i've seen the most technical and talented guitarists, but there's a certain point where people should focus on the music instead of impressing everyone. I like Dream Theater but Textures is an over all better band when it comes to listenable music.

You can only say a certain band is better then another, when you have solid facts to compare.

I like to listen to textures instead of dream theater, but that doesn't mean they are by any means "better" they are better in my own opinion, so much is true, and also in yours. but if you make a bold statement by claiming one is better, You can only look at technicality, tbc....

This is true that im speaking from my personal opinion but i believe you don't have to go to MIT or juliard like dream theater to be a technically proficient band. i don't disagree with you that dream theater can do more with music but labrie has nothing on texture's vocalist and they aren't as heavy/easy to listen to as texture

it's so funny that you mentioned labrie's shortcomings, because I've always felt that the band of dream theater are all master of their instrument, and music, they know exactly what they're doing, and what they're capable of, while labrie just tags along imo, he doesn't really add anything inspiring to DT.

I'd say DT is easier to listen to btw, because only a select group on this world enjoy grunting and screaming vocals, while DT has normal vocals, wich WOULD be easier to listen to I guess?
