It's a shame that the USA will probably end up the same way because out of the 80 million gun owners..only 4 million support the NRA. This is something the UN sees as a good thing and spokeswoman Rebecca Peters sees as a sign to move ahead towards total disarmament of the US populace. WAKE THE HELL UP AMERICANS..YOUR RIGHTS ARE BEING ATACKED> JOIN the NRA-ILA, JPFO, GOA..something. Fight back! The coward in the NY shooting was what "they" were waiting for...jpfo for free info + materials.
well 2 things here, you can get a mosin nagant and plenty other bolt action power rifles CHEAP at like big fives fairly easily (at least here in california the queerest state of them all)
and many of the poeple here really shouldn't be equiped with toy guns.... let alone real ones.
I solved this by getting a Pearce (spelling?) rubber grip. Reduced overall kick, and it was nice and cushiony on the back. If you get a rubber grip, be sure to get the right one, there's two different sizes for the two different makarov models and they are not interchangable (one is wider).
I have a makarov. The kick isn't bad at all, I love the gun. The only thing that I noticed is the standard grip (plastic) is cut a little bit low on the back, and it causes the metal to bite onto the soft spot between your thumb and pointer finger. It's not bad, but it'l wear on ya after firing 30 rounds or so. (continued in next post)
It wasn't a WASR. It was an AK-103 or -101 or something, but I couldn't recall which exact model afterwards. Since I wasn't sure, I just put "AK-10?".
no it is not if shot regular, it is a light bullet at slow speed from a pistol that weighs more then a small walter pp/ppk, those can be a bit kicky but not much.
The makarov is only a nine millimeter...but it is a light gun...so i would imagine it would have more kick because it is smaller in comparison to other heavier large frame pistols.
It's a shame your British friend can't experience this in his own country!

It makes you wonder if the Makarov you're buying might have shot up some Afghanies before...

Maks don't kick at all, really. Good gun for a woman (or anyone else, for that matter) to carry, because they're small and almost impossible to jam.
It fires a less powerful round (9x18mm Makarov round) than most 9mm's, and it's also heavy for its size. Not much of a kick.
Recoil MIGHT be harsh, but only if you're about 8 years old.
