Beautiful piece there my friend, can you be as kind as to tell me where you got the flute from and roughly how much? because i really want one, i play alot of tin whistle D and C scale and wanted to advance further onto Irish Flute playing, so you know if there are any Sellers near the Manchester area of England?
Whaaa...I want a Wylde of my own! Lovely stuff, Peri. Hey, I will be at the LB session this weekend with John andMichael, plus Ben Power and Elaine are coming along, so should be some good tunes. Cheers, mate!
well done mate, there is a vid response,i made the video about a week ago,, bit rusty, but il remake again soon, was just done quickly as a friend requaested it... take care buddy
You version is lot closer to the Flatly version than mine. I'll have to go back and give the original version a listen again. Mine's kinda morphed as you can tell.
The wooden flutes have the most beautiful tones. I had the priviledge of using one in our high school band just after WWII. It had been purchased from a German POW by the school when the men were being sent home after the war. I had a chance to buy it for $20 but I didn't want to be in the college band, so it was passed down, and broken by the next student. It was such a joy to play!
This interpretation is nothing less than absolutely great. I really love it. It is much better than anything I heard before (including Michael Flatley).
im learning how to play the flute....n i should say that what your playing...must have takien alot of practice and determination to play this song by memory
I practice every day. If you do even just a little you will improve. If you want to learn a tune listen to the recording you like best until you can hum it or hear it in your head. It will make it more easy to then play it! It works. :-)
Well, playing whistle helps, sure. It is a different instrument though and I won't lie. It is not to be considered and easy instrument to learn.
But it is doable. I like whistle but I LOVE the flute. Once you learn to get a good tone and get your fingers used to the position you'll be on your way. Give it try!
Who makes this Flute?
TheIrishWhistler 10 months ago
@TheIrishWhistler It's a 19th century Wylde. It's essentially a Rudall & Rose as Wylde made for them. Check the info.

Where did you get the sheet music from?
stimmyturner 1 year ago
@stimmyturner
I didn't use any sheet music.
I learned it by ear and then changed it up a bit.
You should be able to find Mr. Flatly playing it here on youtube.
You are welcome to copy what I've done only it's really nothing very special.

From all my other lives, to the dawn of an autumn forest in the great north woods, this is exquisite. Thank you for playing it.

Is it easy to pick up the flute after you've been playing the whistle? I am learning whistle at the moment.
