  • Oh for Krists sake...I'm not going to take my GD care apart because Steve Jobs had his head up his ass and couldn't give the consumer and ability to pair the phone to the stereo. Come on Apple...get yer shit together. You have blutetooth in ever damn car in america,,,,the Iphone has it......everything ought to be wireless and seamless.

  • are you like chinese or something

  • ur eyes are funny

  • Hi Dean-

Im trying to figure out a way to do this hands free idea you have in my 2007 yukon .Its does have the Aux port stock in the truck, but what is the easiest way to get this done when it comes to cables or technology im an idiot. Could I just buy a mic and a 3.5mm cord and maybe a splitter to put in my trucks aux port to make things easier? Other wise if that wouldnt work how much would you charge me to make one?

    Thanks

    Ramiro

  • I have a Camry 2004, and the default stock Camry radio actually has a CD Changer port.....so I used iSimple PDXP, and it works great....it would charge the iPhone as well as provide clear audio with no tape adapters, or aux input (Charging the iPhone was important to me, because I use my iPhone also for navigation using Navigon).

  • Except for nothing looking factory, good job.

  • you used your hans alot for it being hands free......

  • cool thing, i think i`ll try it ;)

  • so ghetto

  • so are you!

  • what kit is that that is holding your iphone?

  • I KNEW IT ITS A CAMRY!

  • Keep you eyes and mind on the road. I tried all this geekery with iPhones and MP3 players, I found myself distracted most of the time babying this stuff. I dont know why people these days think that driving and road is does not deserve more attention.

  • @GazamYT It is this sort of handsfree kit that lends more attention to the road. What is worse, a call made with a handsfree kit or one where you only have one hand on the wheel. With teh iphone 3gs, you can even dial using your voice.

  • bush league but A for effort

  • what auxillary system r u using.

meaning, what is the interface between the microphone/wires and the car audio system. and how. have a camry 2002 , so hopefully can use same. appreciate your ideas and help

  • I had an aftermarket radio that has an auxillary input. If you have a stock camry 2002 radio, it probably won't have that option. If that's the case, you might have to get an FM transmitter or cassette adapter, but both of those options don't produce very good audio quality.

  • You crazy Asians and your technology.

    Really though, neat idea.

  • Thanks! :) I hope someone finds it helpful.

By the way, I finally broke down and just installed a kenwood bluetooth stereo in my car for $189... not bad for usb, iphone, bt and aux in support.

Although a few the billions of Asians around the world would like to take credit for Apple technology, the truth is the iPhone was was designed right here in the US of A.

  • Oops... I meant:

    ...a few [of the] billions...

  • thats an awesome idea, i usually just use the aux input on my dash to play the music, but i need to do this to be able to talk

  • Awesome! Please help if u would. I need to do this in my car. Also, please excuse my ignorance to the following: First, is that aux wire coming from beIow your dash (the one which you plugged the mic wire into) plugged into the aux input on the back of your stereo? Also, where is the "audio wire" that you plug into the iphone coming from? Is this wire coming from your stereo as well?

  • I have a 5th gernaration Ipod Video and it makes those same sounds. Its not the G3 interference but what your probably hearing is the hard drive searching and loading information. Which creates changes in hrz = sound interfearence

  • sooo coooool duuudeeeee!!!!

  • Actually, dont worry,i just found the link to ya site, nice one - ta =]

  • Hey Man, thats a wicked solution, i would like to do it myself, but after having a brief look online, i have decided that you must have extended the cable somehow!? so my question is: what kinda cable do i need to extend the length of the mic cable from the aux in port on the original mic casing? thanks so

  • Hey warsawskills, that's only happened to me once when I turned up the stereo really loud because I happened to be driving on a noisy road. Also, I believe you need to be careful about where you extend the mic. In the hands free unit I used, there was an extra capacitor between the mic and the rest of the wires. I believe that capacitor is used to provide some sort of simple noise cancelling.

  • wd dude, i wish i could do tht

  • Penny Lane?

  • By The Beatles. Excellent.

  • yeeeeaaaaaaa

  • is that a lexus? looks like 1 from inside

  • It's a 2003 Camry XLE... don't you love my car's fake wood accents?

  • ferrite cores on what?

  • well, i first tried putting the ferrite cores on the aux cable, but it didn't help. Next I'm going to try putting it on the wiring harness in the back of my car stereo.

  • OH, you mean the metal ferrite beads/tubes like those clipped onto USB and firewire cables. (this was for the rest of those that don't know)

  • haha nerd

  • d'oh... guilty as charged.

  • Nice jerry rigging man lol, this is really nice for someone who doesnt have the bluetooth thing built in. Great video.

  • thanks bro!

  • What car mount are you using in the video. I have been trying to find something like that - Where can I buy it. THanks

  • Hey olvee, there's a link to my blog posting and a link to the place that sells the mount. Check out the "More Info..." in the video description.
