  • He should of played in the NHL and the he wouldn't of died. Russia is a bad league.

  • КРАСАВА !!!! на все времена !!!!! после ухода поколения хоккеистов СССР хоккей лично для меня не интересен

  • Unless you are Don Cherry.

For some weird reason the Canadian players were happier to beat the Americans than the Russians. Canada does not have a higher level of hatred against the Russians than the Americans anymore. That's a fact. It has been like that for the last 20 years.

  • @BBQFanNo1 , gotta disagree, the Canadian/Us rivalry is based on the nations, the Canada/Russia rivalry is a Hockey rivalry which i prefer. As a hockey rivalry the Canada/Us rivalry sucks, usa hasnt won f@ck all to make it a rivalry

  • RIP.

  • King K

  • CSKA - The central sports club of army

  • InnocentWar1, спасибо за поддержку.Тебе тоже привет из России!

  • i played CSKA red army junior 1997 hokey team in chicago Nike Bauer invitational tournament they are pretty good

  • Players stronger Kharlamov was not, nor you in Canada or the USSR, it is foolish not to acknowledge and praise the cast of your players, in fact they were worse nego.Pochemu then he play with your superstars like bowling training, look full of video games and be convinced. Your players are always playing dirty hockey, because it matched the Soviet players.

  • Хоккей в СССР был на высоте. И играли чисто!

  • Лучше Валеры в хоккей не играл никто, он игрой доказывал, что он лучший, а не провокациями и драками, как хвалёные канадские звёзды.

  • Cut the crap Vadim! There were many guys in North America better that Harlamov. He was good but not the best at all! That's just your russian big mouth speaking :D

  • Would you name a few please?

  • @2209Vadim Так верно, так верно. Привет из Швеции.

  • Russian superhero like Tom Cruise

    But Real Hero

    RIP

  • Rip Kharlamov, truly one of the best ever.

  • Canada Cup = cheating on Russia.....

  • I was a 13 year old In 1972 thinking we were going to crush the soviets because of our canadian players, even though the WHA took away bobby hull, and bobby orr was hurt.

By game 4, we loved tretiack, kharalemov and yakushev. no long as we beat them..

  • he is coming over my house my grandfather knows him!

  • To add to earlier discussion, here's my all-time Russian top 10. Note that I tend to give more credit for Soviet league and WC success and less for stuff like Canada Cups and Summit series - meaningless exhibitions. 1. Vsevolod Bobrov (maybe the greatest Soviet athlete, period) 2. Anatoli Firsov 3. Boris Mikhailov 4. Nikolai Sologubov 5. Sergei Makarov 6. Slava Starshinov 7. Valeri Kharlamov 8. Slava Fetisov 9. Evgeni Babich 10.Vladislav Tretiak Fedorov/Alexandrov very close.
  • Tretiak is way too low

  • "...WC success..."

Never did WC have all the best players (pre-1988?) participating, therefore close to meaningless.

1972 summit series,'76,'81,'84,'87 Canada Cups had almost always the best players involved, though these tournaments had their flaws.

  • WCs still had the top European players. You know, the kinds that dominate the NHL today. Should I give points off for NHL success because there were fewer Europeans? I can.

  • The Canada Cups I mentioned had the best Europeans in them and playing against one another, plus the best NA players. I know little of the NHL today, the players on your list seem to be from the 60s,70s & 80s. You should credit performance of players higher from Canada Cups.

To say that Canada Cups and '72 summit series is meaningless is just ridiculous.

  • The Canada Cups were exhibitions held strictly on Canadian ice with by and large biased refferreing. They were meaningless and that includes the '81 tournament. I enjoyed both of the summit series, but they don't even qualify as tournaments. As for the WCs, it would have been nice to have seen the best Canadian players there, but they were good as they were with the top European ones.

  • I know he's known mosly for Soccer, but Lev Yashin should be on there, just because he's that cool

  • I've posted some Soviet hockey clips on my channel, including some Kharlamov footage. Great player, nice guy and had good looks to boot. Very popular amongst everyone, but not just because of how well he played - Kharlamov had a certain aura or presence about him. You just knew that he was a special person and being that way has little to do with just athletic ability. It's about heart and just downright goodness of the soul - he had this and he inspired the entire country.

  • Ovechkin >>> every other Russian

  • Did I say that Roberto's a bad player? No, I clearly didn't. Back to elementary school for you.

  • kharlamov bil VELIKI khokeist!Ego Obozhali!Tsarstvo nebesnoe!

  • Bobby Orr

  • I think Kharlamov was very good for a short period of time (early 70s), but his career was ravaged with injuries and then, finally, death.

  • Not for a short period of time - about 5-6 years he was incredible. After that he fell off a bit for reasons already mentioned. Meanwhile guys like Boris Mikhailov put up similarly great numbers, but for longer periods of time. Why isn't Mikhailov in the hall? In my opinion, it's the halo effect and Kharlamov's more flashy play in 1972.

  • lol go to slep usa boy

  • Anyone know where I can find this game? And I mean the full version, if possible.

  • Bobby played 3 yrs more after that ship went down,

  • You know the unique thing about this, Orr and Kharlamov never played against each other, so we can't who is better.

  • hier is my allstar team from 70s i have born 1984

    goalie vladislav tretjak cccp

defense valeri vasilijev urs-börje salming swe

    petrov-harlamov-mihailov

  • To compare any hockey team in history with those that the Soviets put on the ice from 1954 through 1992 is about as idiotic, as trying to compare a quarter horse with Seattle Slew or Secretariat. No offense to quarter horses of course. They are wonderful animals. But, they are simply over matched. Just like anyone who ever went up against the Soviet hockey dynasty. By the way, you totally misspelled the "F" word!!!

  • The only flaw out of that "dynasty" is that they only won just a small handful of overtime games that was just under one hand and lost more. The IIHF did a research on which country won when it mattered the most. And Canada came out on top with 70 percent of overtime wins and the rest of the hockey world only 30%. Any team can win it in regulation, sudden death is different.

  • Research!? You do realise that matters always a win not loss. Everyone remembered by win not loss, you achieve goals by win not loss. And you win by WIN not loss. Who gives a crap about research!? If you win then you win!

  • 1. Kharlamov.

    2. Kharlamov.

    3. Kharlamov.

  • Interesting list... I wonder why have you mentioned Lemieux and have forgotten Gretzky? I think he should be considered as one of the best 3 players of all time (anyone can sort them in the order they like).

    My most favorite were:

    1. Kharlamov

    2. Gretzky

    3. Tretiak.

Also, you've forgotten our "Professor" -- Igor Larionov

  • EXCELLENT CHOICES!

    Here are mine:

    1. TRETIAK

    2. KHARLAMOV

    3. MIKHAILOV

    4. FETISOV

    5. GRETZKY

    6. FEDEROV

    7. LARIONOV

  • You Forgot Orr.

  • bobby orr was the best. C'mon, don't be myopic....even if you're russian :(

  • Who is myopic? The whole NHL is nothing else than myopia, but what the heck. Bobby Orr was a great player anyhow. Way better than Wayne Gretzky at least.

  • He was one of the two best players ever. The best is Alexander Maltsev.

  • And Sergei Makarov. The 3 of them are the best ever. No question there. Question is, in what order

  • 1. Alexander Maltsev

    2. Valery Kharlamov

    3. Sergey Makarov

    хороший результат

  • 4. Tret'yak

    5. Fetisov

    6. Bobrov

    7. Mihailov

    8. Yakushev

    9. Ragulin

    10. Vasiliev

    ...

    30. Lemieux

    dunbunter, vi otkuda?

  • I would like to have Anatoly Firsov listed instead of Tretyak. Tretyak is number one of goaltenders. Another great player was Petrov and Kamensky.

    ja svetsky!

  • My apologies about omitting Firsov. However, Kamensky probably wasn't top 10, mainly due to the injuries he suffered. Petrov was the center on the greatest line of all time.

  • I also liked Sergey Kapustin. Maybe he wasn't as skilful with the puck as Kharlamov and Maltsev, but he was a competent player.

  • I'm a BIG Lidstrom and Sundin fan. Both are very underrated in today's hockey.

  • But the three best players from Sweden was: Sven "Tumba" Johansson, Ulf Sterner and Börje Salming. Sweden also had a very good goaltender, namely Leif "Honken" Holmqvist. He's an icon in Sweden.

  • You hockey knowledge is pretty amazing to say the least. Where would Peter Forsberg compare to "Honken" Holmqvist.

Unfortunately I wasn't old enough to see most of the players I listed (I'm 29 and lived in US for the past 17 years), but the first time I saw Makarov (around '84-'85) I "fell in love" with the man. Great player, great sportsmanship! He never missed on a breakaway.

  • I'm sorry that I might have forgotten Peter Forsberg, but I didn't compare "Honken" with the others. A goaltender is a goaltender.

  • many in russia consider him as the best player on earht that ever was. but he died in car incident

  • Kharlamov is a tank
