@IrishMug It's a shame Lacey and the guys weren't given the opportunity to release them in a form they were happy with when they were ready. These may well have all made the album originally, just recorded with a couple of tweaks. It's a shame that the beauty of these tracks has been taken from the guys. Yeah you'd run the risk of never hearing one or two of 'em, but I don't think leaks are ever justified, especially when the songs are as personal as Brand New's always are. It's emotional theft.

The lyrics on Devil and God have far more intelligence and are more thoroughly thought out that anything they wrote previously, save a couple of songs like 'Good to know' or 'Me vs'.

That's not to say previously they're bad, because even before Deja Brand New were far ahead of the curve (It's not even a curve to be honest).

This would have been out of place, but still stands strong alone. They could have made another CD independently with these on, though 'Sowing Season' explains why not.

You Wont Know is still a quality song. It's my least favorite on the album but better than most of the new music that has come out in the past few years. The Devil and God is a perfect CD possibly the only perfect cd I have ever heard. In Rainbows would only have a chance is songs 7-9 were taken off the cd. 1-6 and then 10 are all amazing.
