It's not even arguable. They're both at fault, and it's pretty clear that one is worse than the other just based on what they said. There should have been equal compassion and outrage for the unsportsmanlike conduct directed at the empire. He was truly humiliated by the outburst. Andy Roddick doesn't have the balls to pull something like this. Say what you want pal, but McEnroe filled the stadiums all by himself. He was the most talented player to ever pick up a racket. He had to play the likes of Lendl, Borg, Conners, Becker, Sampras, etc, etc to be great. This Federer guy hasn't had to play anyone yet. If McEnroe were at his prime now, he'd never lose a match, period. Roddick wouldn't even be # 20 if he played when McEnroe played.

1) Not all tenniscourts have 'eagle eye' systems.
2) Those systems are far from perfect.
So I'm sorry, but there's enough to argue about. Code violations are simply given much quicker now than in the past, and they come with much higer fines. Also, good players are more all-round at being professionals both in play and in behaviour nowadays.

Euh? Did you not read what I wrote? hdtv00 says there's nothing to argue about, because of a system. But if a system makes mistakes, and if that system isn't even present everywhere on the tour, than that's not an argument, is it?
If it were perfect, and if every court had it, then yes, arguing would be pointless. That's not the case, so there must be another reason why tennis players now don't get so excited as they did in the past.

This was at the time the Code of Conduct was just being applied for the first times, and very mildly. McEnore was one of the first players to get a default when the Code began to be applied just like it is applied nowadays.
