  • the king

  • I was born and grew up in SA. I joined Ch 9 there & worked hard for our local news crews. When I went interstate I worked close putting this man to air each nite. I had no idea who he was & it never hit me how much I miss working with him in my younger years in TV Operations at Ch 9. See ya Brian & thanks for bringing the best out in me in presenting the News to Australia. U dont know how many times I got my ass kicked wen Sh*t hit the fan live on air. Bruce, Darwin NT *retired from TV

  • I feel kind of stupid, I cried watching this.. I think because it reminds me of My grandfather, when i was little I use to watch the news at dinner with him, and hearing Brians Voice, reminds me of my time with my grandfather, and the nastalgia of spending time with him. Thanks for uploading this.

  • I miss this bloke heaps, I wish he was still reading the news today, he was one of a kind.

  • I cried

and I didnt even watch the guy.

  • The way it is - the way it has been with Henderson at the helm.

  • i still remember this. expect a similar tribute for Ian Ross when he signs off with Seven News sometime soon.

  • This was a nice send off to him and his replacement didn't last long

  • jim waley lasted two years, mark ferguson ever since 2005.

  • no one reads the news like him

  • thankfully!

  • I regret not taping his last broadcast - thanks for bringing some of it back. He read the preceding bulletin perfectly that night, no jitters whatsoever despite what must've been a very emotional evening.

  • Great find!
