The colonists were taxed (one seventeenth the tax of the average british subject) to pay for the huge army that was protecting their frontier and for the navy protecting their trade. The revolution was caused by GREED from the american traders who didn't want to pay more duty. That's all, everything else is just an attempt to give justification for the treasonous act against their own country. The same as Lincoln used slavery to justify the civil war. Ok?
The point of no return was April 19, 1775, the day they shot back and killed govt. employees all the way back to Boston. A process that will have to be repeated and is already way past due.
