In answer to the person who asked how many vacations Laura Bush took-one a year to a lodge in Washington with girlfriends. This was a tradition before Bush was elected that she continued. Obviously the cost was far less than Michelle's multiple world wide trips! Bush himself took almost all of his vacations in Crawford at the ranch and worked while he was there. There has been some discussion of Michelle Obama’s staff payroll compared to Laura Bush’s. Here are the results of my investigation.
Michelle Obama has 16 paid staff which cost the American taxpayers $1,256,700.
Laura Bush had 10 paid staff which cost the American taxpayers $764,900.
A difference of $491,800.
