  • "... chicks mess it up SOOO bad for us."

I tell my wife that that's why she can't come along with me. Chicks mess things up, then we can't skate Gonzales' pool. It's ararchy. All because of women.

  • I would have loved to be there and witness all of this first hand. Theres all this recent technology and i wouldn't miss it if i had the chance to grow up in the 70s. Even if i knew what i would be missing out on and didn't know what i had to gain. I mean I'm a teenager now and i love old music and fashion, i love the sound of records and have natural hair that belongs in the 70s. i think i was just born in the wrong time...

  • Aah, the good old days before Big Brother started watching with those damn security camera's EVERYWHERE!

Yes, there was a time when kids could get into real mayhem. And get away with it.

  • @cffnmkr13

I wouldn't even be worried about causing mayhem, how does a kid just get the fuck away to think and sort out his kid shit that's going on when the cellphone that his mum makes him carry is constantly buzzing with stupid texts from people that he doesn't even want to talk to, not to mention his folks having the number as well? Poor fuckers, I just feel bad for them. If I were a kid, today, I'd go off all feral in the woods somewhere or I honestly believe that I'd lose my mind.

  • who is the guy next to alva at 2:57 ???

  • LOL @ 5:59

  • @morrocyclon that dude trying to jump the trash can after the other guy does it is great.

  • Meanwhile in my country there was a Dictatorship planned by the CIA.

  • what's with the TA lookalike who the hell is that?

  • at 5:50 i really wanted a kid to ollied over that after the biker and rollerblader. but the flatground ollie was invented in the 80's

  • Is these real footage???

  • Where is jayboy?

  • @QuilmTwe

Jayboy had real shit representation around this time so he missed out on a lot of the opportunities that the other Z-boys had.

  • @jerryaltman thats when they were rare and jolly

  • OMG this is awesome footage! I keep expecting to see Cheech and Chong drive by in the big green van at any moment. To think Three's Company had just started airing on TV when this documentary was filmed. 1970s = best era in human history!!!

  • the kid with a jew-fro @3:38

  • Man I wish I was young in the 60's/70's. That'd be cool.

  • Doobie @ 2:00

  • is that tony alva?

  • @Rockgod503

    No, it's Chuck Norris.

  • So dudes, is Venice still that cool? Black, white, skaters, musicians,....all doing their thing nobody messing with anybody else.

  • Yeah man Venice hasnt changed that much since this video I grew up in venice beach in the 80s

  • Wow check it out a pair of roller blades a 5:40 that must have been trippy back then

  • holly shit you are right, I am surprised they only showed them for a second.

  • So cool seeing real people from way back then. Most of what we see of the

70's are from movies and tv shows.

  • black guy garbage can 5:59 Ahahaha!

  • 5:40 i didn't know they already had inline skates in that year.

  • There isn't much that's concretely different about the 70's and now besides what people are doing with themselves. American society is growing increasinglystarved for culture . Don't lose your inspiration from society making it seem unrealistic or whatever because compared to what they're doing, skateboarding, breaking laws, drinking smoking, graffitti (any creative art form) is a thousand times more rewarding.

  • Damn...I wish I were living in the 70's!

  • If you wanna live in 70's make your life as similar to it as you can. If it's the freedom you admire and want for yourself change whatever it is about your life that is stopping you from experiencing things that way. Do what you want, other people will follow you, don't live a mediocre life. peace out

  • lol 5:59

  • is that a natural bodybuilder in the end ? or was he using them roids back then..?

  • iNSANE HOW FAST THEY WHERE GOING LOOKS LIKE FUN.

  • then grab a longboard and bomb hills lol

  • I've never been into long boards and i'm fine with the

  • new style of skateboards. :) you need newer boards for newer tricks.

  • It's intresting hearing about the older generation of skaters me being the new generation...I LIKE IT.

  • 2.00 to 2.20

  • yeah legend - face plant!

  • Those damn clay wheels (stoprocks, I like that) sucked s***. The smallest of twigs or pebbles and BAM!!! Launch.

  • @thesethingz all skatebord wheels do this xDD i herd the old wheels use to break not good :D

i found with my skatebord if you go fast enuff the pebble will just bounce of the wheel but i have new wheels mutch stronger than clay lol

  • @spanishpothead Yeah, I kow. My first skateboard in 1972 was a Black Knight wood board with those crappy clay wheels. Those wheels launched me plenty o' times. But I never had a wheel break on me.

  • @thesethingz man i was drunk the other day with my skate,

police was stoping cars for drink driving i got on my bord put my middle finger up

test me for drunk skating motherfuckers 3 am ^^ thers no law saying i carnt ride my skate

  • If I'd been a pool owner during the 70's So Cal water drought and those guys were cleaning out my pool, I would have thanked them with sandwich's and beverages of their choice and allowed them to skate my pool any time. Yeah, I know, skating pools trashes 'em but what the hell... If I had been a pool owner back then I would have had the dough to replace any damage that might have been caused. Woulda been worth it to be part of that scene.

  • Aaahhh... Venice Beach was the life in the 70's... Awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • I love how at 5:30 the rollerblader skates nonchalantly but then he tries to show off and jump a garbage can at 5:59, next time he should take his other foot off the ground. Oh He He

  • The jumper is a rollerskater. Rollerblades weren't around yet, but if you look close you'll see what I mean.

  • being an awesome skater was easier back then

  • yup

  • are they wearing somewhere nike sbs near like 2:10 or so

  • I don't think sbs were around back then, but yes a majority of skaters used nikes or vans.

  • yeap. nike zoom airs. 90 dollar nike zoom tres man.

NO. haha sorry but shoes werent really specialized to skating very much back then.

  • Go back to skatopia and rent some pads...here's whats cool about the "good ole days" scene on the beach, nobody has a cellphone and there are NO security cameras, (and miraculously those hippies survive the day!?)

  • hahaah the acting is almost the same of that MTV show life of ryan!

  • nahh that show is waaaay worse ...

  • Clapton.

  • this is not how it happen!

  • wtf@nikes?

  • at 2:04 he looks like sid.

  • TheWestSideStyle is a senile fag

  • What a great era, gone bye bye. and to what...

technology?, Crime?, greed?, what a shame. the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's were the greatest decades for this country IMHO. We were truly free then.

  • It's all in your perspective. The people who were middle aged in the 60's were saying the same thing about the 30's and 40's. People who are kids today will be saying the same thing in 30 years about the times we're living in now. The paradox is that "now" is always "the good old days" because a new generation is born every 30 seconds.

  • Oh yes because there was no crime, greed or technology in decades like the 80s huh?

  • arnold

  • That magazine editor needs to loosen up. And I can tell he's just exploiting the sport so he can drive that 911
