@balouchb Make a better Meikyo if you can, and post it to youtube. When you'll do it better and you'll earn the 10th dan degree black belt you should judge Master Kanazawa and his karate, until then shut your mouse and learn to respect someone who really did something in his life, not like you.
This is the version I practice. It makes much more sense to me than the JKA version. But that is simply a personal choice. For me learning the various different bunkai from different schools is what makes kata so interesting.
The breathing at the beginning is just brilliant. Everyone (yes everyone) forgets to breath, so starting the kata with breathing is just genius.
in the wkf version is no age uke and only one time uche ude uke, the uche ude uke is wrong, it has to be an gedan barai, instead of age uke it must be uche ude uke
just bekuz YOUR organization teaches one way doesnt make it any more correct then another oraganization who does it differently.. people like u who think there way is the only way and everyone else most be wrong are idiots. Using your logic i guess this version and the WKF or whateva is wrong too then, kuz the okinawan and ORIGINAL version "Rohai" looks like none of the current japanese meikyo versions. =P
and for your information, Shihan Kanazawa has changed many Katas - for reasons out of our scope now- and as favr for ppl i wanted to have thier attention for it. changes are acceptable ONLY within SKIF. so no point to learn it when you are not SKIF/
Im sure you dunt learn GoJurio and say its Shotokan.

Im fag if he's 10th Dan...the only living man ever achieved 10th Dan during his life from the fundation of the shotokan is the president of tha JKA organisation Nobuyuki Nakahara..I achieved higher technique level than this one..
OK. You're a fag. Wikipedia: "In October 2007, the ISKF technical committee announced Okazaki's promotion to 10th dan, the highest ranking karate master in the ISKF, and among only a couple others internationally at the time, of which Hirokazu Kanazawa is one."
You're wrong FAG. Masatoshi Nakayama was the first to ever achieve 10th dan. This is Hirokazu Kanazawa, 10th, dan, student of Nakayama and Funakoshi. Kanazawa won the very first 'All Japan Karate Championship' in kumite 1957. Teruyuki Okazaki 10th dan, Hidetaka NIshiyama 10th dan, Tak Kubota 10th dan, Tetsuhiko Asai 10th dan.

Karate is a waste of time to learn, because when you see them fight, all you see is kicking and punching. All the fancy moves they do in the kata is not used. You might as well learn boxing for your arms, and ballet for your legs, because that's all we see when we see karate students, and their teachers fight in competition. Bottom line, if you what to fight like a karate master, then go to ballet classes and buy a punch bag, that way you will not waste your time on useless kata. AMEN.......
It's okay if you don't like SHOTOKAN (difference) but it doesn't give you a right to judge automatically on what you think is cool. I mean I think going to a stupid museum just to learn about mummies is a waste of time where there are history books. That's exactly the same thing that you are doing so I really wouldn't judge other people on what they like. Some people like history, some people like shotokan, we're all different.
the point of kata is not to fight--it's to understand the interaction of the different defenses and practice combinations of stances, blocks, punches, kicks, etc. and the "fancy" moves you are referring to are fancy in training--not in application. e.g. a slow, open handed gesture is likely to be used as a quick grab in an actual fight.
the initial move looks like breathing tecnique from chi kong. sorry for the spelling. but again in every martail art the breathing properly is very important
Yes, Kancho Kanazawa incorporated breathing in every single technique and every Kata move.Kancho has brought beuty into the Kata.He has advanced shotokan Karate where Nakiyama Sensei left off.Karatedo needed this modification for Karatekas to last longer. That is why at 78 now,Kancho Kanazawa is still going.A tai Chi Master with 35 years plus experience. He not only understand Japanese Martial art,he also understands Chinese Martial art.He is a remarkable human being.
kanazawa is a great master, no doubt. but he is not tai chi master. he practices tai chi, and it has benefitted him a lot, but it is obvious from this video that he has not integrated the internal foundation of tai chi into his karate movements. he is doing this just like karate. The one karateka I have seen that had real internal movement is toshiro oshiro. But he's okinawan te, not shotokan.
Thank you for your comments.I disagree with you.Kancho Kanazawa takes grading in taichi lessons. You can not do that unless you are a TaiChi Master, likewise in Karate, you can not take or give gradings unless you are a Master.SKIF Australia are all graded in Taichi By kancho Kanazawa.Yes level of Taichi Master differs.Osu
master at a different level? so then, what point is using master? master means just about as good as humanly possible, and continuous dedication to their art.
If you lower the level of what master means, you demean all the people, like kanazawa, who have dedicated their lives to an art.
Karate master? YES!!!
Tai Chi Master? not based on this vid.
does anyone have video of kanazawa or skif tai chi? I would really like to see it, please post.
Debating a silly argument with you has no benefit for me.You can hold whatever opinion you like.If you think everyone is equall ability, then you are so wrong.I do not know if you have trained under Kancho. The people who have will appreciate what you can not see in this vidio, how Kancho incorporates breatng.GoodLuck with you silly arguments.

The sequence that I was taught and that was acceptd when i graded for my shodan was gedan barai, uchi-ude-uke and age uke. So I`m inlcined to go with Master Kanawaza on this. Great to see a truly dedicated Master at work.
as good as Valdesi may be in his arena, his katas have been modified for competition, making it faster and 'sharper.' What it gains in speed and looks is loses in technique, application and history
I don't understand one thing. Shihan Kanazawa performs this Kata in a different way than does the blue-background videos or Luca Valdesi. The sequence of a block and oi-zuki:Kanazawa performs Gedan Barai,Uchi-Ude-Uke and Age Uke, Valdesi and the other: Gedan Barai, Gedan Barai and Uchi Ude Uke. Which is the right one?
10° dan? Ma che cazzo di merito ha questo karateca?

he sucks big time, lack of stability, timing, balance... for a guy with 10.dan.. sorry guys... but he sucks... or he is maybe getting old ..??

According to documented bunkai, there is supposed to be an ashi barai (leg sweep) in this kata, but i don't see it. Anyone knows???

Are you child you speak words without logic? 1- My orgnization is JKA/WF - its the greatest, largest and best orgnization ever.
2- I didnot say others are wrong or idiots, I wrote "if you are not SKIF member dnt learn it" because its acceptable within SKIF only.
3- JKA and Funakushi Supremaster are the one who invented Mikyo, NOT Kanazawa Shihan with all respect for him.
4- DONOT teach me Mikyo it was my GODAN exam. in WKF camp and JKA camp.
5- Learn and watch your words before you comment.

@deadooo: Funakoshi Sensei did not create Meikyo from imagination. He simply modified the traditional kata, Rohai, that this kata is based from.
It's not creating if you use a cheat-sheet.

ATTENTION ATTENTION readers..Meikyo kata with Kanazawa Sensei is not the orginal Meikyo!! he has changed the KATA and it apply ONLY WITH SKIF!!
DONOT learn it from this clip if you are not SKIF member..search for JKA or any WKF approved..its an advice. thanks.
