actually the first 50 to 100 mls is methanol thats about two shot glasses and it doesnt make you go blind it makes the have a bad hangover. the blindness is kinda a myth.
@texaschilibowl50 I've heard that if you drink it straight from the fore-shot it will poison you, but if you just let it go with the rest of the ethanol it will just cause shitty hangover alcohol. They say that ethanol counteracts methanol. Also it helps to double or even triple distill to remove more impurities and trace amounts of methanol. But this is just what I've researched, I don't know from experience to be honest.
I'm doing research so i have questions. 1st why don't you use a thump keg and you don't save your backings. Also i was told to completely throw out the first three runs to build up your backings. Keep the 4th run and that's the start of good booze. Cut to 50% and it's good straight drinkin. My point is, to make it good you need to build up backings and run the steam threw water before it hit's the worm. I'm trying to understand how to do that so my mash is exceptional. Any advice?
@FwankenStein301 The first 500ml is Methanol. That shit will make you go blind. The rest is Ethanol. That's booze. Correct me if i'm wrong, i'm just learnin.
ok what in the hell am i doing wrong??? I have a stainless steel stock pot and i secure the lid with water and flour to get a goos seal. then clamp down with small visegrips. i have my condensore or coil in a big bucket of ice and water. my temp gauge is a masterbuild 12 inch thermometer but when i try to get it to a perfect 175 degrees or so its jus way to low of heat to produce any shine or so it seems. i made some but my temp gauge said it was about 205 degrees and it didnt burn blue??? help
Not tryin to knock you but why don't you use a coil like a traditional still. You set up looks good just tryin to find some info. How much will it make at a time? Any info would be helpful
Hey Buddy, Nice video ... Ive been brewing beer for almost 3 years now and im getting ready to make some shine and was just wondering how you know when all the alcohol is vaporized out of the boiling pot so you can turn off the heat before water from the steam starts dripping out of the copper tube into the shine.
You should already know if your brewing something other than beer or wine you should dump it, if you have any kind of alcohol and light and it catches fire you will know it contains methanol, i strongly recommend getting a book called the alaskan bootleggers bible it will tell you everything you need to know
remember morons, methanol boils at 149F and ethanol boils at 172F. if you keep everything that comes out your a dumb fuck. when the temp rises to over 160f dump what you have collected so far.
Thank u I think I just bought this from you on eBay today my hubby's BDAY gift! This video is great thank for the tips I hope he enjoys it I just hope it gets here on time for his BDAY...
Can you make this like in small amounts? like a gallon at a time? im completely new to this and id love to start doing this soon!!1 any tips hlp. please get back to me whenever you can
@nsdemon Tie a cotton string or shoe lace to the pipe just above the jar neck and hang outside of jar this works like a wick to guide any other liquids out of booze. this method will work with any liquid to divert fluids in a syphon method the cotton fibres suck up the moisture
What do you do with the second hose that you put in the cooler. I understand the first line goes from still to to pump, but the second one goes from cooler to still, What is the second hooked into or is it just floating in the cooler?
@daddyrkingpin Not tryin to knock you but why don't you use a coil like a traditional still. You set up looks good just tryin to find some info. How much will it make at a time? Any info would be helpful
@wa2436 That first bit is a high concentrate of methanol referred to as "foreshot" and should always be discarded. If a person was to drink that in it's pure form it can kill or blind them, however, when it mixes back with the ethanol it becomes diluted but can contribute to terrible hangovers if that helps you out anyway.
@2ndEmpireMedia I was thinking the same thing, cheesecloth is so cheap it is pretty much a no-brainer. One of those reusable coffee filters probably wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Hey I live in lansing actually! I was checking out your ads on ebay and your stills seem to be the best around. I was wondering if I purchased one of your stills on ebay if I could possibly save on shipping costs if I could, pick one up locally? let me know either way I am excited to purchase one and use your mash recipe on your other video to create some moonshine! its such a simple recipe! keep up the good work!
Hi, I purchased one of your 6 quart stills on ebay and tried it out last night. I was really amazed at how easy it was! I followed all your steps; and when I was finished I had two 16oz bottles of shine! I ran my moonshine through a brita water pitcher, which works really easy! Oh I also lit a spoon full and it does burn WOW! this is potent stuff! great product and vids, keep up the good work!

Why did you say dump out the first two ounces?
madow699 1 month ago
@madow699 drink it and find out why you should...
turtle79070 1 month ago
@madow699 It is high methanol concentrate that runs off at the beginning(lower temperature) known as "fore-shot", best to get rid of it.
TheUndiscovery 1 month ago
When you said the temp is around 160 and producing, are you talking about the temp of the copper pipe or the temp of the mash in the pot?
