@payday0023 when i heard this song for the first time (which was about 10 min ago ... yeah ... i know) i thought it was a grateful dead song. that band could've def pulled this song off in a quality way. i was shocked to find that it was actually done by steely dan. but i saw this youtube post and said what the hell i'll hear the wilco ver too ... and then i read your video description and thought it'd be good to add my .02.
i wish it were possible to hear the grateful dead cover this song!
Its when the demon its at your door.. Hence in the morning "it" wont be there no more. It probably wouldn't bother me as much if it was some no name band at a local bar, but for Wilco to record it like that is a bit disrespectful to Donald.
A tasteful rendition, as always with Wilco. Kinda sounds like they missed a few chord changes in that "when the demons are at your door" part, though. Whateva.
@mezzetin1 opinions are like assholes, you know the time this man has spent to be where he is? He's been touring since he was 18. He's by far the best songwriter os a generation.
Awesome. God Street Wine, a NYC band that drew comparisons to SD in the late 80s / early 90s also did a wonderful version of "Any Major Dude" at their reunion show at the Gramercy Theatre July 10th. I believe it was the only time they actually covered SD, though I could be wrong. You can find it on the Internet Music Archives. I suggest checking it out.
@twisteddsister wow...fancy meeting you here...you just never know who you'll run into to these days...btw Joe's cover of this isn't too bad either....

they should record a new version with Nels in the mix. Would add a whole new (wicked) dimension.

I was just thinking of buying Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan. Until I saw this clip I never knew my favourite band, Wilco, covered Any Major Dude.

this is an abomination, and tweedy is a lazy ass artist, if you wanna call him that.

@normy11yt omg great to see someone talking about GSW! I love them will every fiber of my soul
small correction, they played this song at their 3rd reunion show on July 16th at Irving Plaza, not the 10th at the Gramercy.

Yeah, mostly google images but I dug semi-deep for them... It's a great tune too.
I heard "Outta Site" in a Sports Authority and it made me laugh. Wilco is an underrated rock and fucking roll band.

Acceptable cover of a Dan song. However; some aren't, such as Smashmouth's version of "Do It Again." Someone spray some Gay-Away!
ccquarles 2 years ago
I just heard Ben Folds Five, a-hum.... "play" Barrytown for the first time EVER. (It was the live Version...)
Thanks for letting me know who else avoid... (Smashmouth)
Oh yeah, I'm glad Wilco didn't butcher this song!

Funny. I never thought much of this song in its overproduced original form, but I like this stripped down version.
