enjoy the fucking song, that's what HE wanted anyway

  • 22 people need to be drawn and quartered. 12-30-11. But i DO miss Cliff.

  • I've been seeing this video since i woke up this morning, like more of 10 times almost. :)

  • HE FUCKING LEFT THE BAND =(

  • Perfect guitar sound!

  • AMANZING GUITAR'S SOUND

  • THE SOUND OF JASON IS AWESOME

  • Front centre stage, 1991 Vancouver B.C. it was great except for the lame assed sing along with Seek and Destroy. Newsted threw beer right into my mouth!!! MMM beer. Also the first Metallica concert with screaming tween girls... Enter Sandman fans. I think they must have been shocked when they played So What!!! Hahahahahahaha!!!

  • 1:22 ....

  • this is amazing!

  • fucken osome the best song ever done by metallica

  • Anyone knows how i can begin to get a bass tone like that!!!..so sweet

  • come back to metallica

  • Why does everyone keep arguing about whom was the best bassist for Metallica. Everyone contributed in their own way. Beside that there is no rivalry between these bassist, since Jason replaced Cliff because he died in a sad and tragic accident, and Rob replaced Jason after he left because he didn't wanna stay due to some tensions within the band. There's no bad blood between them and I'm sure that Cliff looked down on Jason and felt he was a worthy sucessor to him. The same goes for Rob I'm sure

  • look at thsose two faggots fighting over dumb shit.... LISTEN TOT HE DAMN MUSIC. dont scroll down, your gonna miss the video.

  • i feel bad for Jason

  • I like Jason, but he used a pick a lot. That is why Robert makes Metallica sound better. Jason sang just like the way James did, so I thought that was cool. But anyways sorry Jason Newsted I'm glad you left the band

  • @TheMetalhead52 Trujillo does not play better than Jason. There's a lot more to music than technique, especially when you're talking about Metallica. Jason has more feeling. And he doesn't sing at all like James. He sings with million times more balls, rage and brutality than James.

  • @tibs2403 Trujillo sounds like Cliff, so if your saying Jason was better you must be the stupidest fucking guy ever

  • @TheMetalhead52 Trujillo is quite different in a number of ways from Cliff, and I'm not saying Jason sounds better than Cliff. How he "sounds" is a very subjective term. Cliff was fast, used distorsion and his fingers. Jason doesn't go as fast and uses a pick. I preffer Jason's style, because he lets out more emotion and feel. Trujillo is a great guitarist, but not an artist at all. He just adapted flamenco techniques to bass. Thats it.

  • @tibs2403 wha???rob a guitarist?have you ever heard him on infectious grooves?

  • @tibs2403 What you said about Cliff is exacty like Trujillio.. And so what if he did adapted flamenco techniques to bass? Trujillio is very fast, used distorsion and his fingers.....

  • @TheMetalhead52 Again, more to it than that.Cliff's contribution to Metallica's sound in the beginning is far greater than Trujillo's. They might be equals as instrumentalists, but Cliff I see as far more of an artist/musician than Trujillo.

  • @tibs2403 Well everyone does because Cliff was the original bass player!!

  • @TheMetalhead52 He might as well been the 200th bass player and still lived. Those aren't relevant points to me. I judge a musician by his music and emotion, not who he is. I respect all three bassists, for their prowess in wielding their instrument and how they deliver their sound. However my musical taste best fits Jason's style. For about 15 years he delivered for Metallica, with immense passion every time, to the very end.

  • @tibs2403 I don't care about your stupid musical taste bro.. Haha this was suppose to be about my opinion

  • The fuck are you talking about "More Feeling"?

His style was neither inventive nor emotional. All he did was follow along like a lapdog. I'll admit you're right about his vocals, but instrumentally, there was no passion. Trujillo puts heart into his playing, but it's still not the the same wild feeling that Cliff let loose, and will never be. Cliff just plain didn't give a fuck, which is something those can never claim. They were/are too busy trying to live up to him.

  • the way i see it does it acually matter who was better? EVERY metallica basist has been great at what they do and its not just playing bass they all bring something with them. so imo it cant ever matter who was the best they all were the best just in different ways

  • @dudewheresmycar206

yup they all did smthng right and end up in metallica :)

  • i like a lot the sound of jason, even if i play with fingers

  • i like the way it sounds. it sounds like a mysterious jungle kinda

  • ellos en un principio solo hacian esta parte de orion cada vez que Cliff cumplia Años desde su muerte.. ahora la tocan completa Gracias a Rob Trujillo que hace un sonido de bajo excelente

  • omg I love Jason's playing.

He's really a true Metallica member, despite everyone's saying about him, as Trujillo is.

Every bassist Metallica had is a badass!

  • The way i see it :

    1. Cliff

    2. Rob

    3. Jason

  • @TheMindfreak86 uhhh no. Trujillo is a great and very talented and versatile bassist but he doesnt outrank Jason Newsted as a Metallica member. Not yet anyway. The St Anger album was complete shit. The worst inthe bands history. Once he gets a few more albums written with him as a band member maybe but not yet. As far as Cliff is concerned he was great but if he hadnt been killed so prematurely would he really be better than Jason.....its debatable.

  • @insaneone5150 You realize Rob had nothing to do with St. Anger. Right?

  • @Koroar that may be true but my statement about him not outranking either Cliff nor Jason as a member of Metallica still rings true. Get a few more albums under his belt and we'll see where he stands. Bob Rock filled in on bass for the recording of St. Anger and Trujillo was the bassist on the supporting world tour on which ironically no songs from St Anger were played.....kinda supports my theory that the St Anger album was complete crap huh?

  • @insaneone5150 Yeah I know, but I didn't say anything about which bassist is better, or about how bad St. Anger was. Just for the record, they did play several songs from St. Anger on the supporting tour, and the ones that followed it. The first song they played live on an actual tour was in fact "Frantic." Not including the live show they played with Bob Rock on bass while they were still working on the album.

  • It's not debatable at all. Cliff wrote part of Kirk's Guitar solo to Master of Puppets, (Kirk admitted to taking a few ideas from Cliff to write it) pretty much wrote the entirety of Orion, aside from the solos, which Kirk and James wrote (Although the fact that Cliff could play one of Kirk's solos is kind of impressive...) He wrote Anesthesia, the intro to Damage inc, the intro to FWTBT, the Solos in Call of Ktulu (credited as LEAD BASS)

and what has Jason Done worth noting? Dyer's Eve.

  • Dyer's Eve, which was hard to play, admittedly, but in reality was pretty much just following the Rhythm guitar. No runs, no fun licks, just following the Rhythm.

Nothing else Jason did even came close to what Cliff put out. The only place where Jason showed any prowess above Cliff was as a Backing Vocalist. He has a voice like a goddamn V8 engine. But as a bassist? Sorry, but Cliff was infinitely better than Jason.

  • @Jinxerz010792 That;s just absurd. Have you listened to the bassline on One? Tell me that isn't great. The And Justice for All album was no justice to Jason. Jason was obscured by James and Lars during his period with Metallica. His creative juices would barely be let out. But when he is given some space to create, like on the Black Album, with My Friend of Misery, he puts out amazing emotion. Cliff came up with some amazing riffs and ideas, but we all just deified him cause he died.

  • Um, dude, My Friend of Misery is a shit song, IMO. Also, I hate the black album. It was the start of Everything that was Wrong with Metallica.

And no, his bassline for One is not good. It's simple, and uninventive. He just followed James, like he pretty much always did. The only song I give him credit for being original in is King Nothing. That is LITERALLY the only bassline he wrote that I enjoy playing, and tbh, James ruined the song by linking it back to Sandman at the end.

  • @Jinxerz010792 dude, listen to Death Magnetic closely and u will hear that all the bass does on that album is following the rhythm guitar.I play bass and found it very unattractive. That's just how they write music.Rob didn't write the basslines on DM-James did.Just like most of the other basslines(even many of the ones attributed to Cliff).Tallica has had 3 amazing bassists,I'm sure none of them would be there if they weren't the best .The whole discussions is pointless:don't argue about tastes

  • @Jinxerz010792 Actually its very debatable due to the very cold hard fact that while jasons library of work before, durng and after Metallica is continuing to grow while Cliff is well, for lack of a better word to use, dead. Cliff Burton was is and always be one of the most influential, innovative bassists to ever hit the music scene and I in no way mean to sound disrspectful, but contrary to popular belief, an untimely death doesnt improve the quality or quantity of ones catalog of work.

  • Still the best live version of Orion.

  • GOD BLESS CLIFF

  • After these solos and he sang most of James' parts cause James was losing it, sure, lets make him leave!

  • @redc338able Actually, he just sang Seek and Destroy and Whiplash.

  • Is it just me or is Jason playing the opening riff wrong?

  • @losermonster no. He still plays the same notes, just a bit different

  • @losermonster No he played it in a different way.

  • @losermonster He played it differently on purpose, as far as I know.. they told him to do it.. something about the song being very, very cliff-oriented.

  • the king is dead. long live the king

  • @clockw3rx he is not dead. =P

  • fuck rob and jason we all miss Cliff ;D RIP old friend :)

  • Fuck Rob, I miss Jason :(

  • @skate4life2022

    Fuck Jason, I miss Cliff...

  • @LavrTama Fuck Cliff, I miss McGovney.

    Hum wait... (joke)

  • @skate4life2022 Omg sorry dude but Cliff made that song and ONLY He can play perfectly that song !! This is my opinion.

  • @skate4life2022 Jason was the man for the monster of Metallica!

  • @skate4life2022 fuck Rob and Jason i miss Cliff

  • @skate4life2022 fuck jason, i miss cliff :(

  • @fishermangonewild Cliff was great but Jason was also a great bass player plus he gave the band a kick as did Cliff..I wonder if most people where even alive to hear Cliff that make thses statements about him...probably not..

  • those guitars sound amazing...what pickups where they using?

  • @TheKeisari

EMGs but it's not just the pikcups pall, it's the finger play and thousonds of $ worth of guitars, amplifiers, effects... :p

But yeah, this was their best live tone ever.

  • @RazorAceYU No, it's James's and Kirk's fingers on fingerboard, Emg's and MESA BOOGIE distortion, and it's all ;p

But, yes this was their best tone ever!

  • Everytime I watch this I feel like I'm listening to a 3 man symphony... Amazing every time.

  • 18 people are justin fucking bieber fans

    18 People are without souls

  • R.I.P Cliff

We missed you so much and we missed jason newsted

  • Oh shit......

  • @buckethead177058 OMG HE IS SO FUCKING LUCKY FFS

  • How was this Orion?? Wrong song dickhead

  • @JimmyJames6784 it is orion lmao dickhead

  • @JimmyJames6784 What the hell are you talking about? This is "Orion".

  • @buckethead177058

    OMG HE Is LUCKY

  • I love Jason! I liked Cliff and I also love Rob. They all fit in Metallica very well. Jason has paid his dues, so has Rob.

  • All you guys who say Jason is not playing this right: He's not trying to play it same way as Cliff did, he's playing an own version of it...

  • maybe it was a homage, and not a direct cover you musical nerds

still a great job. wd JN

  • 2:35 awesome!

  • @4:00 #5:00 *5:00*

  • doesn't jason know how to play the fucking song?

  • after listening to all kinds of music i must say this is a masterpiece od metallica

  • Fucking great sound ! I wish they had it nowdays

  • jasons not playing it right

  • 0:00 - 5:12 best part

  • Jason was/is good but completely amateurish compared to Cliff

  • @cheezeontoast4sory for telling you but they have robert now

  • such a awesome song.

Thank you cliff burton for a such a gift.

  • I wonder how many thousand lighters died during this song

  • something about great music and 1992 ay

  • Saw Jason with Sepultura 1998 S.F playing Drums!!!!!!

( with a shit load of other drummers)

  • was he tryimng to pull off teeth r using his own solo?

  • Many people may not know this, but Jason rarely ever played with a pick. He actually was born with a deformation called "Hugemothafuckinballz." This aloud him to play with the bones of his fingers.

  • @bobcatmonster wow i thought i was the only person that had that :)

  • @bobcatmonster So why the fuck he plays with a pick ?

  • @jiko12 I believe you mean "So why the fuck DOES he play with a pick." And my answer to your stupid question is: I wish there was less dumb shits like you, go fuck yourself.

  • @bobcatmonster So not "allowed" then?

  • @TheSIKKS66 What?

  • @bobcatmonster allowed***

  • @bobcatmonster LMFAO. Nice one =P

  • @bobcatmonster he used his fingers in the video for " One "

  • 3:45 lol

  • metallica is so underrated outside the metal community... this part of the song is classical, through and through.

  • @jstewart0420 Totally agreed. Metallica is very versatile. Rob's a funky bassist Kir's a blusey Guitarist, James can do anything and Lars was very punk like with his playing for a while. St. Anger sounded like Travis Barker was with Metallica.

  • IN MEMORY OF CLIFF BURTON

  • @vVjosseVv bass distortion

  • sorry jason not really good it looks like he's having a hella hard time playing it

  • @vVjosseVv Distortion and harmonizer.

  • (RIP) cliff burton :(

  • @vVjosseVv i think its just overdrive....

  • very good tribute of jason and metallica to cliff

  • If that wasn't badass, then I don't know what badass is!

  • why jason changed the bassline???the original one was superb(although this one is very good also) and just as a tribute to clif he shouldn't change it even in the slightest

  • amazing

  • every bass player metallica had and has now are great. the only thing that pisses me off about rob is that crab walk shit he does. but hey what are you gonna do?

  • @balabaleado

Jason was the spirit ... you saying ... "Jason was shit, it's my opinion" ... ??

Well my opinion is that YOU are shit. It's just my opinion

  • @UrMotrFucker facepalm....

  • @UrMotrFucker I think "the shit" meant he was amazing, I mean saying he was the spirit of the band then saying it was "shit" would be something stupid, right? "The shit" meant something good.

  • @Tomaxzo Yep, but I love Jason, I don't know why you tell me that xD. Read again my comment

  • @UrMotrFucker xD I kinda got confused, I though you misunderstood first, whatever man! Hahahaha!

  • @Tomaxzo Hablas castellano? xD

  • just imagine if cliff was alive and still playing this in 2010 \m/... man i just made myself get goosebumps

  • Jason isn't even playing the right bass part :P He probably changed it because he thinks he's so much better than everyone else

  • @lionslicer9999 no u dumbass he changed it to respect cliff. and hes not cliff so he doesnt have to play it exactly like him anyway

  • @nextjameshet I understand your logic, but how am I a dumbass for making that statement? I actually like Jason better than Cliff in general, but he is extremely cocky and would change it to how he thinks it should be played.

  • I think webster, eventually, surpassed cliff in technique, but I think the material that cliff wrote is better by far.

Harris is good, but weak compared to webster or cliff.

  • i think cliff´s sound was much better

  • I love this part so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ;(

  • STOP ARGUING CLIFF GOD...JASON SUCK.... ROB MONKEY EVERY TIME YOU SEE OR HEAR A BASS GUITAR ON A METALLICA VIDEO , THEY ARE JUST DIFFERENT RIGHT ? THANKS..

  • Why is it different to the original one they have on the soundtrack. sounds better than this one.

  • i think that shouldn't say that jason or rob is the best (except cliff) .. we should say that metallica has and had the best bass guitar players in the world

  • Que volada? que se supone que está tocando jason?

    WTF is playing Jason?

  • JASON NO LO ESTA TOCANDO BIEN

  • they got something beautiful going on here and then jason comes screwing it up with his silly solos : |

  • @Fuzoroi Well, the total image was a solo of Jason XD

  • Si ke Me gusta MetallicA ""Sin Truj... Klaro sta""

  • I love Jason's take on it. Makes me happy listening to it. <3

  • this version is much better than the 93 live performance

  • doesn't it hurt hammering the bass against his head?

  • i love this version..

  • cliff is better than jason

  • @elefantas86

Well, Cliff is better than everyone except for Alex Webster and Steve Harris, those 3 are the best bassists for me, but Jason is still awesome

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 NO, FUCK ALEX WEBSTER AND STEVE HARRIS! CLIFF BURTON WAS THE GOD OF THE BASS GUITAR

  • We All Miss Cliff. Jason Rocks, Rob Rocks, Metallica Owns All!

  • @zephranna01 no cliff was better

  • LOL @ Newsteads face near 3:50

  • Damn jason butchered this song for me.

  • crap starts at 2:37

  • crap starts at 2:37

  • jason is a beast

  • I'm so happy Robert Trujillo joined the band, Jason was a good bassist, but seriously, he ruined Cliff's awesome job.

  • @BandUncensored

    how'd he ruin it?

  • @MrSFblack

    he played it all wrong

  • @tecna64

he wasnt trynna play the whole song so it doesnt matter if he didnt play into kirk's solo part.besides, let em play how he wants.when u play this song then u can play it however u want.

  • This song owns so hard it makes me feel like crying sometimes.

    Cliiiiff!

  • cliff burton

    aun se le extraña

  • THUMBS UP FOR METALLICA!

  • wtf is he doing at 2:33 ??

  • дурью мается))))

  • this is, THE SHIT , ROCK ON!

  • what type of bass is he using

  • @werewolfslayer200 i think its an alembic.

  • a jason newsted no le sale muy bien esta cancion le sale mejor a robert

  • Yeah for you. Get yourself a brain.

  • I know that you are entitled to your opinion but I think that cliff is better but, I prefare steve harris and i know that you probobally couldnt care less but all of my friends think the same so not all kids think he is the best

  • haha -2 so far. I'm not saying it is wrong to think Cliff is the best. BUT what I was saying is that many people say he is because they follow a trend of people. And don't listen or ahven't listened to other music and just think he is best because he was the only thing they have heard. Steve Harris I also really like as Iron Maiden was the 1st metal band I listened to and I listened to them nonstop for like 5 years everyday. Anyway I stand by my opinion. I like Cliff but I think many overate him

  • @maidenslayer MOST overrate him.. sure the guy didn't suck and was influential and quite a song writer, but many bandwagon riders label him as a god.

  • @metalmonkey88 I agree. But Jason is the ONLY reason I got into bass. I enjoy cliff's music but jason made it easy for me to learn really HEAVY stuff, love doing it, and push me to learn harder stuff.

  • @FrenchBeefCDN Just to clear it up I was talking about Cliff (in case that's needed) :).. and I agree on stuff like that.. some people just need to the right kinda musical influence to excel in music... I had a few preferences as well when learning guitar in the beginning.

  • agree a little with you. technically there're a lot better bassists than cliff but he had something that others won't have. the touch to do epic music that will remain in everyones mind
