  • I have been a fan of Little Jimmy Dickens since I was three years old. His songs are true country! My favourite is still Cornbread and Buttermilk!

  • Summer, 1953, an open air dance pavilion at Manitou Springs, above Colorado Springs -- Jimmie Dickens and his band played a 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. dance, with Jimmy providing a comedy routine during intermission.

"When a woman is driving and holds her left arm straight out the window, what does it mean?"

    1. "she's drying her fingernails."

    2. "She's signaling a change in direction, guess which!"

    3. "It means she missed the guy in the crosswalk with her bumper and she's gonna slap his face."

  • man that barn in the video reminds me of home soo much

  • Any body remember "Take an old cold tater and Wait"?

  • @layman2003 or how about i'm little but i'm loud another o0f jimmy's classics

  • @layman2003 i remember that song and also take a old cold tater and wait and sleeping at the foot of the bed.

  • Cute song....Little Jimmy is such a unique talent. Flamboyant but yet sincere...one of the last of the immortal stars from the Golden Age of Country Music who's still with us (or at least I think he's still with us...haven't seen his obit yet). He may be small in size, but his talent is GIGANTIC! THANKS so very much for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" for us to enjoy! :)

  • i dunno bout you guys, but i thought it sounded pretty good when he opened the grand ole opry last week with this song.

  • "LOL" I betcha thats why most barns are RED in color....all that edumactioning out behind the barn made the barn blush !!!

  • He came from a family of coal minners in Bolt/Glen Daniels WV not a bunch of plow chasers.

  • Heck I seen him at the Opry in January.... 2010

  • spank your kids now or they mit want to go out and gat one of them gay marrage things...thats what grandpa allways jus to say.

  • Somebody Spake me!

  • I don't care what laws say about how I should raise my kids. Kids are a carbon copy of their parents, think how you acted when you were their age.

I will spank my kids for the same reason my father spanked me for wrong doings. correcting a child should never stop.

  • 'correcting'???

who are you to say what is correct and what isnt correct?

  • Comment removed

  • spike ? your 16 yrs old and work

    @

    sulzer machining and manufacturing ??hmmm

  • where i am in ontario you CAN'T SPANK A KID .IF U DO U GET CHARGED !

  • sportsbra that's socialism for ya.

  • no that political correctness i don't see neo cons toting the use spanking that either

  • bluewolverine40 poitical correctness is a disease. Instead of discipline, focus, respect and just good manners they think political correctness should replace your brain as if they are telling you, that you are not capable of running your own life with the language you already know, and the morals you were taught. Political correctness is for people who look to the government, religious institutes, and corporations as the ultimate parent. It's a disease.

  • bluewolverine40 it's liberalism that is responsible for the total decay of every form of advancement that human beings have evolved to. From cradle to grave liberals sit their with their hands out wanting and taking from anyone that works for a living. It's their life style to whine and complain about everything, and yet when things go wrong they run and hide behind the people that advance and build the world. They are so out of touch with reality.

  • Hey guy, this is just a song, not a political debate. Go join a debate club for that.

  • Kevinch1 I was conversing with other people. If we want to talk about social issues, we will do it. You don't like it, go fuck off and die. This wasn't a debate is was a conversation. You don't like what was said here? Too bad, the fucking nerve of you, cocksucker. Move on, and get the fuck off the page if you don't it. Snot nosed cunt.

  • these kids today don't know what a strap is lol

  • LOL im 16 and i sure as hell do haha

  • ah yea the strap is necessary evil

  • i do... and i think its a good way of punishment i used to be a horrid child and now im 16 ive shaped up and my life is alot better...

  • Boy them first words brings back memories LOLLOL

  • Jimmy Dickens toured with Hank Williams a good bit. Every show when Jimmy was on the bill, Hank would gather up his band and say "Boys, we got to be at our best tonight, Tater is opening for us".

Tater was Hank's nickname for Jimmy, a reference to the Dicken's song "Take An Old Cold Tater". Hank really respected Jimmy as a performer and knew that he was a hard act to follow (as told by a member of Hank William's band in a radio interview many, many years ago).

  • Its the innocence of the song that makes it so great..

  • Still one of the cutest songs I've ever heard.

  • Yee Haw! It's great! Thanks for sending this!

  • This is the best. Real America.

  • i've been to Canada nice folks.

  • Perhaps, this is the reason west virginia is the most crime-free state in the nation?

  • i wouldnt know haha im not even frm the states, im frm canada haha

  • this is a really great song, haha reminds me of back in my day except for the first part and when i smoked my first smoke i never got sick, lol and i did have some fun out behind the barn

  • He still sings on the Grand Ole Opry today and sounds just as great as he did back then!

  • i actually saw him live at the opry last year, i wouldnt say he sounds just as great, in fact his aging is quite evident in his singing, as he can barely get the words out.

thats said, he has a fantastic stage presence still, and getting to see him perform is still very entertaining. he actually does a pretty good little comedy routine while hes up there

  • *****Thanks for Jimmy Dickens Out Behind The Barn.***** I thought it might be lost. You did a great job on preserving his music & video clips. Thanks from an old New Yorker, Lenny
