  • Do you have a link to this car charging kit?

I've been looking for a kit like that and having no luck.

  • @aspade01 I bought it from best buy Canada, its model Iconnects USB Car Charger Kit (USBCK1). Paid $30 for it.

  • It's in the Glove box!!

  • My first idea is: I am going to buy a USB hub today with a couple ports. Main USB plugs into your iconnects, one cable will go to iPhone, then I am just going to connect another USB and run it to the glove box. When car/hardwire is off the glovebox USB should take over...theatrically. But I have some ideas of how to modify the dash to look like stock to put in and take out your ipod/phone. This concept will work with the ipad also and is a much easier process than how others are doing it.

  • I have a couple ideas I would really like to run by you if you wouldn't mind. I am limited by characters so is there a way I could contact you via email? If you are skeptical just create a new email account, but I am curious for your input as you know and have done this more than I have. I am pretty good at these things but I only do it as a hobby. I have an 08 Mustang GT and I am looking to install it between the two vents in the middle of the dash, which will be cut out to sit flush.

  • Any suggestions on some type of duel ipod 30 pin connector? My idea is the power will be run for the ipod or ipad but then to have a second way to connect by using that second plug as a way to plug back into the device with my computer to update the ipod music without having to take the dash back apart (place a second connector just like your USB. Don't even know if it's possible or with OS5 now I think wifi might just work easier. Any helpful ideas wold be greatly appreciated.

  • @ba1dwin hmmmm this one im not sure, easiest way would be to keep the cable in your glove box to have easy access to your ipod device cause I cant think of a way to keep it hooked up to your radio but have a way to access it for updates. I will see if there is anything and let you know.

  • I am attempting to install an ipod touch dedicated into my dash and this resistor idea is great for the 5V 1amp output and the perfect way to hard wire it. Maybe you could save me a headache and even post a video of an ipad or ipod in dash player. Not worried about getting it out as I want a clean look. :)

  • @ba1dwin I will try to figure out a way to put in a ipod touch as I don't have an ipad. same idea to use a hardwired usb for power and use a ipod dock for the audio out for your radio. are you wanting to use your ipod touch/ipad as your "radio"?

  • what is the special fuse that you used called?

  • @123jballing add-a-circuit or piggy back fuse. you can also use a in-line depends on where you want to get your power source from.
