  • Astrosmash > Astroblast

  • i have this for the intellivision

  • It's fun to watch u suck dick at this game

  • I REALLY enjoyed this one as a kid. Think of it as 'tag', but with asteroids, spaceships, debris. You seem to die a lot! I've survived on this one for I think a record 4 minutes. Then my Father called me to do something and I lost because that. Man I was mad. i still love the video. I've been looking for this game. Sell me your copy? I can look it up on ebay most likely if you do not want to part with it. Thanks for this video.

  • its somewhat like a sped up version of space invaders where they drop down to attack your ship and the giant ship is even there too!

  • Astroblast for the Intellivision is awesome and one of my favorite Intellivision games, along with Shark Shark!

  • i loved this game, at least the Intelivision one, this version looks far too fast to keep up with. might still pick up the cartridge anyway. i like this game a lot.

  • Thanks to save states, I reached 30,000 points today on the rom. Without save states, I suck about as bad as you lol.

  • Please re-review with the RIGHT difficulty switch on B which is easy(A is "Insane" Difficulty) the LEFT switch is for A= Full-Auto Cannon and B= Manual. pleeeeeeeeeeeease re-review!

  • @scr99n easy isnt always the right way, varies from person to person....besides, most atari 2600 games were hard naturally anyway

  • Do this reveiw again on easy mode please :P

  • this is my favorite game of all time i have the intellivision version

  • This game is unbelievably brutal, I got it soon after seeing the Intellivision version, which in retrospect had better graphics, but was much more forgiving. Those spinners gave me nightmares, man! Every time I heard that telltale wail, I knew my death was coming!

  • Intellivsion > Atari 2600.

  • Wow, the gameplay almost looks sped up... If that is the "easy" setting, what happens when you nudge it over to "hard"?

  • Astrosmash was the shit back int eh day, but this game wasn't too bad either

  • I had this game as a kid, and I had a hard time playing this when the difficulty was set on "A". The "B" setting is a lot easier as the asteroids fall down slower. Also, when you reach a certain amount of points, the spinners (spinning asteroids, that blow you when they land on the ground) will start to fall at a moderate speed.

  • He had it running on the higher difficulty setting, that is why the background isn't black.

  • This game is significant in that it was released by Mattel at a time when they were competing directly with Atari. It was almost as though Mattel was waving a white flag.

  • Astrosmash for the IntelliVision is almost identical, but the graphics are a bit less blocky.

  • Astrosmash is the better game. Intellivision wins this round.

  • I have both. Astroblast kicks Astrosmash in the Astrobottom! It is not only faster (via the faster 2600 processor), but it plays much better when used with the paddle control - an innovative idea that wasn't possible with the Intellivision.

  • 'Tis better on the Intellivision as Astrosmash, where it was created. Extremely addicting. More than Asteroids and Space Invaders combined, even though that's what this game actually is.

  • Actually Astroblast is pretty fun to play, especially when with a group of buddies. You have to use the paddles for it. In a lot of ways it's similar to Kaboom in gameplay style. My top score is about 4000. I do think, based on your video that you had the difficulty set on high. It doesn't play this fast on low .

  • Try it the difficulty set on B....it's actually a really fun and challenging game....

  • It was best to play this with the paddle controlers, also it's hard to keep at high score because you lose points for every asteroid you miss.

  • That's insane!! Difficulty set on high maybe??? I used to like this game also, but didn't think it was this tough. Thanks for the gameplay. I was going to buy on Ebay...not anymore.

  • I used to have this game, but still don't know how to play it.

  • The asteroids are coming down way too fast for the easy setting. Your difficulty switch might be messed up. I just played this on Console Classix, and they come down a lot slower. I remember playing as a child. And why are you having such a hard time understanding how this game works?

  • COOL

  • Looks like a broken knockoff of Space Invaders. =D

  • The reason that you are having so much trouble is because you have the difficulty select switch in the A position which mean Hard. I suggest flipping it to B for easy and try again.

  • But I swear to the VCS gods it was set on easy! I just suck that bad at Astroblast.

  • @InecomCompany No it's set on hard. You are starting at Level 5 (Grey sky). Level 1 is a black sky. Also the UFO that flies across the screen doesn't appear until Level 4. Normaly you would not reach this difficulty until you had accrued 50,000 points.

  • @theking21083 oh that makes sense, invert the difficulty setting.

  • These are some cool videos... Although they do seem kinda 90's educational videoish.

  • Here's an idea: Try avoiding instead of heading straight for the things that are falling right on top of you.

  • The Intellivision version was much better. But its good to see the Atari version as well.
