As someone wrote ""By nature, musicians are thieves. Nicking a bit of this song and a lick from that one, shaping their style on the riffs of those who came before, musicians are experts in the art of acquisition." I believe they will even steal from themselves. That being said, I love the original "Tangram" album (both sets) . I also like the updated, remake, remastered or what ever version is out there (check out Tangram: Chin Part). Artists do variations on a theme. Few do it as well as TD
First I've heard this reworking. I think I prefer the original, though this is OK. Tangram is like a time machine - hearing it instantly transports me back to a certain place in 1980, complete in every detail. Wonderful stuff!
OKAY MY FRIEND YOU DID IT.... THIS IS FANTASTIC WELL DESERVE MILLION STARS 1000000000 *********** BRAVO GOOD JOB BUT TO SHORT LIKE MY PENIS !!!!!!!!!!
if the original edition was not something better, for being innovative dramatic and imaginative in sound and vision, than this lounge version used for bidet washing time, we were not here to discuss on this argument. it is simple, isnt it? Thanks anyway for posting it, I didn't know of this restyler edition
Tangram stands out as an icon in TD evolution, yet this version only serves to variate the style to TD's current evolved state. There are those of us who have followed (or been called to) Edgar through the many incarnations of influence and style, some have liked and some have not; no matter what TD has never failed to bring new influences to evolve the music. I think the sax helps to bring the music to a different focus as do the ethereal voices. Either way, I can still "dig it"!
I tuned into TD in the mid-70's. Does that make me an authority? Having new versions of old classic songs offers variety. It doesn't make the original obsolete. Listen to whichever one you're in the mood for. Debate over.
come on edgar, sort it out..... ditch jerome, the sax, the drummer and the bloody women singers. get back together with chris franke and bauman or hasslinger or something coz the tangerine dream that is out there now is more like a fairground act with an audience that is only really happy when they hear an old piece being re-worked into a live set. I want to see 3 people playing keyboards and washing me away with a tsunami of beautifull sounds. Like they used to do !
perfection is the greatest enemy of things well done!! my GOD, Jerome and a senil Edgar are destroying the legacy of one of the greatest acts in music in the last 40 years. Please, keep your hands off my favorite records!!!!!!!!!!
I hear ya brother. :( I hope someday poor Edgar realizes what has happened to him and finds his way again, but after two decades of trite uninspired garbage I'm not holding my breath.

someone should say to Edgar Froese that Melrose is a fine track (and a good album), but it is almost 20 years old ... new hi-tech is just not at same level of what the 70th could lead pure & free. Green Desert in the middle of the 80th was a maximum operation, a true gift. but please, stop this banal manipulation now, because so done it's just nice and nothing more.

Did anyone know that the main sequence is actually the same as that on Force Majeure (after the steam train/gong) but slowed down. Took me many re-listens to figure it out.
I can understand a piece being re-worked - but I can't understand why Edgar doesn't re-record the origianl sequencing etc instead of just playing the original cd in the background and overlaying it with additional instrumentation.
Sorry I agree with devo99uk. I'm 50 now and was an avid TD fan for most of my youth until they started to tinker with something that wasn't broke. The original Tangram is far superior to this version.
I do not see the interest of this version, the eccentric is so magnificent, but tangerine dream often made errors, that remains all the same the biggest.
Being a fan for 30+ years now (and no, Tangram was not my first, but one of my favourite albums antime), I love to hear the old classic sounds using latest equipment. Yes, Tangram is a very classic sound and this version is in the same spirit as Phaedra 88, Stratosfear 95, Stereolight 2001 etc. and the many live performances of all those sounds which are so typical for TD. They are living & ever improving experiences, not something to be conserved. Thank you, bellerob, for this clip.
I have to half agree with devo99uk! although this is probably the most palletable things EF has done with Tangram...just wish he wouldnt re-hash the same tracks over & over again!
I bought this version which is pretty good but the original is far superior

I loved Tangram. Discovered it in 1993.
I love Tangram 2008, just got it yesterday.
No point trying to call one "better". Both are great music. I am impressed that Schmoelling even contributed on the re-make. Awesome.

I love the original, this one is really not interesting, sorry.
I don't like the digital sound added to analog synthesizer and the beat breaks the dreamy effect of the music.

if the re-hash is done in a positive way I don't mind. And Tangram is re-styled in a very good way according to me. Thanks for your comment.

Sorry - it's sacrilege.
First TD album I ever bought.
Wish Edgar Froese would just leave old TD classics alone.

according to me the original is kept intact. Just a few alterations have been made. The sound quality is superb. I don't consider it sacrilege.
thanks for your comment.
