Great, great vid!! A question from an absolute novice. I have a 1980 Peavy T-60 and I've tried to learn guitar with it a few times, but it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to fret or even really play well at all. The neck is too thin and I've got bony fingers, so the thing just sits in the case. I love the tone on your '60s Classic Vibe and it looks like the neck is wider than my Peavy -- do you think this model might be a good guitar for a beginner to learn with?
i have a john mayer strat as well , and i am looking for a second guitar to keep tuned to Eb but i dont want to spend 2 grand like i did on the mayer, or even 1000 for that matter, are these worth the 350$ ? or would i be better spending the xtra 150 for a mexican ?
Great playing and a excellent demo of these guitars! I was heading out to get a Blues Junior this weekend BUT now you got me wanting to take a look at those Squiers instead!
I just got one of the 50S and sold my 2000 american standard ! The cheaper squire just sounded so much better ! It is lighter and was worried about sustain but sustains great !
It loves over drive dirty and fuzz..... Not so much with a distortion but it is a 50S !
Love this guitar... Tele for sure is next (blonde) and a 60s strat....
This is what I wished my american sounded like for the last 10 years now I have what I want for tone !
nice playing! I'm with you - I like the 50's one better, mainly because I prefer the maple fretboards on a strat. what kind of amp/effects/settings are you using to get that nice hendrix tone?
I really like your playing style. The Classic Vibe sounds almost as good as the American made strats! Do you have any CD's for sale online? Perhaps CB Baby?
In all honesty do these squires feel like an american standard? I'm cool to buy a standard but if these are the same dang thing I don't want to waste my money!
@pntblnguitarists No they are not the same thing, there are a lot of differences between the two, but I won't list them all here. They feel nice, play good and sound good, but there is a bit more refinement and nicer components in the American guitars. Money wise, however you can close that gap with very little invested into a classic Vibe. Also with that said I tend to reach for my classic vibe almost more than any other guitar I own.
@Gyan111 No, because its easier to make adjustments on the fly to the springs, trem claw, also makes string changes quicker. I just take them off as soon as I buy them and toss em in a drawer.
@nickjack64 I'll be getting 50's one soon. Just seems refined and can go nasty if you want it. Think that 60's cant wash off that dirty sound, which i don't underestimate, but love it. After all, I plan on trying both in the shop. I guess fate will decide.
These guitars are the best deal out right now. I own the cv 50's tele and it is incredible. These do blow the MIM away at less money and give the american fenders a serious run for the money. I own 45 guitars, several american made high end fenders and the vintage vibe series is the greatest thing there is for a gigging musician. My friend that has more $'s invested in his guitars than he has in his house is stunned at my CV Tele. I plan on getting the entire series.
A couple years ago I posted here that I bought a MIM strat and it was the "best guitar I've ever played". Fast forward to a few days ago when I picked up one of these Classic Vibe 60's and I'm completely blown away...And I mean nuke me from orbit blown away. The CV sounds better and plays better than any MIM strat I've played ever and is now my main guitar. And for the price it's a steal. I'd also like to give a nod to Yogi for this demo because before I saw this I never knew about the CV line.
This video was one of the things that convinced me to buy my CV. There are better guitars out there, for sure, but nothing for anything like the price of these things.
PLEASE TEACH ME BOLD AS LOOOOVEEEE (i tried to learn it with the tabs but it is too hard so i need the chords), anyway my squier bulletstrat is better than your jm strat (just kidding) i think i'm gonna buy a classic vibe strat, is it as good as an american standard?
@ledford1100 You aren't going to get an 80s metal sound from a vintage style Strat. They all had humbuckers and Floyd Roses. And why do you want a super thin way too distorted 80s tone?
Thanks for the great vid!! One question tho, I got the 60s one but without connecting it to the amp, when I play 6th string passed 12th fret toward the bridge, it makes buzzing sounds. does yours do the samething?
@lyj41 You just need a setup. Most new guitars need one. Its pretty simple you can do it yourself. Try taking an allen wrench and raising the height of the saddle or the 6th string string. Raise it in small amounts until you reach the desired height/no buzz. If this doesn't work you may need a truss rod adjustment. I would leave that to a guitar tech professional as it is easy to screw up yourself.
Hey YogiSizzle, nice collection! The immediate thing that comes across in the sound on video is the stronger volume and snap from the US Fender. Have you ever heard Squiers/Mex with better/US pickups? In your opinion, would it shrink the gap between a $300 guitar to the $1500 model? I tried out one of these new Squiers today and was very impressed by the fit and finish, but the sound just lets its down a little. Thinking - maybe worth buying and upgrading the pups...
@thedigitalsnake Well the pickups that come stock in these guitars are actually really nice to my ears. Good, solid low output, vintage style alnico pickups. Of the vintage strats I've played the Squier CVs sound really close. Old strats in person, especially the 50s models, don't have that strong volume like the JM. My Custom Shop '65 is that way too. Pickups are really subjective however, so its hard to say. I loved the way they sound stock, and at gig volumes the CV 50 just screams!
Hey man, great demo! I have a little question though; I already have the 50's model in sunburst, and I really love the way it plays and sounds, but I really like the look and feel of the 60's strats too with the rosewood neck and all. How did you find the 60's sound compared to the 50's? Brighter, more midrangey? Thanks!
cool review man very nice playing. I am new to the strat world and if you had to chose between the 50's squier and the 60's, which one would you choose?
how is the 50s neck compared to the 60s? same feel/shape? i did try a classic vibe tele and found the next smaller than an average tele neck which i kind of liked!
Hey There YogieSizzle!..... Nice Collection Of Squiers You Have There; I Just Picked Up A Squier Tele (ButterScotch Blond) Last Month And I Love It. I Realy Enjoy Your Videos And Your Playing Is The Top!
which one do you like better? I went to a small local store who had both the CV 50s and 60s Strat going with the intention of walking out with the 60s based on the preference in online reviews. After playing both back to back for an hour and half in the store, I left with the CV 50s Strat. I loved the Alnico III pickups. The looks are cleaner and more elegant too. I just thought it fit my playing style more for Jazz to Blues. Which one do you like better?
im a bass player mostly but i like to play guitar at home and im looking at either one of the 50s starts in LPB or the vintage modified jazzmaster in butterscotch.
@TheStormtrooperrr go with the g400 I have one and it is really nice. It's got 2 humbuckers so u can get that really thick chunky sound and if you mess with the neck pickup (raise it) you can get a really good jazz sound. Plus I think epiphones are just nicer in general. Another one u might wanna consider is a prs se custom they are around the same price and from what i hear pretty good. And the look amazing :)
@TheStormtrooperrr It really depends on what kind of classic rock sound you are going for. Early Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Robin Trower were done on strats and teles. Later LZ, Cream, Allman brothers etc were with Les Pauls/ SGs. I have a little bit of both so it won't hurt to go that route if you can afford it. Personally I'm not that big of an SG fan. To me they aren't balanced well and tend to be neck heavy. which really bothers me during performances.
Choose the squier. I had an epiphone g400. It's a good looking guitar, but it hasn't got a really good sound. Now I have a squier classiv vibe tele, and it's so much better! And I think strato is better too. Anyway, the g400 is head weighted, and it's a very big problem too. So it's unconfortable to play on it.

@TheStormtrooperrr its all about tone and touch really. the scale length has alot to do with it. fatter more fuller tones can be achieved with like a 24 3/4 scale. where clearer and more snap, precise notes can be achieved on a 25 1/2 scale. plus the neckes on strats and gibson models are different too. strats have a width that starts even at the first and last fret, where gibsons are skinny on first fret and gain with going towards last fret. its really all about feel and tone though.
When I listen to the 3 guitars, the single string licks and bends, sound good on all three guitars, it's when you full/partial chords, in my humble opinion, the mayer just sounds better, the other two seem muddier and drop off in volume in comparison. Grant you I'm talking about a somewhat subtle effect. But I thought the best sound and best performance was out of the mayer guitar. Right after 4:06, the chord played at 11th fret is an example of the nice mayer sound. might just be pickups.
I suggest for you....either a Fender twin xd, bandmaster xd, or vibro champ xd.....gotta have the all tube, though. Your strats will shimmer, shine, and spank.
Like your collection. With all those strats...why don't you spend a few hundred bucks and get a fender tube amp , like the vibro champ xd reissue. A little secret....Leo Fender made his cheap strats & teles to sell his amps! Compared to expensive Gibsons and Jazz boxes at the time...these strats were only made to voice the Fender Amps It was not until Hendrix used them that they fetched these outrageous prices. IT IS A SIMPLE AND CHEAP DESIGN. GET A FENDER AMP....YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
@novanine9 If you watch more of my videos I actually owned a Vibro Champ XD for a while, moved it on though. I play through an all tube Peavey Classic 50 now.
@novanine9 The Peavey has a great clean, not as nice as the Fender, but still sparkling and spanky. The overdrive however is much better than you'd get out of a Blackface or lower end Fender Hot rod amp. Also I got the classic for about 250 used. Try getting an All tube, USA made Fender for that price ( The hot rod series amps are made in Mexico now). Plus Peavey's Headquarters are like 45 mins away from in Mississippi, but not like I'd need them these amps are built like tanks!
@YogiSizzle - Definintely something to consider. I'm about 5 months away from having to make a decision and get an amp for live cofee shop gigs. Right now I'm using preamps and Guitar Rig to record straight to my DAW. I'm torn between a Fender or a Blackstar combo, and also...a Carvin mts 3200. That Carvin has, probably, the best spanky clean channel of any tube amp...IF YOU WANT TO HIT THOSE HENDRIX ACCENTS...WHOOSH - KBOOM. live clean...nothing better
Thanks for this...I'm looking to get one of these...I think the 50's sounds nicer and less harsh....they all sounded amazing though....too many guitars, too little cash :)
personaly i likes the 50's one the best better then the john mayer idk it sounded muddy to me the john mayer one. but thats me i love strats. im trying to purchase a 50's classic vibe. so thanks very mcuh dude for the review
The two Squiers Classic Vibes definitely sound more melodic and Harmonic than the John Mayer signature Strat which is darker sounding. The John Mayer Strat has the Rio Grande Pickups... I prefer Tex Mex's, Texas specials and The Alnico III pickups in the 50's Classic Vibe and the Alnico V's in the 60's Classic Strat. Fender Use Alnico III and V's in all their High end Strats anyway... John Mayer got that one wrong with the Rio Grande's I would change those for Alnico iII's or Custom shop 54's
@TheStratplayer1 The John Mayer strat doesn't use Rio Grande pickups. The pickups are Fender Big Dipper pickups which are unique to this model. They are Alnico Vs with fiber bobbins and cloth wiring. The sound to me in person the Mayer definitely has the edge. It is a little bit crisper and rounder.
@YogiSizzle Yeah What was I thinking lol The Mayer Strat is Darker sounding is what I said- It may well have the edge and be crisper- My point is: Classic Vibes definitely sound more melodic and Harmonic. As you point out the Big Dipper's are unique to the John Mayer Model. They are different- That does not make them sound better than any of the Custom Shop 50'S ie 54 and 57 pickups which are the "Classic" Fender sound we all know and love... I have an SRV and its nice but different as well
I enjoyed your vid. I like the look of the 50's but the sound of the 60's, so I'm torn. Who's the blonde cardboard cutout in the background? Is that the chick from the movie Dirty Mary Crazy Larry?
Just got one of these guitars and they are really good. You can never have enough guitars. I would love it if they brought out one of the 60's with a maple neck.
Hey man. Great job. Which of the two CV's do you prefer and why? Just wondering. I just bought the classic vibe custom Tele and was blown away. I am contemplating selling a Mexi strat to buy one of the CV strats
You spend a lot on guitars, but nothing on a decent chair... I guess I ain't mad though because i'm sittin' in a nice chair wishin' I had at least one strat.
@slpplexi1969 Yep :D Kurt will put them up, there is a guitar that goes for about $159 in surf green now, can't remember the name, I'll look here. Not a Strat, nor a Tele. It's a Liquid. SX Liquid in Surf Green i think.
@hendrix7755 Not anymore than any other strat, it all depends on the setup. Ironically I'm out of tune here, but I just had been playing the hell out of them and forgot to tune before filming lol. But if you have decently cut nut and the trem is setup you won't have a problem, however this is an issue even on more expensive strats.
@saina002 Yeah I could have done a more thorough review of the things, but I really just wanted to compare the build quality and sound quality to a more expensive instrument.
after playing these i think the squire CV sounds better then newer MIM standards but the 50s Mexican Classic is better then the squire CV .......The best MIM standard's are the 94-2000 models the newer ones are crap
@tynitty516 Whats better about the 94-2000 ones? The new MIM standards use better materials, woods etc. The old mim standards were made of veneered poplar. had small frets, small zinc block, no tint on the neck. after the recent upgrade I think the MIMs are better than ever. I do agree that the MIM classic line is better though than a cv
I've got a little question for you brother, are those made in china. Cuz I think (and maybe I'm wrong) that some are made in Indonesia. And I've heard there's quite a difference between the two, the chinese being the better on?
@YogiSizzle Thanks for clearing this up for me friend, I´ma gonna get myself one of those then! Nice playing by the way, I've played for 2 years soon and are trying to get the Hendrix grip down, like you have! Nice playing! Keep it up! :)
Hey, man, nice review. I have a question though. Have you had a chance to play or hear either the Fender's 60s Classic Player Strat or 60s Classic Series Strat?.. If so, what do you hear that's a ton different about the two?.. I know the Classic Player has those 69 pickups, but can you really tell a difference between those and the ones on the Classic Series?..
@HeemNHuggie I actually owned a Classic Player 60s. There is a big difference between the two. You already mentioned the pickups. The CP has bigger frets, Flatter radius which is better for bends, and a 2 point bridge which operates a bit smoother than a 6 point. The 60s has generic Alnico 5 pickups. Not bad, but just generic compared to the vintage chime of the 69s. Overall the CP is just a nicer guitar, but both have decent build quality. I hate I traded my CP for an Epi valve Junior stack :(
@bengaltiger96 I actually have one that I modified. The Vms are nice guitars, but the CVs just feel a bit nicer to me, and the strats have more traditional woods. The VMs have Indian Red Cedar bodies while the CVs are 2-3 pieces of Alder. The Duncan Design pickups are ok, I actually like them more in another strat than I did when they were in the VM. Overall the VMs are a nicer modern guitar, while the CVs appeal if you like a more vintage guitar.
@kujofox That has nothing to do with setup just that I forgot to tune before I started recording as others have pointed out if you read the comments :). It didn't sound that bad when I was recording but the video amplified the incorrect pitches
@YogiSizzle it potentially could have had something to do with the set-up. if the intonation isn't set up, then the guitar is going to be out of tune, even if the strings are all in tune when open. i believe you now, but i'm just saying that i wasn't crazy to think that it could have been a set up issue.
@kujofox True, but it wasn't an intonation issue as I had the shop I bought it from do a setup on both before I took them home and I set up the Mayer, it was a tuning issue. I had been playing them non-stop since I took them home :). I did more videos of them and they are in tune ( check out the little wing I did with the 50s). Thanks for taking time to watch my channel
I really enjoyed this clip, thanks for posting it.
Great Bluesy/Hendrix sound, and I agree 100%, these guitars (and Basses I've heard on other clips) sound way better than the Mexican equivalents, which I've owned in the past, and which cost a whole lot more!
yeah agree. I plugged a mexican made guitar that was about 900 dollars and the telecaster vibe smoked it. I also played the mustang and 50s strat, booth good but the mustang isn't my style. these are the biggest steal for a poor guitarist.
I have an American strat, but Im itchin' for a candy apple red CV 60s. I'll probably wait for a deal on a used one. Christina Ricci is pretty nice too, haha.
@No2647 Do you mean between the two Squiers, or between them and the Fender? Personally, and even through this video I hear the difference between the 50s and 60s models, and it is even more apparent in person.
i like the tone your getting from your amp as well. what kind of amp and what are you settings on the amp?

lyj41 7 months ago
@lyj41 You just need a setup. Most new guitars need one. Its pretty simple you can do it yourself. Try taking an allen wrench and raising the height of the saddle or the 6th string string. Raise it in small amounts until you reach the desired height/no buzz. If this doesn't work you may need a truss rod adjustment. I would leave that to a guitar tech professional as it is easy to screw up yourself.

YogiSizzle 7 months ago
Hey man, great demo! I have a little question though; I already have the 50's model in sunburst, and I really love the way it plays and sounds, but I really like the look and feel of the 60's strats too with the rosewood neck and all. How did you find the 60's sound compared to the 50's? Brighter, more midrangey? Thanks!
MrSkAtEfReAk12 7 months ago
@MrSkAtEfReAk12 the 50s is brighter than the 60s. The 60s is mellower and darker sounding

cool review man very nice playing. I am new to the strat world and if you had to chose between the 50's squier and the 60's, which one would you choose?
texasff630 7 months ago
how is the 50s neck compared to the 60s? same feel/shape? i did try a classic vibe tele and found the next smaller than an average tele neck which i kind of liked!
marokokisetter 7 months ago
@marokokisetter The necks are the exact same shape and thickness.
YogiSizzle 7 months ago
The 50's are cool, but are they easily get out of tune?
kecapasinlombok 7 months ago
@kecapasinlombok No not really. If you use the whammy a lot with any strat they tend to go out of tune unless you have a good trem setup

which one do you like better? I went to a small local store who had both the CV 50s and 60s Strat going with the intention of walking out with the 60s based on the preference in online reviews. After playing both back to back for an hour and half in the store, I left with the CV 50s Strat. I loved the Alnico III pickups. The looks are cleaner and more elegant too. I just thought it fit my playing style more for Jazz to Blues. Which one do you like better?

@TheStormtrooperrr go with the g400 I have one and it is really nice. It's got 2 humbuckers so u can get that really thick chunky sound and if you mess with the neck pickup (raise it) you can get a really good jazz sound. Plus I think epiphones are just nicer in general. Another one u might wanna consider is a prs se custom they are around the same price and from what i hear pretty good. And the look amazing :)
Mrsamlki 10 months ago
can't decide between this or epiphone g400!!!!!!I play classic rock btw
TheStormtrooperrr 10 months ago
@TheStormtrooperrr It really depends on what kind of classic rock sound you are going for. Early Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Robin Trower were done on strats and teles. Later LZ, Cream, Allman brothers etc were with Les Pauls/ SGs. I have a little bit of both so it won't hurt to go that route if you can afford it. Personally I'm not that big of an SG fan. To me they aren't balanced well and tend to be neck heavy. which really bothers me during performances.
YogiSizzle 10 months ago
Choose the squier. I had an epiphone g400. It's a good looking guitar, but it hasn't got a really good sound. Now I have a squier classiv vibe tele, and it's so much better! And I think strato is better too. Anyway, the g400 is head weighted, and it's a very big problem too. So it's unconfortable to play on it.

@TheStormtrooperrr its all about tone and touch really. the scale length has alot to do with it. fatter more fuller tones can be achieved with like a 24 3/4 scale. where clearer and more snap, precise notes can be achieved on a 25 1/2 scale. plus the neckes on strats and gibson models are different too. strats have a width that starts even at the first and last fret, where gibsons are skinny on first fret and gain with going towards last fret. its really all about feel and tone though.
ghost6392 7 months ago 2
@ghost6392 good point, they really do feel different with the scale lengths, but I say any good Guitar Arsenal should have both! I do :)

ahooahoo7777 11 months ago
When I listen to the 3 guitars, the single string licks and bends, sound good on all three guitars, it's when you full/partial chords, in my humble opinion, the mayer just sounds better, the other two seem muddier and drop off in volume in comparison. Grant you I'm talking about a somewhat subtle effect. But I thought the best sound and best performance was out of the mayer guitar. Right after 4:06, the chord played at 11th fret is an example of the nice mayer sound. might just be pickups.
ahooahoo7777 11 months ago
I suggest for you....either a Fender twin xd, bandmaster xd, or vibro champ xd.....gotta have the all tube, though. Your strats will shimmer, shine, and spank.
novanine9 11 months ago
Like your collection. With all those strats...why don't you spend a few hundred bucks and get a fender tube amp , like the vibro champ xd reissue. A little secret....Leo Fender made his cheap strats & teles to sell his amps! Compared to expensive Gibsons and Jazz boxes at the time...these strats were only made to voice the Fender Amps It was not until Hendrix used them that they fetched these outrageous prices. IT IS A SIMPLE AND CHEAP DESIGN. GET A FENDER AMP....YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
novanine9 11 months ago
@novanine9 If you watch more of my videos I actually owned a Vibro Champ XD for a while, moved it on though. I play through an all tube Peavey Classic 50 now.
YogiSizzle 11 months ago
@YogiSizzle - Hmm...what is it about the Peavey classic 50 that you favored over the Fender?
novanine9 11 months ago
@novanine9 The Peavey has a great clean, not as nice as the Fender, but still sparkling and spanky. The overdrive however is much better than you'd get out of a Blackface or lower end Fender Hot rod amp. Also I got the classic for about 250 used. Try getting an All tube, USA made Fender for that price ( The hot rod series amps are made in Mexico now). Plus Peavey's Headquarters are like 45 mins away from in Mississippi, but not like I'd need them these amps are built like tanks!
YogiSizzle 11 months ago
@YogiSizzle - Definintely something to consider. I'm about 5 months away from having to make a decision and get an amp for live cofee shop gigs. Right now I'm using preamps and Guitar Rig to record straight to my DAW. I'm torn between a Fender or a Blackstar combo, and also...a Carvin mts 3200. That Carvin has, probably, the best spanky clean channel of any tube amp...IF YOU WANT TO HIT THOSE HENDRIX ACCENTS...WHOOSH - KBOOM. live clean...nothing better
novanine9 11 months ago
@novanine9 are you saying Hendrix used a fender amp?
smackenurjunk 11 months ago
@smackenurjunk - Oh YEAH! Only a noob will make the mistake of seeing those stacks of Marshalls on the stage and assume stupidly.
His main Fender clean sounds on Little Wings, Axis, Casltes, Hey Joe was recorded with a Fender tube.
What you heard on those classic albums. Unfortunately live...those little Fenders don't have the volume.
novanine9 11 months ago
@smackenurjunk hendrix used in 1968 Fender Dual Showman amps.

pkalldayful 1 year ago
The two Squiers Classic Vibes definitely sound more melodic and Harmonic than the John Mayer signature Strat which is darker sounding. The John Mayer Strat has the Rio Grande Pickups... I prefer Tex Mex's, Texas specials and The Alnico III pickups in the 50's Classic Vibe and the Alnico V's in the 60's Classic Strat. Fender Use Alnico III and V's in all their High end Strats anyway... John Mayer got that one wrong with the Rio Grande's I would change those for Alnico iII's or Custom shop 54's
TheStratplayer1 1 year ago
@TheStratplayer1 The John Mayer strat doesn't use Rio Grande pickups. The pickups are Fender Big Dipper pickups which are unique to this model. They are Alnico Vs with fiber bobbins and cloth wiring. The sound to me in person the Mayer definitely has the edge. It is a little bit crisper and rounder.
YogiSizzle 1 year ago
@YogiSizzle Yeah What was I thinking lol The Mayer Strat is Darker sounding is what I said- It may well have the edge...

I have an SRV and its nice but different as well

hendrix7755 1 year ago
@hendrix7755 Not anymore than any other strat, it all depends on the setup. Ironically I'm out of tune here, but I just had been playing the hell out of them and forgot to tune before filming lol. But if you have decently cut nut and the trem is setup you won't have a problem, however this is an issue even on more expensive strats.

after playing these i think the squire CV sounds better then newer MIM standards but the 50s Mexican Classic is better then the squire CV .......The best MIM standard's are the 94-2000 models the newer ones are crap
tynitty516 1 year ago
@tynitty516 Whats better about the 94-2000 ones? The new MIM standards use better materials, woods etc. The old mim standards were made of veneered poplar. had small frets, small zinc block, no tint on the neck. after the recent upgrade I think the MIMs are better than ever. I do agree that the MIM classic line is better though than a cv

HeemNHuggie 1 year ago
@HeemNHuggie I actually owned a Classic Player 60s. There is a big difference between the two. You already mentioned the pickups. The CP has bigger frets, Flatter radius which is better for bends, and a 2 point bridge which operates a bit smoother than a 6 point. The 60s has generic Alnico 5 pickups. Not bad, but just generic compared to the vintage chime of the 69s. Overall the CP is just a nicer guitar, but both have decent build quality. I hate I traded my CP for an Epi valve Junior stack :(
YogiSizzle 1 year ago
Hey holmes, have you tried the vintage modified strats? Just wondering if you know how they compare to either the classic vibes or your Mayer.
bengaltiger96 1 year ago
@bengaltiger96 I actually have one that I modified. The Vms are nice guitars, but the CVs just feel a bit nicer to me, and the strats have more traditional woods. The VMs have Indian Red Cedar bodies while the CVs are 2-3 pieces of Alder. The Duncan Design pickups are ok, I actually like them more in another strat than I did when they were in the VM. Overall the VMs are a nicer modern guitar, while the CVs appeal if you like a more vintage guitar.

am I the only person who thinks all these guitars need to be set-up? man they're out of tune.
kujofox 1 year ago
@kujofox That has nothing to do with setup just that I forgot to tune before I started recording as others have pointed out if you read the comments :). It didn't sound that bad when I was recording but the video amplified the incorrect pitches
YogiSizzle 1 year ago
@YogiSizzle it potentially could have had something to do with the set-up. if the intonation isn't set up, then the guitar is going to be out of tune, even if the strings are all in tune when open. i believe you now, but i'm just saying that i wasn't crazy to think that it could have been a set up issue.
kujofox 1 year ago
@kujofox True, but it wasn't an intonation issue as I had the shop I bought it from do a setup on both before I took them home and I set up the Mayer, it was a tuning issue. I had been playing them non-stop since I took them home :). I did more videos of them and they are in tune ( check out the little wing I did with the 50s). Thanks for taking time to watch my channel
