Probably late, but a few plot things you seem to have missed: the mob wants to kill Jack because he took a wrong turn and ended up owing them a lot of money (which is why he was doing the race). At this point, you haven't actually faced off directly against Marcus until Chicago, and by "connected" in the character bio it means to the mob, which is why he tried to shoot you and also why the mob started attacking you while you were trying to beat him.

My favorite was NFS 3. I loved everything about it. It was the first I played and the fact it had cops that warned you and let you drive on was cool. I LOVED the hidden leveles and the fact you could lose cars. It brought my racing level up a whole lot.

Carbon is my fav of the NFS series. and a tip to help turn that works in the games and real life is if u r turning right slightly turn or tilt the car left as u are coming to the the turn, once at the turn whip the car right and just tap the e- brake. this will give a good drift and will breeze u around almost any corner. and do the opposite if turning left. what this does is builds momentum for the car and basically uses the cars own weight against itself to turn. no offense but basic science.
