and hes using a kensmith man if they werent so expensive id buy one but seeing how as im a poor college student ill have to get the next best thing a fender jazz bass. also weird pick ups
this shit is inspiring no matter what you do or play its just good heavy pocket and fun. the smile on both of their faces lets off that they truly enjoy what they are doing. used to have this on vhs.
@bdrums777 Its not necessarily his tuning. if you listen to some of his other clips (newer ones mainly) his toms sound really punchy and good. I not a fan of how they sound on this clip either, but older technology and mics may have alot to do with it...
Get the video, SERIOUS MOVES, I think. He explains the reason why he played that way was because the percussionist had left, so he incorporated his part into his drumming. But he stopped because he did not want people to think that he was showing off.
it was a little facetious, but I think there is something to that- in larger funk bands everyone has to compete for space to be heard, which doesn't usually result in... conservative(?) playing but pretty flamboyant stuff. dig?
Just epic...

Aside from this being so tight, I'm just noticing the top quality of Grainger's tone and articulation

This shit sux! He should go back to the way he played the original one! The drums are not a lead instrument.
