  • Imagine having this going in the background while playing Skyrim.

  • Vanilla and TBC where the best for me....but WOTLK also had a fantastic storyline and epic music!!!

  • Wonderfull...

  • I want to see northern lights while listening this music...

  • Comment removed

  • someone said that this music sounds sort of like aquatic ambulance, but I'm not hearing it...

  • as a wow ex wow player i didnt really recognise how good the music was untill now, thank you blizzard.

  • I love that you included video of the environment.

  • I sadly never got the chance to play vanilla or bc, but I remember the first time I went on my friends level 80. I didn't start a single quest I just wandered around the zones and the sheer detail and atmosphere of northrend made the boring grind to level 68 on my main bearable, sadly cata never seemed to have the same character as an expansion that I loved about wrath.

  • deamúgymeg kb azonos a zene azzal ahogy mész a játékba és a képeket úgy látod :D

  • i thought wow music was good in bc but when i first stepped onto that dock in daggercap bay, i straight away thought wow music is fucking out of this world!

  • WOTLk had the best lvling zones . They blew any other zone from bc and cataclysm away.. maybe it was just about the concept.. but i think that blizz came out with perfect zones in relation with the expantion.. i feel like cataclysm doesnt have that same connection , i feel like wotlk had mystery.. Cataclysm doesnt have that.. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @3Carnifex yeha with bc and wotlk they had so much story to work with and so much to do with the game between the 2 most admirable characters of the game arthas and illidan. but towards the end of lich king i think blizz started to get impatient and just threw whatever they that was half decent not giving arthas a more epic ending i was pissed when i got to beat him it was a lame ending 10 lvl 80s defeating him psssh and now in cata they dont have as much to work with and i thnk they starting to

  • @3Carnifex realize that they have hardly anything to work with now with illidan defeated and the lich king frozen again, cata is okay but what got me wanting to play wow was wotlk i sure wish there was a realm that still did wotlk instead of doing cata bs it sux i never got to experiance wotlk like every1 i started in cata =/ lame

  • @3Carnifex You pretty much nailed it. WotLK was the superior expansion to me, they took everything they learned from BC and made it better. The whole setting was an improvement, heavy wood and solid iron instead of rainbow crystals in space. It didn't start to really go downhill until the end of WotLK :(

  • @3Carnifex Vanilla had the best zones tbh...

  • @3Carnifex Cata wasn't supposed to be a mystery though, they made the music mysterious because it was uncharted new land! Cata just had old zones reworked, theres only so many plot points you can go with something like that.

  • @3Carnifex its alla bout taste , i lvoed wotlk for the north feeling , with vikings, and also the continuation from frozen throne warcraft 3 story , seeing old laces in 3D wow :) living the moments

  • @3Carnifex I liked your comment until you had to beg for thumbs ...

  • @12StonesRbest lol , i didn't beg for thumbs, i only asked to see how many ppl would agree with me. Who would beg for thumbs up anyway?!

  • @3Carnifex There are plenty of thumb-beggars on YT :p

  • 2:50 to 4:00 is best part

  • I Love This Song

  • Most beautiful song ever... it litterly reminds me of the long nights of farming the sea turtle mount, the song kept me going its just so peaceful... but i dont like part 1 the other version kinda ruins the tranquillity... but this version is just total euphoria :3

  • 2 people will burn in that burning place... I forgot what it was :(

  • Best zone in the game, sometimes i go back here and just wander around with music on and just chill. Nothing in cataclysm touches the wotlk. people hate on woltk but in retrospect this expansion completely killed cata

  • @Zanazuah Ikr.. I fucking miss WotLK man.. Stopped playing after 2 months of Cataclysm.. It's sad tbh..

  • @Michaelmop Remember the wonderful adventures in Howling fjord and the storm peaks etc? :(... The beautiful music and epic zones....the green grass and white snow....

  • @Michaelmop I haven't played Cata, I stopped about a year or so after WoTLK came out. This was such a great xpac, with rich lore, beautiful zones and a dream come true to a norse mythology nerd, as I've said many times before lol

  • escape from civilisation, escape from all bad things... this always reminds me the nature and mountains.... just listen to it

  • This is a good example of music you feel, there's just so much more going on here then just simply "listening to music"

  • Best zone in the game, sometimes i go back here and just wander around with music on and just chill. Nothing in cataclysm touches the wotlk. people hate on woltk but in retrospect this expansion completely killed cata.

  • i love this

  • wotlk they had something ...i came from the 60' days ...great game...loving rift

  • No zone in Cataclysm even came close to this.

  • Lich King and Anub'Arak disliked this.

  • It's a rule of mine to always start lvling in Holwing Fjord, not in Borean Tundra. I enjoy every minute being in Howling. The landscape, the music, the atmoshpere... undescribable... :)

  • sadly not as good as the F&F alpha music from this zone. which really blew me away. it echoed all around the fjords.

  • this reminds me of leveling my deathknight night elf... hopefully should be playing again soon so i can start a mage :)

  • I sleep to this song.

  • Hearing this makes me say, i miss the good old days! Not of WoW but from my life, during the 90's.

Then shitty new millennium came and my life as been a fucking shit until now!

  • This is the most beautifull music for a perfect night, in a country like Howling Fjord of Grizzly hills and than watching to the stars on your epic flying mount xD

  • This music paints a crystal clear image in my mind of levelling my Rogue on the launch night of Wrath. It is amazing how just hearing a second or two of the music reminds me of the exact location I was at and what quest I was doing.

So far, Cataclysm hasn't hit me in the same way that Wrath did.

  • @Paradigmshift2 Yeah. The Cata is good enough, but nothing compared to WotLK. Damn I miss the days levelling in Howling Fjord with my friends. The landscapes and dungeons were awesome. Making now an alt and going levelling there doesnt feel the same. :/

  • if blizz ever made an expansion where your char could build a house somewhere in wow mine would be in howling fjord hands down . best zone i have seen to date.

  • WOTLK begin was the best howling Fjord - grizzly hills were an epic adventure but when TOC came it went down...

Gear - Gearscore - Raiding raiding raiding - Story was boring blablabla...and I stopped playing wow at ICC... but still while I was still in game I tried to remember those first days of WOTLk by going to Grizzly hills and relax and it helped quite good ^^.

Ulduar was my favorite raid of WOTLK....

  • Great one! Thanks for uploading.

    Stonex

  • this, grizzly hills, and stormpeaks have the best music, atmosphere, and visual style.

  • the 2 people that disliked this can SUCK MY ASS!

  • @woopdedoopdedoo Im sure it's just two noobs who missed the 'like' button by mistake, dw :)

  • @woopdedoopdedoo ohh you#re soo outdated you have to say they felch your ass! xDD

  • I'm not a big WoW fan but having heard the music while my friend was playing it, i have to say its quite an impressive game! considering trying it out

  • I does not play wow, but i must say that almost all their music is awesome. I mean, not all games has an own orchestra

  • Music Is So Peaceful, Watching This Makes Me Want To Play Again. Cataclysm Music From What I Hear Will Be Better, + The Graphics Are Supposed To Be Jaw Dropping. Cant wait!

  • @AcidRainProduction the graphics are almost the same as before, slightly better, some updated shaders here and there and more polygon count on the new models light worgen&goblin! don't get high hopes! but the music is pure WIN!

  • Borean Tundra is my favorite place in Northrend... that and Dragonblight... WOTLK has brought the best music and the best zones to WoW in my opinion...

  • This brings back goooooooooooooooooooooooood memories :)

  • the music at the start of this video is absolutely beautiful......

i remember hearing this when i first entered this zone on my ground mount.....

thats how ive always entered this zone to this day

  • Love this one :)

  • This is the closest thing to God on earth I've ever felt.

  • i love this soundtrack one of the best in the game, i stopped playing wow but these soundtracks are very relaxing and remind me of great fun times while playing and being amazed by the beautiful scenery.

  • I have the original soundtrack of all World of Warcraft expansions but this piece isn't in Wrath of the Lich King CD, thanks for upload!

  • Every time I hear this it makes me want to play again :( So peaceful, but at the same time so epic. Reminds me of the good old leveling days once WoTLK came out

  • 3:13

    so epic

  • this music is ever so slightly haunting lol i love it

  • the music in WOW is one of the mian things that make it so good.

  • I can't help but completely agree, can't understand the people who play it with winamp/foobar/whatever in backround

  • OMG I can not belive I actialy read this. Its one of those things that ppl dont care abaut, like when you watch those pathetic youtube videos of Warcraft and first thing you hear is some disco beat in backgroud...I dont fucking get it.This is beautiful fantasy game and ppl just dont get it.Its abaut nature, animals and wizards and ppl simpley ignore it.If I would be creator of this game I would be really sad when watching what ppl are all abaut today when they play it.

  • I like flyin here just for the music and views. For the Horde!

  • boy am i lucky to just descovering zul durak, i moved from howling fjord, to dragon blight, to grizzly hills, and now onwards!

  • this song reminds me of when i first landed on the fjord with my mage at the beginning of wotlk. the way I viewed that zone now drastically differs from when i first arrived. wish i could go back to that feeling of a new and unexplored place.

  • i agree, nothing beats the way you first view a certain place in WoW, like when i found SW i thought i was the first one to discover it because i thought it was a hidden city or something when i took the tram from IF, turns out i was wrong but it felt awesome

  • amen brother,

This place was so... unexplainably mystical, it gives you this deep sense of nostalgia or something that made you feel as if you were really in northrend, this place still is the best zone ever though.

  • favorite zone hands down. still go there sometimes just to hang out and harass the ally base there. good times.

  • @gamestop5610 no doubt about it, best zone, followed by nagrand for me :) wow is just such an incredible atmosphere ...

  • nagrand is epic. i also liked netherstorm.

  • i want to make my ring tone 2:55-3:30 none of my friends play video games so they would all be like wtf is that haha would love it hahaaaaaa!!!

  • there's alot of you people who are saying that 3 minutes onward is nice and stuff. personally I think the very beginning to like 1:30 is the most beautiful, especially with the orchestration. it really depicts the sharp, lonely, but free feeling that you would feel in this area of the game.

  • yeah i think the same:)

  • especially lonely, but with hope.

  • yea

  • the part that starts at 2:55 always raises the hair on my neck, its so creepy good, such an ominous threat feeling i get from it, this is pure genious

  • @fragington best part in the entire song..

  • @3Carnifex Without a doubt :)

  • oh i love it

  • You know, i like alot of classic rock and metal, but fuck i love this music so much. Really makes me miss my past at times. Like find Grizzly Hills Day Music 3, that has to be my favorite out of the sound track

  • The Howling Fjord. God i hate not being able to play till winter break =(

  • No, Grizzly Hills is more like the Canadian part, Howling Fjord is definently the Scandinavian part, there are fricken Vikings running all over the place, not Celts -.-

  • lol, fricken giant vikings at that :D

  • The music is distinctly Celtic though, and the Celts were very closely related to the Vikings. The main instrument featured in most of the music in the fjords are the Uillieann pipes, or Irish bagpipes. Look them up, its a very beautiful instrument.

  • U can find many place in Europe tht look like the Howling fjord not just Norway scotland,or sweden, believe it or not i found a place tht looks like the Howling fjord in Romania! in romania there is an instrament tht sounds similar to the uillean pipes.

Romania and scandenavia have alot in commen maybe because the ancestors of the romanians were under gothic and celtic influence.

    also thx for uploading :P!!!!

  • lol a brief history lesson, thx man :D

  • I want to join the Blizzard orchestra, no joke.

  • lol anyone who appreciates BOTH orchestra and games must've want to join Blizzard Orchestra :D

  • Yea, im majoring in music right now and it's great. I LOVE the tuba! And I believe in myself that i will one day play for them. With all the things from Cataclysm, they must be puttin together new music.

  • You do have a chance (unlike me, lol xD)

Go forth, reach your dreams, i will pray for your success :D

  • @4Shl3Yd4WG right behind ya

  • @4Shl3Yd4WG its Czech philharmonic orchestra prague

  • best music in the game imho

  • Gah this music fits perfectly with the howling fjord. Its like magical and with the hylander aspect of the area it just creeps me out in a good way.

  • i love it. i can't go to the howling fjord yet, but my friend can, and she showed me the howling fjord with her chars. thank you!

  • Ah, I remember the Fjord...I leveled all my characters through it, mostly because of the music...and when I quit the game they all "retired" there...lol

    Thanks for the music :D

  • and another thing, the fire at 1:41, you feel cold...even though theres fire. its a different kind of flame.

  • dude....i remember staying up for the midnight release of wotlk, and soon as i stepped foot of the boat in HF this music made such a crazy joyful ambiance to questing out there especially the part from 1:30 - 2:40. only though it wasn't that long ago, its already become nostalgic.

  • Is this particular music on the WOW Wrath of the Lich King CD? It is just SO beautiful.

  • Most amazing soundtrack in the entire game, In fact the Fjord was the best area to me as well. the instrumentals make me think of falling snow at 3:00 onward, so peaceful.

  • 2:55 onward is pimp

  • love 1:12 - 1:35

Can you upload the waling caverns ambience/music please

  • i have a level 55 pally and a level 58 dk.

Where can i hear this music in the game?

    What level area is it?

  • it´s from level 69+

  • 68+

  • This would make Arthas' death scene perfect! But that's still to come...

  • nerd...gimme some thumbs downs!

  • best immersive song ever. that and wintergrasp

  • i hate how there isnt much reason to be around the area with this music at 80

  • brings a tear to my eye

  • lololol it is true sick beat

  • 2:50

    GangStaRr!!

  • I don't play WoW anymore but hot damn will I miss this music! WoW's music is some of the best

  • why don't you play wow anymore?

  • were the + cause u dont play or cause u like the tunes... i say + fopr both!@

  • I love this music!

  • my fav music in the game, grizzly hills is good too but this is really relaxing

  • This one reminded me of Oblivion... all to much...

  • The music is achingly lovely, haunting and ethereal. My highest character is only at 64 and I still come up there; braving the Vyrkul, just to hear it! Thank you so much for uploading this song.

  • Yes, Howling Fjord looks very Norweigan, Grizzly Hills has a Canada/Alaska vibe to it.

  • id say grizzly is the scandinavian part and howlin fjord can be scotish ;p

  • I have to downloead this music:D It is so great that i just wannah go upp to the mountain here in Norway and see over the view. In Howling Fjord it is like Norway, the forest and the mountains:)

  • The first section of this that plays is my favourite piece of music in the expansion so far <3

    The strings are just superb~

  • Mine too!

I was sitting in Valgarde for an hour <3.

It's beautiful the way it kind of rises and vanishes into an echo. :D

  • Noob zone? no, it's one of the 68-72 zone...

  • no, not a 'noob' zone. it's the expansionpack starter zone... one of two. ^^

  • this music kinda has a final fantasy vibe. very nice.

  • I was leveling an alt in Tanaris and I went into one of the houses in Lost Rigger Cove and into a back room and this music started playing.

I loved it because the Howling Fjord is my favorite place because this music is just so relaxing.

  • 2.55 makes me happy

  • This soundtrack is just awesome, Howling is too wonderful to be just a place where you level

  • Did you guys know that this region is inspired by the Norwegian/Scandinavian style? Vikings - Kinda' obvious, really. But did you know that the word Fjord has it's origin from Norwegian? Same goes with Slalom and Troll. And the instrument you hear in one of the songs here is not a violin, but a ''Hardingsfele'' - again, a Norwegian instrument. Blizzard has done their research quite well. You should check it up, quite fascinating.

  • alot of the lore comes from the viking mythology and alot of other ancient cultures.

  • Oh Yeah, Blizz totally themed the zone after Norway, what with the Fjords and Pine forests.. Thus making this a favorite zone of mine ;)

  • is a Hardingsfele the same thing as a hurdy gurdy / wheel fiddle?

  • This is what i love about Wrath of the Lich King. The Nordic (Mythology) Theme.

  • it goes perfect with the Aurora Borealis they have up there

  • This Music Plays when its night time yes?

  • has a lovely irish/scottish scent off it :D

as an man born in Scottland and living in Ireland.....it just makes me feel at home :D ty Blizz for getting this one right :D

  • Howling Fjord and northrend in general=Great concepts, design and execution. Blizz finally realized how boring quests were, the new ones are great. The areas are also very different in northrend, in azeroth some areas look too similar to each other, in part because they use the same music.

  • Apart from the cinematics and the wonderful music Howling Fjord is also a much more peaceful place to start off because it is less crowded and you are less likely to be ganked than in Borean Tundra.

  • Beautiful graphics and a great song. It's truely wonderful that gamers from nordic decent can relate to this. Unlike fantasy BC and azeroth, where it's purely fantasy style. Nicely done blizz!

  • Not just Scandinavians, but Scots and Irish too because of the pipe music.

  • Thanks for noticing irish :) im irish.

  • My copy can't come fast enough...

  • wow!!

  • This is definitely one of the best musical tracks I've heard for a game. Some of the flute sections are reminiscent of the film Aliens. There is a lot of soul in this music, its one of the reasons why I'll be coming back to WoW for Wrath of the Lich King.

  • does anyone else get the feeling that Howling Fjord music has a sense of loneliness? I've been playing beta and HF definitely has this somber, lonely feeling. I think it goes well with the theme of Northrend as this damned land which the Lich King (and Arthas following) blighted and corrupted. I love it, even though my heart sinks a bit.

Not to say I've got no spine but this music does hit something with me.

  • You are in a cold, frozen, rocky fjord. Minions of Lich King are watching you. You do not know what awaits you at the next corner. Countless evils of Northrend await you. You are alone, cold and lost. And this music perfectly accents it.

  • hehe EVIL things all over and the lich king is watching you, so true so true. ^^ And you're not truely alone...you have murlocs and kalu'ak to cuddle with. :D yet you also have evil vikings, undead and crazy humanoids and countless evil creatures that want to tear you limb from limb. :P

  • You nailed it on the head; while listening to this, I actually had an overwhelming sense of loneliness pervade my being.

Sorry to sound mushy and gushy, but that's just how powerful this music is.

  • HAHAHAHA!

    You're kidding, right?

Jeremy Soule is the most over-rated Composer for Videogames. His music is light, fluffy, and perfectly Soul-less.

  • cant wait to play these songs and music look amazing. finally bringing the game back to life after BC killed it.

  • wow that track is amazing! I love it they now have the budget to do live orchestration, makes all the difference from synthesized stuff..

  • Great music

1:55 reminds me of the Burning Steppes, without the burning trees

  • lol

  • NIIIICE thx alot!!!:D can u try to get Borean Tundra up?:)
