I had a similar car thing like that back in the day. Got bored of it very quickly so decided to pull it to bits and replace the built in plastic thing with my own ones drawn on FAX paper rolls. made it much more run ;P
I remember playing with similar toys as a kid. I remember having a similar product that had similar mechanics, and one time, I dissected it to see what was inside, and it was nothing more than a round piece of mylar with a race track hence the "looping" nature of the program.
I know I saw some version of this in the store as a kid and my neighbor hard it...My memory of it isn't very good/accurate but I could have swore the loop was longer.
Holy crap, I had some version of this toy. As a 3 yr old (probably around there) it was awesome. I also remember having a VHS tape with a prerecorded race on it, where you would be the "driver." Heck, I was young. Fun was had! Or so I thought.
Oh shit. This video reminded me that I had one of those too, a different model though where you could flip open the lights on the front, the screen was above the steering wheel and there was no dashboard like on this one. Also the looped scenery was different, actually slightly better as it had more cars and no weird geometric grid as grass.
Wish my parents never bought me this toy and spent the money on better thingsStare into the subliminal for as long as you can.
@turboash78 yea, if you're on of those people that think saying things with fake à or è at the end makes you fancy, then its correct, but it's not :3 bugger off ^_^
Dude, you're obviously thinking about this from the perspective of an unimaginative adult. This thing was my favorite toy when I was about 4-6 years old. It doesn't NEED to have meaningful interaction - a child's imagination works the rest out. Oh the games and stories my mind would create as I streamed past that parked car over and over again. Trip meter running, gasoline gauges, MPH meter, tachometer. This was a little boy's dream come true.
Seems like the kind of thing that'd be pretty impressive if it'd been released in 1972 or so when all the mechanical toys were popular. By the mid-80s when actual electronic video games were popular it was a bit dated.
I had one of them as a kid! It was exactly the same but it was a Batmobile from the Tim Burton Batman instead of a Porsche. I pulled it apart as a kid, Grandad who bought it me was displeased :X
I had one of these things when I was about 3 years old. It was my favorite thing to play with when I didn't have access to the TV our NES and Genesis were hooked up to. I don't think it could've cost much at the time here in America since my family has always seemed to have been a just few dollars away from being broke.
Oh man, I remember having one of these when I was like, 6 or so. The background was colored like a raceway with a formula one car though, rather than the videogame style in this one.
Well this friggin blows. I was really hoping he'd finally show the green screen kit I sent him two years ago in the failed review section. Shipping that from Western Canada wasn't cheap y'know!
@thepokekid01 I gotta tell you though, I don't remember mine ever being that crappy/getting stuck so much, I only remember the batteries dying all the time. But regardless for me it was a fun toy, about as good as most Tomy toys that targeted toddlers at the time. (And really isn't comparable to a video game, but more like a Fisher Price toy, like a fake Kitchen toy "simulator" and such).
@AshensExtra You have now have Extra videos? Why's the Extra capitalized? Is it because they're extra-er than normal extra? What happened to the comma in your second sentence? And why would Stuart advertise an extra channel in a video's comment section when he could just announce it?
(Still, channel seems incredibly legit. If this is a hoax, it's a good one. If it isn't, please stab me in the face with a potato.)
My mum actually owns a BlueChip mobile. The only reason she has it is because she has very poor eyesight and the buttons on it are rather large. It's a shame the screen isn't as clear as one would hope
This review was so bad. What do you expect? Dirt 3? It was a great toy for kids at that time, don't judge it as an adult. Also when it works it works. It's not the games fault if you review a broken one.
I think yours may had a hole or something in it that looked like another car on the road. other reviews of this thing didn't seem to have that other car to pass. not 100% sure about that though
It was one of my FAVORITE toys when I was a kid. Funny thing is I'd never turn it on and play with the game, I'd just have fun playing pretend with the moving gears and pieces. I'd just take the thing and plop it on the sofa armrest and pretend the whole sofa was a car. Passengers rode behind me. It was pretty sweet, and at the time I felt like such a boss.
The VX1 has been my current phone for the past year. It's smothered in scratches, and it's fallen apart more times than I care to mention. Still, unlike its predecessor (a phone costing around £40) it's definitely value for money (£10) and it's survived my careless drunken hedge-diving.

Silly Ashen. Everyone knows that the best way to let a kid experience driving is to let him drive a car.

Preferably when you're not anywhere within a 100 miles of the event.
