The average radiation exposure of some 37,000 residents in Fukushima city came to 0.26 millisieverts during the three-month period from September (1.04 mSv/year). The radiation exposure at the 20km boundary is now 0.1 mSv/year. People in Denver get 12.6 mSv/year by virtue of altitude.
Also, the widespread ownership of dosimeters means any cover-up of radiation would be noticed by citizens.
"Fukushima city says radiation dose level unlikely to harm health"
A dose of reality. Loss of power (CME, EMP Pulse) within 2/3 days the batteries will be used up. The fused power generators will be useless and not replaceable and any Nuclear Plant will melt-down / melt-through. Not cheaper (minus the deaths, cancers, birth defects, loss of habitat, fresh water, etc...) based on re-casking waste every 50 years (cracks) for the 10X or 20X half life of Uranium, Cesium, Strontium, etc... at what cost every 50 years? Enough said. It was never cheaper, nor safe
Nuclear Radiation worldwide, 3/4 melt-downs/melt-through/ end-result is that for the next decade, minimum, they will not have secured this 'greatest disaster in human history' nor do they have the technology to secure it...they have already admitted this. Well over 15,000 deaths, over 1 million cancers expected based on increase in cancers after Nuclear Veterans, 3 Mile Island and Chernobyl. Cancers in children expected to take only 2-3 yrs to occur and you bet the cause will be denied, awful.
You just said " I think this is the greatest disaster in human history"! OMG You people are without a doubt sensationalists. Got any real facts to prove your theory? I think not! Here's a fun fact for you about Fukushima: Total number of people reported to have acute radiation sickness from Fukushima; 0 (zero). Total deaths from Fukushima nuclear accident in first 8 + months; 0 (zero). Total number of affected cows; almost 1500. Find a real topic to discuss...one you can find actual facts on
And get this, it is not the heat that produces the power, it is the quenching of the heat that produces the power. The sea , or lake water quenching the super heated dry steam after it passes though the turbine then the condencer. Without the quenching causing a vacum, the steam trapped in the closed power loop would move nothing! Again the motive force of atomic steam is not the super heated steam, it is the cooling water of the ocean or lake that does the motive force! The quenching sucks

@docatomics it was intentional. slow motion nuclear war. much more palatable than Hiroshima, for example.
