I AM SO FREAKIN' SICK OF HEARING ABOUT THIS NOW!!!!! Yes, I feal terrible for the loss of life and for the families, but enough already!!! Time to move on!!!
You know terrorists could have destroyed the bridge with Scalar Weapons. The Al Quada has them and can destroy bridges and buildings leaving no clues. Just Google: Scalar Weapons
O yeah, and da Civil War was Bush's fault too, he controls everyhing that happenz in the wurld and iz so bad that even stuff from before he waz born is hiz fault.
Jeez...I drive- 'scuse me...drove...across this thing almost every day, never suspecting that it would collapse. My friend's dad drove on that 5 days a week to get home from work...he's usually on that bridge at around 6 to 6:20 every day...except Wednesdays.
I hate Bush and Cheney as much as the next guy, probably even more, but this is a time not to point fingers and bicker...this is a time to come together and help those affected.
Hi everyone,I'm from Australia & have just seen this footage & read ppls comments.I can't believe that in this day & age that ppl would post whinging & incredibly inane drivel & crap (the Iraq war, cutting off bodyparts, Bush conspiracies, etc) WTF!! Grow up & start being humans again, the world does not revolve around u.If such an event or equivalent happened in Oz (& it has) such comments would be given pretty short shrift.RIP victims
hay I was in that bridge collapse. we stoped and I watched my friends car disaper, it just fell away. I'm ok but my friend is in ICU. they should have inspected the steel. It was not the concert. the steel broke.
The "Greatest Generation Ever" built us a great country with great infrastructure. Now their children and grandchildren, WE are the CHEAPEST GENERATION are letting everything they built FALL-A-PART!
We waste our National Treasure on foreign folly and shipped the rest to nations that hate us for cheap gadgets and the energy to run them.
I'll be honest w/ you. I literally used to cross that bridge, cause my buddies would drive me home from that bridge! I remember it had some road construction on it. Something must've not of been complete, or something must've been not held together good enough. The construction should've definantly been secured and test properly!
Billions for a war based on lies but no money to maintain the safety of bridges. Keep contacting your elected members of congress and tell them you want cheney and bush impeached.
The news here said the bridge was checked 6 years ago and they found metal fatigue cracks but determined there was no immediate risk so repairs was not needed immediately. That is SIX years ago. Why not weld it right away? No, people have to die first.
Funny, I still find it difficult to draw a nexus between white house politics, war and what happened to the folks on that bridge. I am not from Minnesota, nor do I know anyone directly effected by this tragedy, but as an American and more importantly a human being I am more focused on the humanitarian aspects of this story. I am amazed at how many people on youtube use this forum to push political agenda's, conspiracy theories and just complete BS...
I am from Mpls and I understand why people do that. It is because they are so far removed from decency and reality. They are too naive to understand the impact of such things. The "war" to them, is probably just like a movie, something they watch, not real. Until something serious and disasterous happens to them, they will not understand. Nobody understands this war anyway, so everything they say just sounds very naive.
Friday Morning: complete asshole misses point that people have died, are severly injured and families are missing loved ones and yet wants to make some type of reference that the white house dodged another bullet??? You need to get a fucking clue juleofdenial.
would you like to know something really scary...I was there when it happed! but i was not on it. i was out to eat with my mom and aunt and 2 sis. all my preys go out to those who lost a love one and people who and in the ER. i love mn
Sad...you are all making this into a joke...this is far from amusing nor should your first thought be the president. I live here and MY fiance was 2 minutes from being dead. Please dont turn this into a political debate for your own amusement, what about all the people who lost their loved ones?? They dont find terror amusing.. they arent blaming the war for taking funds.... STOP!
As George Bush said: My job is to protect the American people. If he took the money he spent for the useless Iraq war and gave it to every single state in the union, every state would receive 10 billion to repair our lousy infrastructure, help Katrina victims and fund education. That's protection of the American people. Wake up Bush!
i cant believe the word terror is even associated with this horrible event. just goes to show you the level of fear that we're all living in right now. it's almost ammusing
Since this tragedy has made "armchair engineers" out of many of us, I offer my theory:
Several years ago, this bridge was outfitted with an experimental anti-icing system. There were thousands of spray nozzles planted in the bridge deck that emitted a chemical solution to prevent ice from forming on the bridge. It worked well, but I believe it weakened the concrete or accelerated corrosion of the steel. Just a thought.
Politicians complain that there's not enough money to fund bridge (etc.) rebuildint. I say that's because more and more federal funds go to social programs leaving less and less for infrastructure - just one of my many thoughts today. Thanks for the vid.
You bloodline must end for the sake of mankind. Again, YOU ARE NOT SMART, you have not ability to come to logical conclusions. Atomgott, so what are you doing to help the human race? I admit things are getting worse in my country, because we have not bound the government down by the chains of our Constitution, but we are each part of the problem or part of the solution. Sorry, I haven't found any of your contributions for the latter position.
oh my god. what an asshole. no one deserves to die expecially for something thats not their fault. i live here too and my mom almost took that way and would have been in the collapse and i thank god shes here safe. so fuck you atomgott.
I'm soo glad we diden't cross that bridge... i'm in ohio though... but i feel very shocked and saddened about this stuff bridge... its still breaking news on cnn... Victims of this collapse i hope you are ok, we pray for you...
man iam lucky i drove 10 minutes earlier. By the time i get to my house and turn on the Tv i saw Bridge collapse my godness i though i was dreaming or something my Allah help those missing ppl n those who are in the hospital
Its hard to continue to feel sorry for people, we knew that these things would happen if we were in a war, the war must be funded somehow,The politicians need raises too, the presidential canidates must be on tv somehow to let you know to vote for them raising millions of dollars just to talk to you for an hour while their are still victims from other incidents of destruction. in the words of S. Wonder, Shame on us.
Sorry, I was kinda mad because someone posted an ad on here and I kinda got mad because I really feel sorry for what happened to these people and I think it's ruid to post something like that here.
THAT I completely agree with. But even more importantly, I appreciate your "sorry." It's not for me, but rather for all of us to be a wake up call. We've had plenty of those now since 9-11 and I hope we heed Ron Paul's call to return us to the Constitutional glory our country was once admired for. I'm praying hard. Thanks.
I'm sad for the families of the victims and the victims of this tragic example of our sqeak by mentality in this country. Instead of the people holding the appropriate officials asses to the fire it will eventually drift away with time until the next tradgedy. God have mercy on this country !
My heart does not go out to the 'vic's'. As with the 911 stuff, you people just do not get it. Recently, the
North Carolina Legislature took $174 Mil out of the Highway/Trans fund and put in in the General fund. They then proceeded to piss it away on pork. DUH
You are a dink! The people that died yesterday on that bridge were NOT politicians, were NOT responsible for the war in Iraq, and were NOT responsible for checking bridges. They were regular people like everyone else. Get a f'in life. Maybe I should to for taking the time to respond to such an idiot.
dahmk, you're short sighted. These problems are happening because of stinking thinking. THINK "General Fund." That should tell you something, i.e., "Social Insecurity" program. (I gave mine up for my kids and grandkids and I'm now "eligible." I will not.) Please, for the sake of our country, listen to Ron Paul on "YouTube." He's our country's last hope & is the ONLY one wanting to take us back to the Constitution which made us great. Use it or lose it -- entirely.
Send in FEMA at your own peril! They don't know sh@$. Look at their major screw up in NOLA and the Gulf region after the hurricane. NTSB? Whatever...bunch of MORONS! Let the locals take care of it and the Feds toss their money in and leave, that is the ONLY thing they have that is of any help. Money...
maybe if we spent our money on upkeep of vital infrastructure (bridges, roads, etc.) instead of a frivolous and un-needed new Twins baseball stadium, this shit wouldn't happen...
The bridge was inspected in both '05 and '06, and collapses in '07?...heads are gonna roll for this, as well they should, this is a prime function of government to ensure this shit doesn't happen.
Yes, it is. Sadly, it's not just the infrastructure. When a comic can laugh about our Constitution being unused and should be sent to Iraq (J. Leno), we should be looking to the only man who has vowed to take us back to our Constitution -- Ron Paul. No one else will do it and his record in the House and Senate speaks volumes. Forget party lines, this is America's wake up call.
sorry for the people of minneapolis. i was there a few years ago and the place is beautiful and people are really nice. it's sad to see such a tragedy to happen.
RIP to those lost on the 35W Bridge in Minneapolis. Wednesday, August 1, 2007. I travel that route to work at least 3 times a week. My heart goes out to all the families of the victims lost, and to all the families of those yet to be found.
I fell bad for the 13 people who died. I saw the collapse.

RIP to those lost on the 35W Bridge in Minneapolis. Wednesday, August 1, 2007. I travel that route to work at least 3 times a week. My heart goes out to all the families of the victims lost, and to all the families of those yet to be found.
