  • i used to see this show as a kid, in the 80s in Chile, i always remembered this great music. i`m happy i found it here.......Thank you

  • Brings back memories of me and the whole family watching this every thursday night at 7:30 with a bowl of Jiffy Pop.

One of the few shows the whole family could agree on.

I miss those good old days.

  • This soundtrack takes us back to a great time, when computers, cell phones or IPads did no exist and you used your imagination on a constant basis. Shows such as this one and Wild Kingdom thaught my generation to protect our environment.

  • Totally dig this music. Oddly enough, Spock and a space hippie chick did a jam with similar sound on an episode of Star Trek ("Return to Eden" I think it was called). Anyway, thanks for posting!

  • this is the coolest theme!! as a kid in the 70's I remember grooving to this after the show..I want to download the entire score. It sounds like a 007 / mod theme. You tube is amazing..you can find anything on here! Thanks for posting this!

  • I love the creepy music. One of those metal bands ought to redo it. \m/

  • ...this reminds me of my dad. He made us sit down and watch this show. It was sort of an at home educational piece, before the internet, cable etc. It was fun. I miss "Pops". This music reminds me of him.

  • Thank you very much! I loved this show and the theme music that went with it.

I was wondering, was there one more intro/theme music that went with this show?

Thank you again! Great memories. I wish I could order the whole series!

    Big thumbs up!

  • I remember this song would come on at the end and PBS would start talking over it to promo the upcoming show. Used to irk the hell outta me. Thanks for posting this.

  • This just kicks ass. I have never forgotten it. Thanks, love2register

  • sounds like a James Bond theme.Used to see this on WTBS 17 during rain delays of a Braves game

  • My only complaint about this song is that it's way too short. Otherwise, I am in total agreement with the posts here. Lots of memories.

  • So awesome. It brings me right back to blow the dust off the yellowed, faded years of my early childhood. A quieting, a stillness within...

  • What about the opener for Bill Burruds Animal World with trumpets and high stucato that was awsome inspired by no other than Herb Alpert, It started with drums and bongo's.

  • that's some pretty damned cool end theme music.

  • I always thought this music was creepy as hell.

  • This is fantastic! Haven't heard it in several years. Many thanks.

  • This. I remember this! Fantastic.

  • You can tell THIS is from the 70's ... so slap me some skin, you JIVE turkey. LOL

  • Those any one now are can i download all the series of The wild wild world of animal.

  • NICE!!! Love the eerie tone!!! An ideal counterpart to the original intro!!! Loveto register, YOU ROCK!!!

  • Did the artists do any more music? This is awesome!

  • YES......I've had this song in my head for 22 years

  • Thank you for finding this. It's been etched in my brain and spontaneously plays whenever I close the book when I'm done studying.

  • AWESOME!! Youtube is the greatest!! I would of never ran into this beat without this channel.!! LOL!!

  • had a jungle beat to it..thanks:)

  • OK, so please post the other theme that replaced this, I think that's the one that's been bugging me for 30+ years! I think it had a more African rhythm to it.

  • @snailhairdune you're probably thinking of the intro (I posted it)...the replacement to this theme was kind of generic sounding, definitely not more of an African rhythm than the themes I posted.

  • Thanks both the intro and outro are weird and wonderful themes, but perhaps it's a different show altogether I'm thinking of!

  • @snailhairdune

Wow! Agree 100% I love the fact that two of the themes for this great show have been posted. But if possible I would love the third theme too. Heck, I would pay money for it! To "Love2Register" thanks for posting. These themes are great. And to anyone out there... if you have the other theme I would love to see it posted.

Sometimes it really is a small world. I thought I was the only person who as a kid remembered this animal show.

  • @snailhairdune The theme I think you're looking for is to Untamed World. Look up "Untamed World outro 1970s" in youtube search. It's not the intro but is the same song.

  • @cheese611000 Yes it is Untamed World I was remembering, I found it a while ago, but thanks. It's strangely electronic, more so than I remember as a kid.

  • I'd watch the show, then as this closing tune came on,I'd crank up the volume. Bluenote 71 is right

    for it does sounds swanky.

  • someone needs to sample this song and mix with a goriilaz song,or something old school like papa was a rolling stone.cool song going to waste.

  • ROFL. I can't believe I found this again! My younger brother and I used to watch the William Conrad-narrated show at 7:30 weeknights on PBS in Los Angeles. We used to do these cat-prowling dances to this song. Yeah, it's a little embarrassing, but this song totally rocked rhythm and beat wise. Thanks for posting.

  • sounds very funny! can you do the dance and post it on you tube for us?

  • Ahhh, I wish, 7x. I can't dance for jack now, lol.

  • Oh this brings back memories.

  • this was so boring I hate it because it only told you credits about the movie.

  • When I was a kid it was always-7:30pm, PBS channel 2 Boston, for Wild Wild World of Animals. Man I loved this show. Thanks so much for posting

  • This video reminds of when I was a kid in growing up in SC. My brother and I watched this show every day. This is a great closing they just don't make good show opens or closing like this anymore. It was so simple but good the crap today 10 sec and you are into the crappy show. And I siad crppy shows

  • Swanky!

Thanks so much for posting. I don't think things from our childhoods that we feel are some special should be forgotten.

  • I can't believe it!! I've missed this song soooo much. Thank you so much for posting this incredible song. I just wish it was longer!!

  • I thought the music was on point!

  • i remember this very well! ;) i was 10 or 11 and had graduated from being a bug fanatic to fascinated with snakes! ha!! i still am!!! didn't William Conrad narrate the show? the heavy set guy who used to play Cannon?

  • Yes, the show was narrated by William Cannon.

  • Man! I've been searching for this on and off for years. I got it mixed up with Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Here it is! Thanks for posting! I was so enchanted by it as a six year old watching the program.

  • Comment removed

  • is it available on cd? great, great music

  • oh yeah definitly remembered this one.

  • Well I'll be damned. I NEVER thought I'd hear this long lost theme again. Wow.

  • I'd forgotten all about the beginning music, but I always remembered this great ending. Never thought I'd hear it again. Definitely tops my list for great theme music of forgotten shows. The theme music reflected the tone of the show--a more seriious take overall than Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Both shows had outstanding theme music.

  • rad, how bout an extended remix, get on it lads,I wanna hear it on dancefloors by summer!

  • Thanks for posting this. I wonder if you heard of "The World of Survival" with John Forsythe which came on TV about the same time frame? I've not been able to find the oringinal theme song for that show.

  • sorry I don't remember "...Survival" though I probably saw it back in the day.

I definitely remember the other you requested Lorne Green's Wilderness (several years later iirc) but don't have that theme either.

  • I remember now it wasn't the reptile episode that freaked me out, it was the one about the NIGHT ANIMALS!! Does anyone remember or have a copy of that one? Is this series out on dvd??

  • Thank you!

My brother and I watched this show every week together as kids. He died this November after a boating accident. How nice it is to relive this time.

  • you're very welcome. Take care

  • always loved this and learned to play. thanx.

  • come to think of it...i believe witkin composed the end theme and trede composed the intro theme. this doesn't sound anything like trede and the intro sounds everything like him.

  • What a cool theme. All that effort for the END of a show!

  • I still have some of these show my dad recorded for me and I have been wanting to post them up here. I cant find anymore on the web!

  • oh.my.gosh. i cannot believe i am listening to this after allllll these years!!!! how cool is this?!?! THANK YOU!!!!

  • This was a great nature show. I was hoping the music here was released on a record in the 70s. I don't think it was. I have some lps on the Selected Sounds label by Gerhard Trede and it isn't on them.

  • I've never heard of a record with the themes having been released. You're lucky to have some of the Trede LP's though, I've never heard any of those but have wanted to.

  • they're awful. half of them are musique concrete records and the other half are barely passable for music. unless you're into that sort of thing. he did a lot of electronic experimentation where he would hammer down one signal for 5 seconds at a time. they're more like test records.

  • hmmn the "test record" thing you described doesn't sound appealing I must say, but concrete/experimental can be great, it's a case-by-case basis from my experience.

  • Reminds me of watching the programs in High School.Music brings flashbacks.

  • That brought back so many memories!! Thanks for posting!!

  • 12;30pm chanel 6 after ss T 11;00AM Iremember this.

  • Thanks for posting the end credits.

I loved the opening theme music and carried some bit of its vibe through the years. But I'd totally forgotten this theme. Thanks for bringing it back to mind.

  • As to a hint of who did the opening and the closing theme: The late Beatrice Witkin was an electronic music composer, one of the first women to work in that field. That should be a clue as to which of the themes she did.

  • Trede did electronic stuff too, though. Are you sure one did beginning and one did ending?

  • From what I read about Ms. Witkin, she worked exclusively in the electronic-music field. Sounds like Mr. Trede did both electronic and "conventional" music. Besides, the ending music does almost have a quasi-Bert Kaempfertesque "vibe" to it . . .

  • Bravo!!, hace mucho tiempo que deseaba volver a escuchar este tema, me trae muchos recuerdos de mi infancia y de este programa

  • Who ever decided to take this show off the air should get eaten by a lion

  • I seem to recall that one reason, if not the reason, that this show was on the air in the first place, was due to the FCC's 1971 "fin-syn" rule that led to the networks' losing half an hour a day from their TV schedules (the 7:30-8:00 time period).

  • Let me correct that: It was actually another FCC mandate, the "Prime-Time Access Rule," that may partly explain this program's five-year (1973-78) run.

  • You're damn right! Coolest animal show ever. I love the opening and closing themes.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Yup, that's it all right! Thanks!

  • Very cool! Brings back many many memories. I had long since forgotten about this show!!

  • YES! I always loved this music and only just now did I decided I should try to search for it here. Yes, yes, YES!!!

  • Always loved this and never thought id hear it again.GREAT POST! thanks!!

  • Cool James Bond music! Gotta love that lounge vibe.

  • You Ain't Kiddin"!

  • @lakes6 yeah thats what i was thinking

  • This end theme is the one I always remembered

  • good lookin' out

  • Awsome. Depressing but in a good way .

  • I remembered how cool the opening theme was, but I'd forgotten about this unt8il I heard it again just now. That definitely brings back memories.
