  • Poor sculpture. It got outshined by the band.

  • SHUT THAT GODDAMN DOG UP

  • They should change it and make it play Soundgarden songs.

  • For all of those wondering, the artist's name is Doug Hollis, and this is in Magnuson Park, Seatlle, Washington.

  • Somebody feed that fucking dog an antifreeze sandwich. I'm glad this was made, though.

  • I think the dog (and the crows) adds to it. I mean, it's a sound garden right? Not just a windpipe garden.

  • jajajaja Shout that God Damn Dog xDDDDD

when I was there they used to close off the soundgarden so you had to watch from afar...

notice the dark clouds in the sky!

  • that was cool ! is that 4 real ? 7 whear is it ???

  • that same place the band came from

  • were are they for ?

  • Pilgrimage? that sounds like a good idea..

  • Cool. I think all Soundgarden fans should grow their hair up to at least his/her shoulders and perform a pilgrimage by visiting this spot, then run around the sculpture 70 times while chanting the lyrics to "Big Dumb Sex". Then post it on youtube

  • see i would do that...

but last time i went there it was all blocked off so you would have to go through this dog place to even see it.

but actually running around there singing big dumb sex would be that much better

  • Yeah, Hell yeah!!!

  • Amen.

  • Smashing!

  • Shut that goddamn dog up? HAHAHA, so randomly funny.

  • Not so random when you consider that little yappy mut kept barking the entire time I was trying to get clear audio! Oh well, oh nature!!

  • Well in that case I understand.

  • Anyway, thank you so much. As a fan of the band, i was always curious about the artwork they got their name from.

  • go at night and you won't get the dogs....or the crows. magnuson park's a dog park, so they're always around in the daytime.

  • @pacificvibe

There's a dog park at the sound garden

  • cool , always was curiosu what this sounded like, i knew the band got the inspiration for their name from this...

..reading this text before mine, i may have to 'peep it out'...¿?

  • goes PERFECTLY with 'Soundgarden's' music, kim thayil's guitar sounds and all

  • Agreed! Very psychedelic, very inspiring.

  • The sound is creepy as fuck =/ But pretty fucking cool!!

  • Oh I'm feelin'...yeah, I'm feelin' outshined, outshined, outshined....mmmmmmm...oh yeahh...

  • eerie sounds.... beautiful in a way

Reminds me of those Orca whales, their dissonant moaning.

    Awesome sound

  • Fuck, thank you for doing this. I lived in seattle from about 1997 to 2001 and spent hours at this place. I went back in 2004 to see it but they had secured the place us due to 911. I miss that sound possibly more than anything else in seattle...

  • Wow!

The sound is amazing, the dog mmmmmmmmmmm %$·"&/

I used to live in Seattle and i cant find the entrance to the Sound Garden.

Someone can explain me how to get in please???

  • 1982-1983? I read that wrong, right?

  • "Shut that god damn dog up." LOL

  • I like the band better, lolz.

  • The soundgarden is freakin' incredible. You have to go through quite a bit before you can see it but it's really worth it to just stand in the middle and soak it all in.

  • How did you get so close to it? I tried to go there, but it was all fenced off. Aah, beautiful lake washington. :)

  • Thanks for the post. I was there in 2000, long before any "security" issues.

  • Cool, it sounds like guitar feedback!

  • NOAA is on the north west side of lake washington....it's actually a part of an old naval base called Sandpoint.

  • xoxoxo

  • ooooooo!!! I am glad I stumbled upon this! way cool. and really interesting that soundgarden took their name from here. thx :)

  • So this is the place that the band SoundGarden took its name from.

First time I see it. I'm listening to the band since 1994.

    Sweet.

  • I've heard of this place. It's off limits due to national security reasons. Also, the famous Seattle grunge band took their name from this place.

  • I was lucky, then, to get in before they "shut it down". The tubes do resemble those used in nuclear centrifuges ;)

  • Where is this?

  • This is outside Seattle on the property of a NOAA facility. I forget the exact location, not being a native of the region.

  • @sooperhandz in seattle, from I-5 take the 65th street exit and follow 65th street east (it turns, just keep going) until you get to Warren G. Magnessun park

  • @satweavers, check out the wiki article. More specifically, it is here: 47° 41′ 7.91″ N, 122° 14′ 59.88″ W A_Sound_Garden
