SUCH A GREAT LOSS TO THE WORLD.....I'LL MISS HIM AND HIS SHOW, I USE TO RUN TO THE T.V EVERY STAURDAY " WHEN I COULD" @ 11 AM.....HIS LEGACY WILL NEVER DIE..
R.I.P Don Cornelius and thank you for so many memories. I remember Soul Train from almost the beginning. Thank God I learned early in life that music is music and feelings are feelings, it does not matter about the people involved. I miss these days of my youth and I guess I always will for the rest of my life. Dominus Vobiscum Don......
This is true entertainment. I remember this when I was 8 years old. I love the folks cha cha'ing in the background. So many fond memories. Thank you for posting.
Bobby didn't sing this song. Sam did. Lol. Now sum1 tell me y da song I Bet He Don't Love You sounds just like Sam too. But when this song came out.. Sam wasn't in the group. Bobby doesn't sound like Sam. Listen to When We Get Married. That's Bobby. It is possible that Sam did in fact make that song rite when Friends No More came out..
My guess is that its Bobby Star circa 1972, lip syncing on Soul Train to Sonny Brown's 1968 hit. Bobby replaced Sonny as lead singer of the Intruders for a few years. Not to say that Bobby didn't sing hits on his own, but for this appearance it seems the original track was used.
Thanks Don C and Thanks to the Intruders who gave us this great music.. So much so that a group from Chicago "TOGETHER" the Intruders Experience does a show stopping tribute to these great legends.. So the SoundsOfBlack-who by the way is a fake account set up to undermine tribute artists whose only sole purpose is to keep these legends music alive-needs to do research on the Intruders and needs to get a life.. Totally clueless SoundsOfBlack..
Great Performance!!! Great Philly Sound!!! 5 stars
Be aware of "fake" group Together The Intruders Experience ("Bad Experience")!!! Their lead singer is horrible. Their background are behind karaoke tracks. They wear the same tuxedos for every performance (not good). Little Sonny and Bobby Star would turn over in their grave if they heard Together The Intruders Experience sing their legendary songs . Together Intruders Experience is not a Philly group. RIP Sonny and Bobby.
You are so right without Don Cornelius so much this History would have been lost and left to the interpretation of MTV, VH1 or even worst Justin Bieber.
Sheeet, Soul Train? What year was this? I thought this was a late 60"s tune. Soul Train was later, correct? I'm confused, but who the hell cares. This is a dynomite cut that will forever survive time!
@HUSTLEMAN2 It's Bobby Starr who stepped in for "Little Sonny" when he left the group in 1970. Bobby filled in for Sonny until he came back & replaced him again when he left a few years later.
@theintruder42 The only one in this video who's not an original Intruder is the lead singer Bobby Starr. Bobby Starr replaced Samuel Brown a.k.a "Little Sonny" in 1970 & sang lead on their hits "When We Get Married" & "I'm Girl Scoutin'". The reason given for Little Sonny leaving the group is that he got married. It's possible that as this Soul Train appearance was at least 3 years after this song was a hit in 1968, they look different. But "Big Sonny", "Bird" & Phil are original Intruders.
@DatSoulBoss I aware of everything you said, the others guys are definitely originals members. After reading my comment i can see how you thought that i thought otherwise. My comment about fake groups is about whats happening today with a lot of groups using the name with no original members.
@theintruder42 The Intruder, being associated with a lot of our Classic Soul artists, I agree with you 1000%! Ironically, there's about 4 iterations of this group.
So grateful that Don Cornelius Soul Train captured all of this classic songs (when singin was singin) and class artists for posterity. The history is rich.
@mssquirrely Except for lead singer Bobby Starr who filled in for "Little Sonny" for a few years, the lineup is still the same. "Bird" Daughtry, "Big Sonny" Edwards & Phil Terry are all original Intruders. This Soul Train appearance is about 3 years after this song was a hit in 1968, so that may be why they appear to look so different.
I've always been a big fan of the Intruders.....never got to see them sing in person. I love this Soul Train performance. Love the song. But......I see the 1968 b&w performance ..and it's look like a totally different line-up. I know the lead singer in the B&W is not the same bro singing lead on Soul Train. But even the background singers look like a totally different line-up.
Wow. Too bad! That isn't Little Sonny singing, although it clearly is his voice. I did not know they did lip synching on that show. Still great to hear this, Sonny's version, regardless of who is on the video.

Nothing but respect for Bobby Starr, but does anyone else feel this GREAT
R&B performance looked a little subdued, compared to the B&W version
appearing multiple times on Y/T?
Just Bobby's moves & steps look dumb compared to Little Sonny.
