  • I was an extra in this. There I am, first reporter out the courtroom doors just after 1:48. (In the theater version we saw, my shirt fills the screen out of focus.) That was in Vaiden, MS. Old courthouse they used there was falling apart, was torn down a few years later. Ermey was cool. Dourif was kinda quiet, seemed preoccupied--naturally, staying in character.

  • @dagwort Ermey was the only one in the film who wore an old fashioned wide brim fedora lol. I wish him and hackman were in another film together.

  • Deputy sheriff Cecil Ray Price was a coward and a murderer...He brought shame and dishonor to the badge, Neshoba County and the people of Philadelphia, Mississippi...What's sad is none of the Mississippi Attorney General's from 1964 all the way to 2001 would bring murder charges against Price...It wasn't until 2001 when MS Attorney General Mike Moore finally decided to bring charges..Then all of a sudden, Cecil Price dies following a fall from a piece of equipment at his job on May 6, 2001.

  • @arkansasresident Check out latest USA.gov Blog Team's new "coffe table" book "The FBI: A Centennial History ($30?) or PDF. Stories are fascinating and Mississippi Burning is included (MIBURN). In that "passage" writers also refer to a minister (?) who in the 2000's was charged and convicted for same. FBI and some townsfolk displayed incredible courage, and they made "Somewhere, over the rainbow" reality!
