England is my home, just like Zimbabwe is the home of these farmers.I see these comments saying racist things. but the reason that this has all started is because of that very same racism a white man should be allowed to buy and sell land like a black man is in Enlgand. Very interesting documentary. It's terrible what has happened to these farmers once the rule of law has been replaced by a thugocracy. @sicko6688 I sort of have to disagree with that. The problem is not so much a lack of agricultural skills as a partial reversion to typical African lifestyle. What I mean by that is that there is the knowledge( you can't exactly have large numbers of Shona or Matabele working on farms and then magically forgetting how to do it afterwards), but the average African makes what is necessary for himself and his family, which only works if everyone works the land unfortunately.
The blacks cant look after the land and are frankly clueless. As one of the farmers explained earlier, the white man built the country's infrastructure. And when you take the white man out of the equation whats left in return is total chaos.

Nobody questions what farmers bring collectively to the fold. YOU CANNOT JUST IGNORE THIS FACT. These people were sacrificial lambs. White farmers MUST ACKNOWLEDGE this & pay homage to those who paid the price for them.
I never set out to document the entire History of Zimbabwe and colonisation. I set out to let these beleaguered people tell their story. Most of them admit their was need for redress, many of them were compliant with land reform and most made voluntary contribution,
My 2nd point is this: telling the story of the balck people who were displaced and evicted from theeir lands is NOT the same as telling the story of colonisation. I think its just a bit of an INCONVENIENT TRUTH for you and your target audience. And you would have done your viewers more justice by telling it like it is, and putting this whole story in its context. I should suppose you are quite familiar with what happened in the 1930's-if not you really have no business making this documentary.
So really , what you have done with this documentary Mr Godsell is the equivalent of telling the story of American involvement in WW2 without mentioning Pearl Habour, or talking about the 'War on Terror' without mentioning 9/11! Its a huge ommission on your part and distorts reality grossly. For credibility's sake, set the record straight.
Where are the interviews with the black people & their desendants who lost their land in the 1930's to make room for commercial farms? Many of their descendants are still alive & would love an opportunity to tell their story.
99% of those affected by the 'invasions' were black labourers. Where are the interviews with them?
I'll leave you with a thought. A true patriot would have done justice to all by telling everybodys side to the story, NOT JUST THAT OF THOSE WHO LOOK LIKE HIM!
for example, Mike Campbell who is the elderly farmer above (who is now very unwell from having been beaten and tortured for hours by mugabe's thugs) helped a Black farmer next door to him set up, he lent him machinery and educated him in proper farming techniques. They became friends. I'm not going to excuse the Colonisation of land in Africa except to say that it has happened throughout history, whether white or black.
The first problem Mr Godsell is this: You have told the story of the plight of white farmers, which is fine, as this community is clearly close to your heart. But you have not detailed the plight of the farm labourers who are much poorer than you, and whose sweat and toil for very low wages has made many white farmers very rich throughout Africa. They have suffered much more than you, but there is not 1 interview with a black 'farm hand' in the entire documentary. Do they not merit a voice too?
Everything white farmers have been able to achieve in Africa is becuse of the dedicated, loyal, hard working black African labour at their disposal. Never forget that Mr Godsell. These people are hired at a fraction of the cost of labour anywhere else in the world . You owe these guys everything you have. Farmers in Europe and America need subsidies to keep them in business. White African farmers may have the knowhow, but they DEPEND on Africas cheap and plentiful labour to succeed!
Hence I find it strange that you have neglected to tell their story- about their loyalty to you & their hard work and how it has made many of you rich. I knew farmers who would tell me that their farms provided for 200 labourers and their families. It was as if should be grateful that that they all got the $US1 salary/day equivalent from him in wages. He never stopped to think how fortunate he was to be able to hire these guys so cheaply, while he jetted off to Europe on holiday with his family

I think that this series of videos on White Farmers in Zimbabwe is tremendously informative, particularly as there is very little information about regarding the awful plight of the White Zim community.
My only recommendation is to change the title to "Zimbabwe" from "Zim" as most of the world does not know that "Zim" is an abbreviation for "Zimbabwe".

My point was that my ancestors also suffered at the hands of a particular race but because I understand that it happened generations before me, I don't hold it against them. Neither do I preach their plight on a soapbox as if it directly affects me. Blacks have become too arrogant but to say they cant feed themselves at all is a lie. Its been done wrong so people will suffer but we will improve. @sicko6688 I sort of have to disagree with that. The problem is not so much a lack of agricultural skills as a partial reversion to typical African lifestyle. What I mean by that is that there is the knowledge( you can't exactly have large numbers of Shona or Matabele working on farms and then magically forgetting how to do it afterwards), but the average African makes what is necessary for himself and his family, which only works if everyone works the land unfortunately.

My 2nd point is this: telling the story of the balck people who were displaced and evicted from theeir lands is NOT the same as telling the story of colonisation. I think its just a bit of an INCONVENIENT TRUTH for you and your target audience. And you would have done your viewers more justice by telling it like it is, and putting this whole story in its context. I should suppose you are quite familiar with what happened in the 1930's-if not you really have no business making this documentary.

Where are the interviews with the black people & their desendants who lost their land in the 1930's to make room for commercial farms? Many of their descendants are still alive & would love an opportunity to tell their story.
99% of those affected by the 'invasions' were black labourers. Where are the interviews with them?

for example, Mike Campbell who is the elderly farmer above (who is now very unwell from having been beaten and tortured for hours by mugabe's thugs) helped a Black farmer next door to him set up, he lent him machinery and educated him in proper farming techniques. They became friends. I'm not going to excuse the Colonisation of land in Africa except to say that it has happened throughout history, whether white or black.

The first problem Mr Godsell is this: You have told the story of the plight of white farmers, which is fine, as this community is clearly close to your heart. But you have not detailed the plight of the farm labourers who are much poorer than you, and whose sweat and toil for very low wages has made many white farmers very rich throughout Africa. They have suffered much more than you, but there is not 1 interview with a black 'farm hand' in the entire documentary. Do they not merit a voice too?

Everything white farmers have been able to achieve in Africa is becuse of the dedicated, loyal, hard working black African labour at their disposal. Never forget that Mr Godsell. These people are hired at a fraction of the cost of labour anywhere else in the world . You owe these guys everything you have. Farmers in Europe and America need subsidies to keep them in business. White African farmers may have the knowhow, but they DEPEND on Africas cheap and plentiful labour to succeed!

Hence I find it strange that you have neglected to tell their story- about their loyalty to you & their hard work and how it has made many of you rich. I knew farmers who would tell me that their farms provided for 200 labourers and their families. It was as if should be grateful that that they all got the $US1 salary/day equivalent from him in wages. He never stopped to think how fortunate he was to be able to hire these guys so cheaply, while he jetted off to Europe on holiday with his family

I'm afraid, loyal and trustworthy that most of them are to their Farmer, I was not willing to take the risk that word would not get to the police. I care about the issue but it is not my problem enough to languish in a filthy cell. I am Irish, not African.

Now, this is BS. The land belongs to all people of the planet Earth as well as to all other god's creatures. Those ones, who can use the land in a most efficient manner without destroying it, have the right to manage it. Those who do not - must learn before claiming any rights.

But there's a flipside which is literally the darkside.It was not the black media showing this ...this were white people.And why would a whiteman showing the evil state of mind of his own white brother that occupied this country.Indeed he would become a traitor in the eyes of other whites and buckinghampalace.
You better learn your own history and thinking about emigration to zimbabwe instead of to occupy zimbabwe.It would have been a total different story.

As a white south african i fear that in 20yrs we will be in the same boat, i pray not. Also i just want to say that I REALLY REALLY admire your courage and determination to stand up for what is right. We need more people like you in this world!

I think that this series of videos on White Farmers in Zimbabwe is tremendously informative, particularly as there is very little information about regarding the awful plight of the White Zim community.
My only recommendation is to change the title to "Zimbabwe" from "Zim" as most of the world does not know that "Zim" is an abbreviation for "Zimbabwe".
