First of all, change is gradual. It doesn't happen immediately. A specific timeline is impossible, it varies from an immune system to another.

Most likely, there was fighting. That explains the presence of weapons to begin with.

Even if they had weapons to fight the rest of the zombies back, there'd always be bites, and unless everybody was brave enough to shoot themselves, there'd always be zombies.

Also, contrary to common belief, getting bitten is NOT the only way of infection.

As far as suffering goes... she's NOT a B.O.W., so she can feel physical pain. However, her intelligence level is primal, so I doubt she'd be deliberately looking for S.T.A.R.S.

Another point is, S.T.A.R.S is a Task Force similar to "SWAT" in Raccoon City, they are NOT involved with Umbrella, nor are they involved in any testing whatsoever. Lisa would have no means to know S.T.A.R.S.

And as for the face-ripping, that'd be correct.

This part of Resident Evil is a remake of a chapter that has been already closed down. Lisa doesn't appear in the original first Resident Evil during the incident at Arklay Mountains. She was added as a boss for this remake, and this alone.

As far as series goes, the only game she reappears in is Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, where you see Wesker defeating her.

As far as story goes, she does not die when she falls, but she dies later when the Mansion explodes.

Lisa's mother Jessica was tested too, but I guess she died when she was given the Progenitor virus.
