it looks excellent, but unfortunately the client is rather buggy on my machine. An integrity check will soon tell if I the .bin torrent was corrupted. That and there are certainly fewer character models than I'd expect from a game that's been active for so long (started circa 2002). Besides that, it looks awesome and highly featured. The only other open MMO I know of is the mana world. Its pretty fun, but it feels like more of a graphical MUD. This could very well be my mmo of choice soon.

For all who dislike this game or are looking for a better game (in my opinion) is called Perfect World. is windows only but i think its the best free to play in all aspects. i am not say this game is bad at all i play it when all i have is my mac but when i can get to a pc i always go back to Perfect World. Check the game out plz!

Well, my PC is dead and all I have is my Mac, so I have no choice than to play Planeshift. Yeah, design (especially GUI) is awful. But it's OpenSource, and there's a big chance it gets better. When it gets out of alpha stage (which won't happen at least in 5 years from now, I suppose) it could become something huge. And it has no stupid ItemShop or any kind of cash-related dumbshit. It's free forever.

ive played this game and i found it very...different. it takes a LONG time to level and whenever i was on the npc server would crash! =-/ However there was a nice dude who gave me some money to buy some weapons. I notice there was alot of glitches like u would get stuck in walls and couldnt move. They had this trusty /unstick command which only worked half the time! I didnt like this game very much and am now playing Rubies of Eventide which has come to be about 10X better than this.

WoW can't beat this game, because this game is a TRUE roleplaying game. WoW is a MMOG, planshift is a MMORPG... I mean why call WoW MMORPG if there is no roleplay in it?

there is roleplay. very small amount. you make and play a character. you play the role of your avatar. I would say WoW has nothing on this because this isnt world of warcraft. the only reason wow has such a massive amount of users is that for most of them it is the first mmo they have ever played that its warcraft.

Sorry for interrupting, but i think the graphic is not everything. I played with high graphical games like Lineage or WoW 1 month; and then i found my old Fallout and Arcanum. And i felt more fun with those games. And I discovered, why. Because they are so living fully games. Sorry, but i found the other two to sterile.
