pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee tell me i did not imagine the song "run and hide" by the four evers?i heard it 1 time in 1991 in new jersey on, don k. reed's doo wop shop on wcbs fm and never heard it again duz any1 have this on mp3?
I am a heavy Doo-Wop fan, since this music came to my ears for the first time.
I am a collector, sing with a group (The "Mysterials") and have a radio magazine two times per week called "The Street Corner Memories Show", are friend with a lot of the groups, wich I met many times, on trips to the U.S.A. and so on..
BUT NOW: Congratulations to your unbevievable work in singing!
Do you think you can post "Talk to me"? I love how youve posted The 4evers. I grew up singing along with my father. I still love listening. ~CaraMia (Johnny's daughter)
be my girl was the only song i knew by this group till now there is a song called "Run and hide" sounds like the 4evers is that song by them also? thanks 4 posting this
But, if you read the liner notes from this CD, it has some pretty HARSH words for the 4 Seasons, suggestion that they were responsible for the 4 Evers NOT having more success.
After the FOUREVERS, you were in a group called "The Playhouse", what kind of music did you guys do at that point? Did it go in the direction of "A Lovely Way to Say Goodnight"?
Blisskasden, that was probably the best record the FOUREVERS ever made. We had a ball recording it at the studio. To me, that was the side they shouldve played instead of Be My Girl. Al Kasha wrote it but we made a lot of changes and came up with our own arrangement. The song kind of seperated us from the Seasons but, Bob Gaudio was the hottest writer at the time and they played anything that had his name on it. Again, thanks for being a fan of the FOUREVERS...Have a great New Year everyone
Its amazing Howie that you found our version of "YOU BELONG TO ME" The group actually rehearsed that song in a park. I woke up Nicky, Johnny and Steve at 2:00 in the morning. They cursed me for a week but they loved the arrangement...Again, thanks for being a true fan....Joe
Joey? This is CaraMia Johnny's daughter. You have no idea how happy I am to see you have posted this. Thank you so much, I know hes looking down on us and singing along.
Hi Veefan,,This is Joey. Lead singer of the 4Evers...I just wanna thank all of you for sharing great memories of the group. Should anyone wish to get in touch with me, just leave your Email address here and I'll get back to you. Thanks again fans....Joe
Joey, great to meet you . IF I Were a Magician is still my favorite song of all time. I grew up in the Bronx in the late 50s and early 60s, with John Cus of the Excellents. Thanks for your great songs. You guys were fantastic
Joe, same to you. I first heard "Magician" in the juke box at the bungalow colony my family went to in '64. I remember being blown away by the song, but had no idea who was singing it. My friend said, "It's the flip side of "Be My Girl". I must've pushed the wrong buttons." That was 44 1/2 years ago. I have heard thousands of great songs since then, and I will tell you that it is still my favorite song of all time. It is the perfect pop song, and would, IMO, have become a classic.
Your Dad was part of a great group, Brooklynkid. They deserved to enjoy more commercial success, but their songs are classics, and they they will always have my favorite song of all time (...Magician).
Joe, In the 60's I bought every song you guys released. I had every single and loved the flip sides as well. I really couldn'y get enough. Great lead voice with tremendous background vocals. When I was 18 I was in a regular record store in Plainfield NJ and casually asked for You Belong to Me by the 4 Evers, the clerk said you mean the Duprees. I said I wanted the real thing. He came back 10 minutes later with the right version. I almost flipped.
@slickdiesel33 Joey, I went to New Utecht HS & used to go over to 86th St. in late 50's after school & listen to Mystics/Passions in store fronts. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of hearing your group.Although I have all your records. As to sounding like the 4 Seasons, they were never that lucky. Drop your e-mail address asI'd like to hear from you. Brian (redsoxbwful)
