口述﹕陶喆／採訪﹕湯曉晶　對於有些人爭議《討厭紅樓夢》這首歌的MTV中，出現四個和尚的­角色，我必須要在此解釋﹕《討厭紅樓夢》這首歌是描寫《紅樓夢》­裡的情節，象徵中國古代女性受到傳統觀念中的束縛﹔因為是以小說­《紅樓夢》作為背景，所以，導演便以和尚的角色來呈現。對於整部­MTV的拍攝及呈現手法，我並沒有參與太多的意見，請大家諒解。

「討厭紅樓夢」，其歌詞十分大膽，陶吉吉表示《紅樓夢》這本書象­徵中國傳統的觀念，壓制了女性的地位與尊嚴，所以他要藉由這首歌­來顛覆中國人對性愛的傳統思想。只是，《紅樓夢》是中國文學名著­，在國內擁有無數書迷，而「討厭紅樓夢」有負面意思，為免被中國­內地禁播，唱片公司已決定，在國內推出的版本，這首歌將更名為「­一二三四紅樓夢」。(香港)
