its important for anyone withdrawing to know about complications of the brain. the brain does not like withdrawl because of a b1 deficiency associated with alcoholism.
anyone going through withdrawl should ABSOLUTELY be taking a b1 supplement.
Very inspirational - I too did it myself and now 2 1/2 years sober - I feel guilty not attending AA meetings - it is suppose to be essential, but I seem to get by just fine...good to see I am not the only one with a personal alcohol success story - thanks for making and posting the video.
I quit drinking as of yesterday, I drank for three days straight and now I'm going through terrible withdrawals. I cannot sleep and when I do I have vivid and terrifying dreams. I am scared how long this is going to last, I have court tomorrow and have not slept all night. Please tell me how long you went through withdrawals? I don't know how much longer I can keep it up, please give me suggestions, anyone? I am so scared I just wanna lay down and cry. Sorry for the rant, thanks for sharing.
@HVChemical hi. i'm going through all that right now. hope you have hung in. I know that I am done with it. I have too much to lose and so much to gain.
Dude, ease the pain. Embrace your homosexuality and start living your life. I live waaaaaay the hell over here and can clearly see your problem is not alcohol. It's not a problem at all.
I think it's great that you are sober and were able to do it on your own,I hope you are able to stay that way on your own.most people can't.Most need some sort of help.I tried to stop periodically for 25yrs-and was never able to stay stopped-until I realized I couldn't do it by myself.I've been involved in a 12 step program and totally sober for 4&1/2 yrs-it's the only way I've had any sucess....best of luck to you!
Do you have a doctor or health insurance? That was one of my concerns when I stopped but everything can be fixed. Take it 1 day at a time and you will beat it. I am happy to hear you are staying sober. If there is ever a time you feel weak, you can call me any time of day. I always have my phone by the bed.
Yeah.. I have ins and a doctor.. He's been telling me to quit or die for a little while now.. It's about 4:45 am, I slept for around 4-5 hours and am up.. The internet is good for insomnia, but I feel really good actually.. The brain fog (my only symptom) is clearing up nicely.. I have to call the doctor in the morning to give him an update.. Maybe I've been spared the nasty withdrawal.. I'll take it as a blessing and wont drink again. I'll keep ya up to date!
@myownAA Awesome. Very similar to my story (even the vacation pics oddly similar). I fell into 'alcoholism' virtually pout of nowhere 4 years ago. Stopped completely after 8 months heavy drinking ended up in hospital had no clue what could happen with alcohol withdrawal. I USED to work out 5x a week. My question: How important was your exercise/getting in shape to you personally in getting off alcohol? Do you think there is a strong relation or just coincidence? I suspect the former. Thanks!
I'm 34.. same story.... In my 29th hour as I'm writing this without alcohol. I am getting hot flashes.. No shakes as of yet.. I am on blood pressure medicine and the doctor perscribed Librium if I get any shakes or symptoms of that order. I am worried about a seizure.. But its in God's hands. Great video.. Needed to see that.
My husband is on librium, and he finds it to be ok, Keep talking to your Dr. Keep posting and talk w/ whomever you need to. My husband is now shutting me out... I feel as if either he is "embarrassed" now that the reality has kicked in, or he has the temptation when I try to talk about it...
First weekend that I can remember being without alcohol.. Withdrawal symptoms are pretty non-existant.. Just a general head cloud.. No anxiety.. No shakes.. Nothing.. Still concerned about a seizure, but the doctor told me not to take the librium unless I had symptoms, such as shaking or confusion... I don't see how its possible to escape the symptoms, I don't even have any cravings.. I'm eating good.. Sleep isn't great, but its not terrible either..
Thank you so much for posting this my friend.. I'm on my way to detox next week in a bid to remove alcohol from my life forever. Seeing your story here has given me inspiration.. Congrats
I would love to meet you! Actually, I would love my husband to meet you... He is suffering from alcohol w/drawl and has had a grand mal seizure one week ago today... I am trying to help him, this is my whole reasoning for joining youtube... Congrats! I hope my husband has a wonderful outcome such as your own!
Dear Chris... As I sit again, watching your video, my husband went back into the hospital... He relapsed and felt as if he was going to have ANOTHER grand mal. You remind me of him very much. He is 35, loves to golf, but cant stop drinking. He has had 2 grand mal's everytime he tries to stop. He is detoxing right now. I am desperate, and so is he... He said he doesn't know how to live w/out drinking. I just posted your video on my facebook... Search me under Sara Vandenberg Boc... Thank you...
@SavingRick wow! thankfully i have not had that terrible experience. the only think i can put it down to is that i drink as much water the next day as i drank booze the night before. who knows maybe just lucky but I have quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey... i just wanted to give some support on this... my father just past away due to chronic alcoholism at the age of 49, and suffered from seizures for about 10 years as he tried to remain sober, but it was too much for him. I hope that you continue to maintain your sobriety to live a full and happy life.

I'm thankful that you are alive. (reverence)
We are all so proud of you, not only for the accomplishment of handling this the way you have, but for your candor in sharing this vulnerability. And, my friend, you are WAY hotter sober!
