I've just heard the story behind this song. Apparently Bill was "wronged" at the hands of a Christian brother and it really affected Bill deeply. He went out that afternoon to mow his yard and he decided he wasn't going to live with this hurt and the Holy Spirit brought these words to him.

Thank you Bill for sharing form your weakness,because it is mine. May I also forgive as I have wonderously been forgiven.

I love the tune to this song so much. I originally knew it set to "Be Still My Soul" (one of my all-time favorite hymns). In January I participated in an outreach to bring food and clothing to the homeless on NYC streets. The next day in church we sang "I Then Shall Live" in our service; I was struck by how appropriate that timing was! This song is beautiful because it reminds me of the service and compassion I owe others because of what Jesus has given me.

We just returned from an Ernie Haase Signature of Sound concert. If I am not mistaken, the tune is "Be Still My Soul" but the words are Gaither. How magnificent!
