iv made one of these before watching tthis vid but it realy does work and its well worth the little bit of money it cost to make one especialy if you fish alot. nothin catches them big cat daddys better than live bait!!!
if i use it in saltwater how can i prevent it from falling a part ? is cleaning it with fresh water after i finish using it will help? and if you have other way can you please tell me and please answer. thanks and does this trap catch small snappers and groupers.
Yes, rinsing the trap is a good idea. It will definitely slow the deterioration of your trap. Either way you go, using the trap in salt water will definitely shorten its life. Another option is using PVC coated mesh so that no metal comes into contact with salt water.
Should catch any species you want as long as the bait is right. Ive actually had people catch eel in them up north. However, Ive never known of anyone purchasing for snapper before
@goody2shoes - yea these are great traps. i have to use the 19ga wire b/c its easier to bend and work with. Anthing larger and you need a wire bender.
I made the exact trap earlier this year after finding the directions online. Everything was the same except my release door was on the bottom. I also used the 19 gauge wire as well. I attached my trap to my dock in a small freshwater lake and always kept it in the water. I was very impressed by this trap after using it the first few months. After about four months the wires started to separate and finally decompose. I looked everywhere for some better gauge wire to make another with no luck
do you make or you buy it ?
