  • whatta ya mean he sings it better than kriso? are you saying kris' aphoristic tales are better portrayed by those with serious vocal sensibilities? oh, you ARE saying that...well, if you turn the treble way up it helps...

  • @1skullduggery poor Kris can not sing

  • This has to be in the top 3 country songs ever written.

  • Yes Waiylon was great, but i also loved Johnny Cash. both were great

  • @rosemarie443 you got that right

  • Waylon Jennings was one of the most beautiful singers of the past

  • THANKS FOR THE AD -

I' lllisten to my favorite song on another channel from now on ! !

  • Didnt know KK wrote this...but I still prefer Tompall's version,

  • What a voice - I sure miss you Waylon.

  • @dawnjakeleah im with you

  • Kris Kristofferson was as masterful at his craft as Waylon. He could write like no one else.

  • love willie nelson's version

  • waylon was one of the best.

  • ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SINGERS. GREW UP LISTENING TO HIM. UNIQUE VOICE HE COULD SING ANYTHING

  • amazing song

  • awesome song!! by one of the greatist

  • Enjoyed.

  • A fabulous song about something only a few women can do. Finding one who can makes it easy to believe that it's never gonna end! Sadly, however, it does.

  • @Wagneryan i agree totally i have known such a women still to this day i would do anything she ask too bad she chose a different path

  • @quincesongs Exact same place I am at, but now she is in my life again and hurting just as much as before.

  • Tompall Glaser did a nice job with this too.

  • ~What a" soulful" musician... I am sure, Waylon was singing this for Jessi Colter, his partner and wife. ~We Remember...Waylon Jennings!

  • I started a facebook page for Waylon Jennings!! please like!!

  • EPIC! kk

  • waylon could sing anything he had the greatest voice ever period.

  • Sam Elliott's speaking voice and Waylon Jennings singing voice are two of the things wet dreams are made of :-)

  • love it just awesome

  • kick ass song

  • great writer great singer and there you are.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. it is awesome! terrific song, too-- one of my favorite waylong songs.

  • I love Kris, but Waylon sounded wonderful doing this beautiful song!

  • @Tracey1963 Kris writes some beautiful songs, but that man can not sing, sorry Kris

  • 'I bet you'd say Jesus looks a lot like Waylon" -Johnny Paycheck-Heavens almost as big as Texas I bet Jesus is enjoying Waylons singing right now!!! RIP Hoss

  • Why do we go on living ? when sadness, depression , so called bypolar , effects are considered mental sickness ? reality is that best soldiers are those with regrets beyond comprehension !

  • @sandhogy no sandhogy out soldiers should have no regrets, i know that killing somebody is very very hard to erase from you mind, and it is something that you can never do, but yu can tell yourself that, that was what you were supposed to do. the reason why we go on living is becaue that is what life is all about. if you go to somebody your best friend or a person who deals with depression and talk, and talk and talk maybe you can get you mind refreshed and be happy.

  • Same is true with "Me and Bobby McGee"

Kris wrote it and did a fantastic job singing it, but, J. Joplin sang it better than anyone.

  • To whoever you are commenting to ME about about Scientology, I am NOT a Scientologist and stuff your comments where the sun don't shine. Freedom of beliefs and freedom of speech are given rights...this is a comment page on Waylon Jennings and his beautiful music you idiot!!

  • @zanyzee63

Just a word of warning that your friend Jim Bales is a Scientologist, and like all Scientologists, are oblivious to the abuses that go on within the organization. Scientology ruins lives, breaks up families, harasses critics, forced women in their clergy to have abortions - and this is all encouraged by Scienetology's management, not by the individuals (meaning beliefs are not involved in this).

Would it at all be possible to educate your friend about this?

  • Waylon was the best!!!!!

  • @zanyzee63

Scientology not only tolerates lying but actually presents formal training in the subject:

"Purpose: To train the student to give a false statement with good TR-1. To train the student to outflow false data effectively. … The student should be coached on a gradient until he/she can lie facilely."

-L. Ron Hubbard, Intelligence Specialist Training Routine–Lying (TR-L)

  • @OpenComments The only thing they are missing is Jim Jones. Whack jobs.

  • Waylon was the best!!!!!

  • waylon sucks

  • @cadillacslim73 if you think that waylon sucks, then why did you come to this site. you had to look it up an decide to listen to the song and then make a remark. if you please keep those remarks to yourself

  • go back to sleep fuzzypants ... shave and your pants won't be fuzzy!

  • Really awesome version

R.I.P Waylon you will never be forgotten

  • WHERE THE HECK IS SHE???!!!!

  • Only Waylon could take a Kristofferson song and turn it rawer, rougher, but more bittersweet. He was the best.

  • The words of this song take me back to the best year of my life. One year of such happiness is not enough, but that's all some of us get.

  • While it would be impossible for me to choose a favorite Waylon song, this is without question near the top. Several years ago my (now) ex-wife gave me the "Waylon Jennings - the RCA Years" collector set, and it is one of my most prized possessions. It is loaded with powerful lyrics, fun songs, and one of the greatest voices to ever hit the air.

  • @george21985 You got that right, waylon was a great person and did a lot for the music business.

  • Waylon does everything better.

  • just sittin here doing this spanish homework and playin this song over and over. its amazing. Miss u Waylon.

  • Just wonder how many more great songs Waylon would have made if that plain carrying Buddy Holly, Jimmy Valient, and the Big Bopper never crashed. That crash had as much to do with Waylon's death than anything I believe.

  • beautiful writing by kris kristofferson and wonderful singing by waylon jennings...cheers to them both and may waylon rip

  • Another great song by a legend, thanks for posting this.

  • kris wrote this. willie nelson sang duet with dyan cannon in movie " honeysuckle rose " which i thought was totally the best. first time i've heard waylon singing it. best ever. sleep well , waylon.

  • Waylon just had the emotion and voice to make this such a wonderful love song.

  • @CurlyHairChris 100% agree with this comment!!

  • Kris wrote it and Waylon really delivered this song.

    Fantastic. RIP Waylon.

Tank you Kris. Keep on making your magic.

  • Ray Price wrote this song. Waylon and Kris did great covers.

  • @VolAddict47 No Sir It was written by Kris.

  • Totally agreed.

  • actually to tell the truth.. Waylon sang everything better than anybody else...

  • @kingslegion1 not necessarially. but Waylon is top notch

  • Na Waylon wrote it listen to his live version it explains it. Waylon wrote it, then Roger Miller picked it up, then Kris got it

  • @drewkb70

  • Waylon the greatest craic ever

  • Waylon = REAL country music (unlike most of the crap they play on the so called country stations now days).

    Thanks for the post Vince

  • This is a brilliant song. Great version by Waylon.

    thanks

  • Dang great song....

  • Hoss truly had one of the best voices I have ever heard.

  • A very good version, but I like Tompall and the Glaser Brothers' version best.

  • Man I miss this mans music. This is absolutely beautiful.

  • Waylon's the man! Just ask Willie.

  • he is the best ever was

  • Every one of Waylons video comments say the same thing, how much everyone misses him (me included) ........Think of how that makes him feel. He lived his life like we all should. Full and full speed ahead and get the most out of it while you can.

He didn't like limits to his music, we shouldn't limit things we want to do either.

Rest in Peace Brother, knowing you are still loved and alway missed.

  • Waylon's secret was he was a real man. You could see on his face the sorrows tribulations and ultimately strength. The Man Possessed. He was not a pretty boy but a mountain that could make you feel every word he sang. Waylon You Are Missed.

  • @oldtl345 you said it best, he was a REAL man, he wasnt about the show, his heart was in his music and you CAN feel it when he sings. I could listen to him all day and NEVER tire of him.. HE is GREATLY MISSED

  • this is a great song and an even better singer. kris kristofferson sang it beautifully also. waylon is missed

  • waylon did the best with what he had. for that he is one of the best. rip waylon

  • i LOVE Waylon.....always will

  • It's nice to see there are others who still appreciate real country and not this crap they play on the radio now.

  • It's nice to see there are others who still appreciate real country and not this crap they play on the radio now.

  • PISS on Dolly this is WAYLON GODDAMMED JENNINGS

  • I was forced when i was 9 to attend a waylon concert with my family.I AM GLAD I GOT TO EXPERIENCE THAT!

  • simply, this is a great tune...miss you hoss

  • this song reminds me of "Thats what makes the cowboys sing the blues" another good tune.

  • kris wrote this song but Waylon sang it better than anyone

  • So True !!!

  • @dust1nb3ss kris and willie live in aberdeen(part of the highwayman tour)push this close but i will ALWAYS vote for waylon

  • @dust1nb3ss U got that F in right my friend !!!!!!! Waylon is THE MAN !!!!!!!!

  • @dust1nb3ss Agreed!!!

  • I have about 28 waylon LPs Cassettes he still is the greatest +dvds & Vids

  • Amen: Waylon is always the best!!!!

  • Always the best!!!!

  • Well....as the old man said.......That's why they make chocolate, vanilla ....and chinaberry.

  • One of his best!

  • Waylon Jenn. has one of ( if not the best) voice in country music

  • i love this song soo much!!!

  • Kris Kristofferson was a great writer.....he was just a mediocre singer.

  • So was Bob Dylan

  • So was Robbie Robertson. He is actually not a very good singer.

  • So was Townes Van Zandt. Arguably one of the best songwriters ever. But his voice, plain as it was, could be like a punch in the stomach. I'd rather have a plain voice that can project real emotion than a trained voice that can't feel.

  • @mrbobevans you are nuts in this day and ageyou will not find a better femail sing than Dolly in her prime AND she did it wthout all the lights glits glamor or didgital remasterring (as George Strait calls it)

  • Maybe you are right about Dolly's voice. IMHO, I am only emphasizing that she is a better songwriter than singer. I have a hunch that she would agree with that.

  • this guy was and will be one of the greatest singer ever !!!! now watch out for jamey johnson too he"ll be around for awhile

  • didnt know waylons songs when he was alive, now know what i missed

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wish we had songs like this on the radio today sure would be the crap out of the new ones lol. cant get any better than this ..........:)

  • I'm lucky enough that the local radio station plays a solid two hours of this good stuff every sunday morning...it isnt enough, but its a hell of a lot more than most

  • man this reminds me of that old bar that i was taken to as a kid back in the 70s i would climb up on that bar stool and drink them long neck nehi.s all day. lol funny how we remember things like that over 30 years ago. isnt it??

  • kristofferson flat back jones brown oldman. p.h. d.h. caller-billy... ? do u knw him ? he is good

    he is doomed

  • i'll be at the gallpen goose tomorrow.. lov ya man..

  • one of my favorite songs............ :)

  • UIMITOR....

  • waylon can hop on my bike and ride with me .......:)

  • lol watch out for those fast women. even bikes can damage the skin

  • The man made you feel like riding fast bikes and good looking women. Waylon was the man.

  • what utter drivel i see oosred below,of course we all know kriss wrote it but some obviously dont understand what waylon, kriss, willie, johnny were all about.

  • aloha meleloke, bsinbreed's diease is called 'PROJECTION" its placing his/ her shortcommings on to others. you got it exactly right. in otherwords he.she is an ashole.

  • another classic - waylon, you are missed!

  • This is the best version of this song! W

  • This is wonderful ; thanks for posting.

    Miss you Hoss!

  • any discussion of great song writers has to include John Prine, Guy Clark, Townes Vandzant, and Billie Joe Shaver

  • There'll never be another Waylon..... Nice song!!!!

  • Actually Kriss Kristoferson wrote it!

  • all are great im an okie not from muskogee there is one cover that may be hard to find but richard buckner does it quite well

  • Kris Kristofferson was the original singer/song writer of this song and his version is pretty awesome but waylon put his heart into the song like he did with any song that he recoreded.

  • bsinbreed you are an absolute idiot, you wouldnt know a good song if it hit you in the face you retard, where do you live, I want to kick your ass

  • please do not confuse these comments to be about waylon, he was absolutley the best

  • I write songs and wish I could write just five or six lines as well a Kristofferson has. I did not know he was a good singer until I paid more than I should to sit about 20 feet in front of him in Boston in 2009. It was the best one-man show, just Kris, a guitar, a couple of harmonicas, and a mike. We're both 72, both played in Army clubs in Germany, both hung around Lafayette, LA, but he's like from another world. Try writing five, ten, twenty great songs, and you'll appreciate his work. JL

  • Kris was one of the best songwriters of all time without any doubt- but waylon sang this one better than all of em. I had to go and make this my ringback tone :)

  • I love reading the comments... always sure for a laugh!

I love your reply... RedAllison to bsinbreed...

    Too funny!

    I myself like the boys!

    Waylon, Johhny, Kris, etc.

    JJK

  • waylon on the other hand was one of the best ever, could even make this guys songs sound good. RIP waymore, you will never be replaced.

  • Your name DEFINITELY defines you, full of bs and an inbred. Kris an overrated writer? NINJA PLEASE. And exactly how much money have YOU made writing songs? Just because your brain can't comprehend good music when you hear it doesn't mean everyone else is wrong. Go take up golf and put the crackpipe down BOY!!!

  • Kris is a fantastic songwriter

  • Agreed. The lyrics aint too good, but Waylon kicks the living shit out of almost anything. =)

  • Did youcome on here just to wind ppl up? Or are you serious? If the latter, do you actually have a brain in your head? "and even worse song writer"??? Now I can take ppl disliking his voice (which I actually love) BUT... Name 5 better song writers in this genre over the last 40 yrs! Me & BBMG is one of the greatest songs ever and has been acknowledged as such; over 500 artists have covered it, all can't be wrong . Anyone is entitled to an opinion and it's seldom I'd call anyone brainless.. BUT

  • I think Kris would prob be one of the first to tell ya there is alot "prettier" voices. But one of the worse song writers is just pure blindness. And when Kris sings the right song....he's a great singer too.

I like the 2 you mentioned as well.....but c'mon now

  • ok maybe the worst songwriter ever is a little harsh, but i guess im to young to remember him as a songwriter, other than an over actor. do i need to remind you people of convoy? wait let me guess, you love that crap to. i do love this song when sung by waylon, but tell me, is it really the song that is great, or waylon?

  • Go smoke so more. Why do you think they call it dope?...Dope

  • shut up dink!

  • bsinbreed obviously has a self esteem problem and has to put down someone else to make himself feel important and attract attention. We may differ in our musical preferences, but No sane human being could be that far out of touch with what constitutes quality lyrics and superb presentation. Give him thumbs down and don't let him ruffle your feathers.

  • If Kris K was such a terrible song writer than why have so many respected musicians like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Don Williams, Janice Joplin, etc recorded his songs. I trust their opinions far more than yours.

  • lol mrbobevans. great point. there. im not even going to waist my time reading the other guys comment. kris was the best song writer. may he rest in peace with the rest of them. god bless.

  • Kris is still alive and does not need to rest yet.

  • reminds me of good ol' saturday morning beer drinking

  • I agre with Shoulderghost,Kris is one of the greatest writer of country songs ever ,,even better than Hank Williams, correction not one of the best ,THE BEST.

  • Roger Miller also covered this tune .. It isn't so bad either ...

  • The master!

  • Wonderful sound. Such a great song!

    Thank you!!!

    Great quality.

  • im the irish dukes of hazzard love him

  • mannfm 11..."Kris didn't write songs for long that I know of. He should have never quit. ".. Mann, what are you on? I know at least 300 Kristofferson songs and not a bad one in them. Such is the beauty of his poetry that I suspect that som time in the future it'll be put on university curriculae for Englsih literature. IMHO. And he hasn't quit. At 73 he's still lining words together that I, and I'm sure you, only wish we could ever do. One of the best word-smiths I've ever read or heard.

  • would have loved to have spent some time with waylon, absolute legend and wouldve learnt alot just being in his presence

  • well oys,all i know is waylon and willie are a couple god ole boys, and my heros and if u don't like that kiss my yankee a**.i've been down a few wrong roads myself, that don't make anyone a bad person.God bless em

  • waylon is #1. I do this song in karoke and I didn't know Tompal did it until I bought Kris' double CD where he does the songs on one and others do the same songs on another. They did Tompals version. Kris didn't write songs for long that I know of. He should have never quit.

  • It dosen't get any better than this.... Kris Kristofferson's writing and Waylon Jenning's singing.....Thanks for posting!

  • Waylon does a great job with this song. Thanks for sharing it.

  • ennings was born in Littlefield, Texas, the son of Lorene Beatrice (née Shipley) and William Alvin Jennings. When Waylon was eight, his father taught him how to play guitar, and Waylon formed his first band two years later. During his time working as a DJ, he befriended Buddy Holly. The two were inspired by the music of the Mayfield Brothers of West Texas, Smokey Mayfield, Herbert Mayfield, and Edd Mayfield. When he was twenty-one, Jennings was tapped by Holly to play bass in Holly's new band

  • Wonderful! Waylon and Johnny- howyou are missed!!!

  • acashfan1 how do you sleep at night?how do you live with your self?you are very hostile and very abusive.your looking to argue.your now blocked and ignored!

  • Why do you use the word "your" when you mean "you are." The contraction for that is "you're." acashfan1 should feel fortunate that someone so ignorant blocked her (or him).

  • Ray Price had agreat recording of this... its all in what you prefer, they are all good.

  • Tompall Glasser and his bros, of "put another log on the fire" fame had a smoother more commercial version of this (more harmony and higher key) and it was on the charts fairly high around 77 or 78 when he was hangin out with Waylon. I love Waylon but I am more folkie/americanna and prefer Kris's original. For those who love this song-(a song that proved that "hillbilly" music could have real "extestential" poetry) Particularly the ladies, you might want to check out tompall's version.
