Some of them were hilarous, for example when Homer Simpson told the entire family it was World War III and the nuclear bombs were dropping and rushed them into the fallout shelter in the dead of the night.

The early episodes were brilliant, and you could only get all the jokes if you were keeping up with current politics but it remained funny even if you didn't.
