OMG!! i remember playing this as a kid. I think i had the same computer or something cause i remember the exact same boot up and everything right down to the amount of ram although we must of got the comp a few years later cause i was born in 84 so id be too young to remember that i believe we got it second hand from my uncle or something. This brings back so many great memories that was my first comp ever and i had family feud too!!! I would memorize the dos commands people typed in ahhh...
@Arian9 Sounds like you did have a Tandy 1000 series computer, they made a lot of them, there was the all-in-one models like the 1000 EX, and the desktop versions like the original 1000, SX, HD, TL/2, TL/3. It was one of the most popular PC (in the IBM Compatible sense) manufacturers/models of the 1980's.
Howcome the DOS text goes all sorts of strange colours when it displays the copyright information and the files on the disk, but when it displays the system memory size it's standard white on black text?
@Lachlant1984 It's an artifact of composite video, I'm not sure if I understand it fully, but I know a part of it has to do with the resolution being too high for the output medium.
@creepingnet OK then, that makes sense. I know this computer is very old, but I thought these things booted up instantly because DOS is in ROM on these machines, this one takes quite a while to boot up. It looks as if Family Feud doesn't support or take full advantage of teh Tandy 1000's audio system, it just sounds like a typical PC speaker based game rather than a NES or Master System game if you know what I mean.
@creepingnet Yeah, that did not come about till I think the Tandy 1000/TL, when the machines were running 286 processors methinks. Before that, you still had to use boot-floppies, unless you got one of the more expensive Hard Disk models
@Lachlant1984 Composite video artifacts are much more visible in high (horizontal) resolution but you can notice some color bleeding in low resolution (as in memory size screen and Family Feud game) also. This is because of the way the color information is encoded into the video signal.
Wow, I haven't thought about the Tandy 1000 EX I had as a kid in years. I played every early Sierra game on that thing (including the LSL games, not that my parents knew that), and of course stuff like Family Feud, Jeopardy, etc. Thanks for posting this. :)
I had a tandy 1000 growing up..I always played the Kings Quest IV, Below The Root, Kidwriter, Wheel of Fortune, Math Blaster..I remember having to have the memory upgraded to 1024kb I think it was, not for certain, in order to play Kings Quest
I have the game Wheel of Fortune. The graphics/sound is very similar.
I agree about the stupid reasons why comp. players won't play the bonus round. I usually get " X has declined to play the bonus round because of extreme shyness." WHAT?!? Your gonna pass up $50000 because you're shy? Get outta here.....
I used to HAVE this very game (only the graphics were better than this one). This was the one that had the Richard Dawson set on the box cover, right? :)
There are times where the Dining Room is a PART of the kitchen, some homes have a separate one, others have it as a part of the kitchen, so I Have heard of a kitchen being referred to as a dining room.
I always found it weird that the wheel of fortune game would actually have a rendition of "Changing Keys", the 80's theme, however, that Family Feud country-style theme wasn't used for this game...
I dunno about the theme difference that much. The only version of Family Feud I was aware of was the 80's version with Ray Cole or whatever his name was. I don't even remember the theme, but the one here sounds comedic when It trys throwing those 30,000 hi-scores across the screen when the game ends.
that's is I q getting my 1000 up and running.

That champions theme is AWESOME!!!
I miss playing these games---wheel, jeopardy and concentration.
I never had this version of family feud, but I had a similar version on Apple.
Yikes, I feel old, and I'm only 22.
Good times!!!!!

And there was *always* a "reason" why the computer-operated family "declined to play the Bonus Round"...

When you said "dining room", the response was "that answer has been used". What? A kitchen is a dining room?
