  • I agree about the ending. You may already know this, but the gripping of his right elbow with his left hand was in tribute to Harry Carrey Sr, whose wife was playing the part of the matriarch. Only Wayne and Ford knew he was going to do this,...and when Wayne gripped the right elbow, she burst into tears at the gesture. It was the mannerism of HC Sr, the trademark of one of the great silent movie cowboy actors. Not going into the house, apparently, was because he felt "unclean".

  • @christiansoldier1968

yes!. I've heard on a BBC documentary about silent movies. Hollywood i think it's call, in the eighties.

    Thanks for comment.

    saludos

  • @christiansoldier1968 HC Senior's, son HC Jr., was killed in the movie when he snapped. John Wayne found his sister's dress. A No Yaka Comanche was wearing it. During the early 1950s, as a small boy, I saw a few HC Sr. movies. He was almost always was shot in the upper right arm while riding his horse -- chasing a bad guy. He referred to his rifle as Betsy, "with a hair trigger".

  • One of the greatest endings of any movie. I never did get why Ethan didnt go inside with the rest of them. I guess he never felt like part of the family.
